Abbey Court Nursing and Care Home was purpose built in 1995 to offer safe, comfortable and homely surroundings to residents receiving both nursing and lifestyle care. The home is still doing that 29 years on, and supports residents and their families with all manner of physical, mental and lifestyle challenges.

With ensuite rooms available, private gardens and a quiet secluded location in the traditional Staffordshire Moorlands town of Leek, Abbey Court also offers a warm homely environment, as welcoming as popping round the neighbours... The door is always open to visitors, the kettle's always on, there's always a fresh biscuit in the tin!

Abbey Court has undergone a further partial refurbishment in 2018, with a new reception area being created and redecoration of lounges - part of the ongoing commitment to ensuring that the facilities are exactly what the residents and their loved ones need and expect.

A varying menu of fresh home cooked food is available 24 hours a day, and an enthusiastic activity and lifestyle programme and a passionate and dedicated staff team, some of whom have worked there for over 20 years, makes Abbey Court a unique and truly person centred home from home.

Abbey Court is also proudly accredited by The Gold Standards Framework.

Visitors wishing to explore and experience for themselves are always welcome - no appointment is necessary.

The care my father gets at Abbey Court is excellent. They are on top of all medical issues. The home is very clean. The staff are pleasant and approachable. We dropped in on the off chance for details of the home. We were shown around and given lots of information. Within three days my mother had been assessed and moved in. Excellent service.

Lovely care home, clean, tidy and cheerful. All the staff are so kind and pleasant, from the medical staff, carers, catering and the friendly efficient admin staff. My mum is being well looked after and I am very pleased and relieved she is being cared for at Abbey Court.

We visited Abbey Court to check it out before we decided to move mum in. Once in, we were not very happy with a few things ie staff interaction with patients, agency staff who hadn't got a clue what they were supposed to be doing and low morale amongst staff members.
Since the new manager has taken
over, the transformation is amazing.
The staff are a lot happier, a lot more activities going on and a lot more interaction with the patients (at one stage, we were thinking of moving mum but not anymore). Very happy with Abbey court.

Since arriving at the home, both management and staff have gone out of their way to care for the patient's needs.

The food is outstanding and to everyone's delight is really top quality.

The carers always talk to the patients in a caring and concerning manner which always makes them feel at ease

and at home.

My husband was admitted to Abbey Court on Easter Saturday for emergency care, due to his Alzheimer's becoming more advanced.
He was immediately given a room he had previously used twice before for short-term respite.
He was given such a warm welcome by staff and although very agitated, treated with
dignity and care.
He has since settled relatively well since his medications have been revised and any concerns I have had have been addressed speedily and effectively.
Any visitors, including myself and daughter, have been made to feel more than welcome.
I am confident that he is being well cared for and in good hands.

Current Review Score: 7.6 (7.617)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.6 (7.617) out of 10 for Abbey Court Care and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.067 for Abbey Court Care and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.067

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Court Care and Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.3

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
