My mom came to the Haven care home in February 2021. She was admitted with dementia, no mobility and unable to care for herself, in all aspects. The staff at the home have made sure she has really settled in well - so much so, she now thinks this is her own home, which is only what we could have wished
for. We are extremely grateful to the home for their support and kindness.

My father has been at the home for over six months now. He’s been well looked after by the staff. They have been like a rock to me whilst speaking over the phone, very caring and understanding, a big thank you for that.

My dad is a resident and my family and I are extremely happy with the care he receives, all staff are friendly and professional. They have exceeded our expectations in such difficult times. We have been kept up to date with all of his care and changing needs.

From what I have seen on my visits, my mum is being looked after really well. We did have problems not long after she was there, with having her ready for when the physiotherapist turned up, which made her late for her next job, but we soon got that sorted and everything since that, has been fine and
they keep me updated when she has anything go wrong with her health. We’re happy with how things are going.

Words can't express just how truly grateful we are to the manager and the team at The Haven. Our relative was sadly only a resident for six weeks before he passed away. The care and compassion he recieved were above and beyond expectation. He could not speak, write or read due to a severe stroke, but
every step of the way, the team made sure they knew his likes and wishes. Sadly when he became end of life, the team of nurses and health care assistants gave him and my family the dignified loving and peaceful passing that embodied a truly respectful compassionate journey. We were at his bedside all weekend. The staff made us feel safe and looked after. Every wish catered for. All of the team emotionally supported us in a very distressing time. A special mention to two members of staff, who left us a small note; you are true angels. I could not recommend the home and team highly enough. We have been left with a feeling that the team truly cared not only for him but us as a family. Never forgotten!

I can’t thank the staff of The Haven enough for the care and attention they gave my husband. He was with them for 10-weeks and sadly passed away in December.
He had Dementia and Parkinsons and had lost the power of speech, so communication was very difficult, but the staff went out of their way to
make him comfortable.
We were allowed regular video calls to him, and in his last few days, we were able to visit him, which was very comforting.

My father moved to The Haven Nursing Home in October 2020 requiring full nursing care; it was a difficult time with Covid restrictions as we were unable to visit him to see how he was settling in, but all staff made real efforts to reassure us. Although they were really busy they always made time for
us to have video calls with Dad just for us to be able to see him, he was unable to communicate due to advanced dementia but they were always obliging and very patient with us on the calls, allowing us time to talk to him. The whole Haven team are so caring and the care they gave to my dad was excellent, we felt confident that he was really well looked after which made a very difficult situation much easier. My dad very sadly passed away in December, once again the team at The Haven were outstanding, they were so kind and compassionate, we were fortunate to be able to spend time with him in his last days and they looked after us all so well.
I have no reservations in recommending The Haven.

Amazing staff and fabulous support from all the staff, my dad has never been happier. I got married in September and the staff went out of their way to not just make sure my dad could attend the wedding, but supported him with his outfit and transport. It was the happiest I have seen him in years and
without the help and support of The Haven this wouldn't have happened.

It has been challenging for us as a family having to put our Grandma/Mum in a home since the loss of our Grandad/Dad. This is the second home my Grandma has been in and I stress, the care is beyond comparison. The staff, especially the managers, are terrific, caring and compassionate, understand our
anxieties and during these tough times and do their best to keep us informed. My Grandma has severe dementia, however, the staff converse with her about her family reminding her of us and treating her with the dignity she deserves. She seems to be as settled there as she can be. Honestly, the care and good communication do make a huge difference to a family who is grieving for who our Grandma/Mum used to be. It is extremely difficult as dementia takes away the person she used to be. However, she is still with us and the home is to be thanked for that. There will be challenging times but we are sure that the home will help us overcome these the best they can. Many Thanks.

I can't find fault in anything. From the cleaners to the management both day and night it has been 1st class. Nothing is too much trouble, even on my 2nd day here which was my birthday, I had a present, a card and a birthday cake with candles - where else would you get that?
The care is 2nd to none,
the only things I find fault with is not naming names on this form. I would really like them to know how much I am grateful to them for their warmth and care. Thank you all and God bless.
P.S. A small suggestion, the sign outside needs to be changed. It should read The Haven Nursing and CARING Home - because that's what they are.

Dad has advanced vascular dementia and has been a resident at The Haven for two years after his previous care home closed suddenly after five years. Our first impressions were of a welcoming and caring environment and the manager showed kindness and reassurance to Mum and I that Dad would be well looked
after in their care and two years later, how right she was. The care staff are just brilliant, they do an amazing job and Dad appears happy and healthy and they take time to give him and the other residents their individual attention. We used to visit four to five times a week, before the pandemic, and always received a friendly welcome from everyone, his room is always clean and tidy and he really loves his meals, which are varied and cooked to a high standard. I can’t thank the managers and their dedicated teams enough for keeping Dad, all the residents and staff safe during the unprecedented times of the current pandemic and the regular photo updates are a big comfort to us all.

My mum moved into The Haven Nursing Home at the end of Feb. I was very nervous about her moving somewhere new, then became even more nervous when the lockdown happened due to the virus. I felt so guilty, almost felt like I had dumped her there and left her, as they aren't allowed visitors and I can't
call my mum as she is deaf and has Alzheimer's. The staff have been amazing and one, in particular, has constantly sent me pictures and updates of mum and she is always so happy in the pictures and I can see how healthy she is looking since moving there. I am so grateful to all the staff who have gone above and beyond to help mum especially with the communication barrier with mum being deaf. The minute she moved in there, they were asking what they can do to making communicating with mum easier, going home after long days and using their own time to go online and learn some basic sign language, that to me is going above and beyond and I can't thank you all enough.

My mother has always been treated with the greatest care and respect. The staff are absolutely amazing with her and it is obvious that she really loves them. I cannot praise them too highly. The management and admin staff are equally great, nothing is too much trouble and they are always ready to listen
and advise. Lastly, the food is equal to any of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in.

My husband has been a resident of the home for the past ten months. I am most impressed with the standard of nursing care and knowledge of individual residents. Carers do an excellent job; they have a good rapport with residents and treat them with kindness, patience and respect. All staff at the home
are friendly and helpful. The catering staff provide an excellent, varied menu and adaptations are made to suit individual needs. My husband’s room has been refurbished to a high standard, and the home will have a more pleasant appearance when the current refurbishment of the communal areas and corridors is complete.

Mum has been at The Haven since her transfer from the North East in 2014. Mum was not expected to survive this trauma. Six years of attentive, loving care, and Mum is still with us.
The manager and her team are excellent. They have such commitment to their residents. True professionals.
Without their
dedication and the excellent standards of The Haven Mum's last six years would have, probably, not been six years at all.
I have the highest praise possible for The Haven team in keeping their residents safe so far throughout this pandemic, which takes commitment, experience, determination and dedication.
I am glad we found The Haven for Mum's complex needs.

Mum was transferred at the beginning of January after being in the hospital for most of November and December. She was very frail and had complex needs, so required a great deal of nursing care, which the staff at The Haven provided to a very high standard, making her as comfortable as they could for
the last few months of her life.

By and large, the staff do a good job. I do however have some concerns about staffing levels on occasions, especially at weekends. The apparent level of "agency" staff is equally concerning. Likewise, what appears to be the absence of management personnel on Saturday and Sunday.
I would like to see
a photo gallery of who's who, showing organisation chart, job roles, etc. on display.

Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you feel the staff do a good job and that the residents are treated with dignity and respect to an excellent standard. We ensure that the 7 days of the week are covered by our own staff and we use a very low level of agency cover.
We agree that a photo gallery would be good and the company is currently preparing a suitable board for display in the reception area. This will help identify who is in charge at weekends as well as during the week.

My father had been in this care home for only 10 weeks before, unfortunately, he passed away due to vascular dementia. My mother and I cannot fault this home from the minute he went in, all the staff, including admin team, were so caring and supportive, not just to my father but to my mother and I.
The home is going through a full refurbishment at the moment but in the short time he was there, the progress was so quick. Not only that, the care towards my father was never impacted by all the work that was happening. The meals were fantastic, couldn't ask for better selection and quality. Staff were brilliant, so patient, nothing was too much trouble even in his bad moody days. We are so happy that his final weeks were spent being comfortable, cared for as if he was one of the family. Would recommend this home 100%. Thank you to everyone at the home.

My wife came into The Haven Nursing Home on the 16th December 2019. She was met by a very welcoming management team and staff. It's a comfort to know that she is being cared for by a very caring staff who cannot do enough for the residents to make sure that they are kept clean and well-fed at mealtimes
and what they did at Christmas was very special.
