Hello, my name is Rachael and I am proud to be the Registered Manager for Mockley Manor Care Home. I have worked at the care home for 12 years, 10 of those years under the ownership of Coate Water Care. I am a registered nurse by background and have a degree in Palliative Care. My passion is for high standards and quality care, ensuring the residents are cared for in a homely environment surrounded by beautiful countryside and belongings of their own. I have worked as a nurse for over 25 years and have worked my way up to the role of Registered Manager.
Working for a family-managed company, in my opinion, is much better than larger groups, each home is individually managed and we have a degree of autonomy on how we manage the home. In addition, we have the support of a smaller management team who knows every resident and staff member which is important to me. I feel that this method allows the home to feel empowered, supported and directed as well as ensures essential care is given.
Family is essential and I am privileged to be able to work with my own family at the home, my husband works on maintenance, and other staff members have siblings or family members also working at home.
What I love the most about my job is that each day is different, I am privileged to work with some very dedicated and skilled staff. I am part of the overseas nursing programme and help train and support new staff. I also have a great relationship with the team I work with and the relatives of the residents I care for. I can honestly say that I do love my job.
