My mum was transferred to The Cottage Wing from hospital for palliative care. My mum was only expected to last a few days but was actually at Barton Cottage for 7-8 weeks. The Cottage Wing itself is a lovely, peaceful, spotlessly clean place and the facilities for patients and relatives are excellent.
The staff are all very friendly, kind, compassionate and caring. They treat both patients and their families with care and respect. They are always willing to answer any questions regarding care. On the day of my mum's death quite a few family members were at the hospital to say goodbye. My daughter had to bring her youngest daughter with her and the staff supplied her with a box full of crafting supplies to play with. We, as a family, cannot thank the whole team of staff enough for the care and compassion shown to my wonderful mum in her last few weeks. I would highly recommend Barton Cottage to anyone.

This is an excellent care facility. The rooms are high class, meeting toileting needs, meals are ample and varied, whilst management staff are available for help and advice. The tension built up, in a NHS hospital, after a complex leg/knee operation, was soon alleviated by the caring and kind staff.
The physiotherapy is especially to be commended. The tactic to build up strength in the leg and body was a noticeable improvement on earlier experience. The approach using exercises (well-explained) was very thorough, not rushed, but a build-up to give a gradual improvement to mobility. Many thanks for your good work.

My mum has just spent 5 weeks at the Cottage Wing. If anyone reading this is going or has a family member being admitted, have no worries, they could not be in safer hands.
Visitors were welcomed (including the dog), offered drinks and kept informed at all times.
Domestic and maintenance staff keep
all areas spotlessly clean and in good repair.
Catering staff serve tasty food from a varied menu with snacks & drinks throughout the day.
Nurses are quick to respond and act upon any problems, referring to onsite GP's.
All rehab staff were excellent, achieving far more than the surgeon expected. They encouraged Mum to do more, but in a timely and safe manner.
The carers went above & beyond, always caring for Mum with dignity and respect. She was kept clean and comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for them.
When leaving Mum after visiting, we never had to worry about her, as we knew she was safe and being well looked after, and that meant so much to the family.

Current resident receiving end-of-life care, I have been treated with kindness and compassion by all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble, they have helped make a very difficult time more bearable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Cottage Wing.

My father was admitted to Barton Cottage from Burton Hospital, where it was sadly determined that he was at the end of life and would need a palliative care bed. His admission from the ward was swift and greatly appreciated. The environment at Barton Cottage is restful and peaceful, and the staff provided
daily washing and shaving for my dad, which brought comfort to us. Despite the sadness of the situation, knowing that my dad was being well cared for made things easier for our family.
The only concern was being informed that he could only occupy the bed for four weeks and that we would need to make alternative arrangements if he did not pass away within that time. This caused us some anxiety, but thankfully, this discussion did not need to occur, and he was able to stay for six weeks.
Overall, while the time was difficult for us, the compassionate care and calm environment at Barton Cottage were invaluable, and we are grateful for the support they provided during this period.

Bedrooms are pleasant and spacious, reception area, hallway and my nan's bedroom always appear clean with no bad odours. Staff are friendly, willing to assist and approachable. Meals seem nutritious, and warm and are presented well. Menus provides a choice of meals for Nan to choose from and I was present
to see a carer help Nan choose her options. Some staff have offered me a drink on arrival, which has been appreciated with me travelling 40 minutes away to visit Nan. So far my nan has received good care and has been treated with respect. Staff have been gentle when having to assist Nan with her personal hygiene. Also, the manager was very supportive and compassionate towards me.

Excellent, friendly staff. Professional, attentive and caring for all needs (nothing is too much trouble). Clean, pleasant, modern facilities. Food very good - freshly made and provided hot/cold as needed. Very welcoming. I am very fortunate to be provided with this care, they cater for all needs (mine
being physical due to an accident at home). I'm thankfully on the road to getting better with this help and support and physio input too.

Although our mom was only with Barton Cottage for a short while, the care that she received was excellent. The nurses and carers were compassionate, and attentive, and took the time to explain things to us as a family. They helped make Mom's final few days as comfortable as possible which was a great
help to us as a family. Special thanks go to a particular member of staff who was on duty the night Mom passed away, holding her hand so she wasn't on her own.

Barton Cottage Hospital has friendly, professional staff. Set in a lovely location and the rooms are very clean and homely. They cater for Mum's needs with a smile. Mum's health definitely improved while staying here and she is sad to leave here.

When visiting my "surrogate" uncle we have both been delighted by the high level of service and care shown to him.

My uncle received wonderful care and support following his spell in hospital. Everything about his stay at The Cottage Wing was faultless. We were told that no one wants to leave The Cottage Wing, much to our surprise this was the same case for Uncle. We really did not expect him to settle so well at
a place so out of his comfort zone. Thank you to all of the staff who supported him during a very difficult period in his life.

My wife was only in one of the two palliative care rooms for six days. I cannot fault the care and support she received from the staff. They succeeded in making her pain-free during the last days of her life, so died peacefully.

My mum was looked after beautifully in The Cottage Wing by efficient, caring and friendly staff. Her room was clean and cosy with a view outside to the outside courtyard garden. Were were always made to feel welcome during visits and were kept informed of her progress.

My father was admitted to The Cottage Wing from Queens Hospital Burton after we as a family requested he go there after hearing great reports about the facilities and the staff. We were not disappointed, all the staff were friendly, caring and passionate about their jobs. My father was having carers
at home, but after his spell in Barton Cottage, he wanted to go on into a care home as he loved the enviroment, socialising and 24-hour care he received. He even asked if he could stop in The Cottage and pay for his care, that's how much he loved the place and more importantly the staff.

The room was very nice, food was hit and miss, often served cold and the choice was very limited. But the level of care was exceptional - staff were so warm and friendly, incredibly helpful and understanding - cannot fault them.

My father was in a very fragile state having spent 6 weeks in Hospital. The Manager and her dedicated team took time to understand both dad's and the family's concerns and our overall experience can only be described as exceptional. In the 4 weeks dad stayed at the Cottage Wing he improved considerably
and gained much of the weight he had sadly lost in hospital. We were always made welcome during visits and the staff were very happy to talk to us and explain dads needs and progress. Sincere thanks to all staff who cared, supported and treated dad with utmost dignity during his stay with you.
