I have visited at least four times a week and found the staff very nice and helpful. The two activity coordinators are excellent, and the activities the residents take part in are very varied and interesting.
My husband is looked after very well, and the food from the staff in the kitchen is excellent.

My dad has only been in the home since the 17th of April and I have only visited about 4 times. My experience so far is that all the staff seem very caring and management and admin staff friendly and efficient.

My mum was placed at Windsor House for emergency respite care and so I had no prior expectations. From the onset, the staff there were exceptionally professional, kind, compassionate and keen to get to know her despite it being a short visit. Whether by phone or in person all staff demonstrated to me
that they understood and could engage with mum. I witnessed staff singing with her and she was happy and relaxed. Although I did not see activities they were advertised on a planner on the notice board. The physical building does need some TLC - unkept grounds belie the care inside. Equally more stimulating facilities would be welcome inside. I will not forget how each and every member of staff come to say goodbye to mum with a hug and a kiss. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

After a recent change in management, the overall standard of service/care provided has improved.
Staff are friendly, management approachable and the care given to mum is much appreciated. They follow safeguarding guidelines and always contact me if they are any concerns. The home is clean and tidy,
the rooms are basic and functional. The food is good. The care is the most important part of the package.

My dad became a resident in Windsor House in April, after spending a few weeks in a community hospital where he was bedbound and needed 24 hours nursing dementia care. Quite understandably we had major concerns putting him into a care home, but once we visited Windsor House, we were immediately put
at ease by the wonderful staff so we decided to give it a try to see how he settled. On our first visit, we were amazed that dad was walking without assistance, he was dressed, clean and above all else happy. It was such a relief to see him, as we hadn't been able to see him prior to this since 5th Feb when he was taken to hospital (due to Covid restrictions). We were almost dreading seeing him for the first time, but we were so happy to see the loving care and dedication of the wonderful staff, and the way my dad interacted with them all - it was amazing. We can't thank the team enough for looking after dad - you are all wonderful, we are so grateful for making him so comfortable and dad again.

Mum praises carers, food and accommodation but management seem unresponsive and communication is impossible when no one answers the phone. We have not been offered any video link which would be a godsend at a time when normal visiting is not possible. A whole afternoon trying to call the home and mother’s
personal mobile without any pickup.

Dad moved in on 18th January and the staff said he settled really well. Due to COVID, this is my first visit to the home. The staff tell us he eats well and is now walking with a frame, which is good.

My father was here for a short time. He wasn’t at the end of his life, stopped all contact with my father, because I wasn’t power of attorney, even though I had looked after my dad from the age of 18 until I was 53. It was illegal what they did, we all have a duty of care, the manager was shocking.
She told many lies. My father passed away in very strange circumstances. Still waiting for answers, as they will not answer any questions with the Ombudsman following my father's death. Under the Human Rights Act, Article 8 it is illegal to stop all form of contact with family, this is exactly what they did. The manager needs to be removed from care.

Having not been able to see my friend in a while due to lockdown and my own ill health, it was wonderful to finally see my friend again albeit at a social distance. I see the home now has a new management team in place and have spoken to both the manager and deputy manager on the phone, and I can already
see the difference they have brought to the home. The staff are always wonderful, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I cannot wait to see my friend again. It’s a shame I can’t see more of them, but I understand why. I hope this management team will really help make Windsor House a better and more smoothly run home, which in turn will make all the lives better for those who live there. Well done to the whole team for keeping going through all the challenges that 2020 has brought. You are all wonderful.

I don’t normally make comments, although I feel the need to do so. My husband recently joined other residents at Windsor House after spending 10 months at another care facility. I was very concerned about his move. I soon realised I had made the right choice. His care has been 1st class to date. The
staff are so helpful and they go above and beyond with their kindness to both my husband and I.
Thank you to the home manager and the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.989)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.989) out of 10 for Windsor House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.229 for Windsor House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.229

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.76 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Windsor House Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
