My aunt was in Bradwell Hall Nursing Home for fifteen months. Although she wasn't well, the staff did everything they could to keep her comfortable and happy. They also looked after my uncle when he visited. She was in Keele block and some of the staff had been there for several years. They were experienced
and organised. Any concerns or questions were always noted and passed on to the team and my aunt was accompanied by a carer when she had to go to hospital.

My mother-in-law had palliative care at the Keele Unit of Bradwell Hall for the last week of her life. This was a sad and stressful time for the family. The staff at Bradwell Hall were caring, efficient and respectful during this difficult time. The nursing and personal care was of a good standard and
ensured that my mother-in-law remained as comfortable as she could be at the end of her life.

Our dad has just passed away and three staff members in particular and all the other members of staff have been absolutely great, not just with Dad but all members of our family. Nothing was too much, they went over and above for Dad and for us all. Our love and thank you.

Care for my mother is good. The room has been recently decorated throughout at the family's expense, new wardrobes, carpet and wallpaper. The state of the room was the only issue, it was very drab looking.

I cannot fault the care given to my mum at the home. My mum gets amazing care from brilliant staff, who always treat her with dignity and understand the care she needs, which can be challenging at times. We are always kept up to date on how she is doing and can approach anyone/anytime, if we have any
questions or concerns. A great home with great staff!

The staff are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They make drinks and always somebody about. Thought about asking for a job, that's how caring they are. A bit old-fashioned in the room, but the care is excellent.

After my lovely nan had numerous falls and being in and out of hospital, when we first went to look at Bradwell, we were amazed! Lovely layout! Management is really informative! As my nana moved in, she still had a few falls, but the staff have been amazing with her! Moved her to a room closer to the
nurse's station! Constantly prompting her with her food and fluids! We can’t fault the staff and would like to thank everyone at Bradwell and on the Chester unit for the continuous support!

My mum and our family were welcomed warmly from the beginning and throughout my mother's stay. The staff there were really friendly, experienced and professional. They kept the family up to date with all the care Mum received and I, for one, was extremely grateful for their care, advice and reassurance.
My mum felt very well looked after and most importantly, safe. The staff here are very special people.

My mother has been a resident of Bradwell Hall Nursing Home, for almost three years now.
All the staff go out of their way to provide the best care possible. My mother's dementia mood seems a lot calmer since she has been a resident, as they know how to focus on her needs in a professional way.
I
cannot thank the staff enough for being so loving and caring to my mother.
I would recommend Bradwell Hall Nursing Home to anybody considering it 150%

My mum was only a resident in Audley unit for a few months before she passed away, but I cannot fault the care she received. Whatever she required it was never too much trouble, any time day or night.
My mum commented to us the staff were amazing. She was so content and safe.
All the staff from care,
nursing, hairdresser, activities, cleaner and reception always had time for a chat which made my mum feel at home.
Once again many thanks for the excellent care my mum received at Bradwell Hall, Audley Unit.

I visit Bradwell Hall to play cards with my friend weekly. The staff are always really pleasant and make sure we have a lovely quiet area to sit at each time. His room appears nice and meets all his requirements, the furniture is provided but my friend decided he wanted to bring some of his own from
home.
I usually avoid coming at meal times but I have been told the food is really nice and there are a few different selections on offer.
The pub is really nice, it is decorated to seem like a lovely pub that you would have found on the corner of your street in the 70's. I think it is a lovely touch if you are missing little trips to the pub and is in keeping with the majority of ages. Overall I would highly recommend Bradwell Hall.

Hello, we visit our friend in the Keele Wing of Bradwell Hall weekly, he seems to really like it, He really enjoys going to the in-house pub and watching the football on the television. He enjoys all his meals and has mentioned the staff are really pleasant and lovely. He has also made some terrific
friends during his stay. I personally think it is lovely and clean and a really nice place to stay if you require care.

My grandma and grandpa have been living at Bradwell Hall for a short time, my grandma always enjoyed dancing she has been suffering from depression for a short time. Since she became a resident she has improved greatly, she is never bored, whenever I have visited there are always crafts to do and entertainer
visiting. They had a Strickland night which she really enjoyed and my grandpa enjoyed too as they both love watching it. My grandpa is a very fussy eater but has never once complained about the food. He is always given different choices and the staff are really nice and helpful. It's a lovely place to visit.

My grandmother suffers from mental health problems and her care at Bradwell Hall has been excellent. I have seen her become more active and aware since becoming a resident. The staff are really caring and helpful and she has slowly regained her appetite.
I think the redecoration has really helped
too.

My mother was a resident on the Chatterley Unit of Bradwell Hall Nursing Home for just over two years. During that time, she received excellent care from the manager and staff on that unit. My mother died on the 29th June 2016 and during the last week of her life, she received the utmost care and attention
anyone could expect. Indeed I stayed consistently with my mother for that week and I would not have got through a very sad time had it not been for the kindness and understanding shown by everyone in the unit.

An excellent nursing home. I cannot fault them. Passionate owners and staff who have the residents care and best interests at heart. The new build looks lovely and the unique addition of a pub is popular with residents and offers them a lovely social aspect to being in the nursing home. Staff were polite
and helpful. The home was clean, well kept with some beautiful gardens which some of the resident enjoy sitting out in, in the summer.

This is an excellent care home. Clean, efficient and well run with caring staff. We always felt my Mother who was in Audley Ward was treated with dignity until she passed away and all the staff were excellent. We were always consulted and all our needs and requirements were met. I cannot praise Bradwell

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.473)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.473) out of 10 for Bradwell Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.776 for Bradwell Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.776

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.697 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bradwell Hall Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 127 registered maximum number of service users is 25.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 25.4 = 0.197

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Karen, and I am the Home Manager at Bradwell Hall, where I have been in post since December 2023. I have dedicated my career to the care sector, beginning in 1998 after college and completing my nursing qualifications in 2007. Since then, I have worked extensively with adults with complex needs, including formal mental and physical health diagnoses. By 2009, I had progressed into my first leadership position, where I began honing my skills in care management.

Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about providing individualised, person-centred care. My approach is to support each individual based on their unique needs and abilities, rather than focusing solely on diagnoses. As a manager, I believe it is essential to know the ladies and gentlemen who reside at Bradwell Hall personally; we are like a family. I also maintain strong clinical oversight of their care, which allows me to ensure that my team has the support they need to deliver the highest standards of care to every resident.

I get great pleasure in assisting the care team and always happy to help.

Hello, my name is Michelle Wooding, and I am the Manager of the Audley Unit here at Bradwell Hall Nursing Home. I grew up in the beautiful Isle of Man, and I’ve had the privilege of working in the nursing profession for 29 years. I started my career as an auxiliary nurse and worked my way up, gaining experience in various roles. Over time, I progressed to senior care, then completed my nurse training, and became a Clinical Lead. I’ve also held roles as a Deputy Manager and Home Manager at another nursing home.

However, I decided to step down from my managerial role to become Unit Manager at Audley so I could work more closely with the residents. I truly love my job, and the relationships I build with both staff and residents are what make it so fulfilling.

I’ve been told by staff that I’m kind, caring, a good listener, friendly, and always willing to help. I pride myself on going above and beyond for both the team and the residents. One of our residents once said I’m “an angel without wings,” which touched me deeply and reinforced my passion for this work.

Being in a leadership role allows me to create a caring, supportive environment where both staff and residents feel valued. I’m proud to be part of such a dedicated team, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact at Bradwell Hall.
