Barchester Cubbington Mill Care Home provide first – class 24 hour nursing care for residents in a welcoming and friendly environment. This team of highly qualified and attentive staff really focus on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person.

Their dedication can be seen across the board – in an award winning menu, hospitality and organised activities for residents. Activity Co-ordinators work with Help the Aged as well as all of their residents to plan a complete range of activities which includes trips, entertainment, cooking and gardening.

Cubbington Mill is a purpose built care home set in beautiful landscape gardens in Cubbington, close to the pretty town of Royal Leamington Spa.

My wife is in the more advanced stages of Parkinson's disease and originally she entered Barchester Cubbington Mill Care Home for two weeks of respite care. Her Parkinson's symptoms caused her period of respite to be extended and is now to become a permanent resident. I could not have wished for my
wife to be in a better place. I am confident that she will be well cared for and in a very safe place where she will be well looked after by a dedicated and committed staff. Her fellow residents have already accepted her into the 'communal family'.

A huge thank you to the manager and all the staff at Cubbington Mill Care Home for looking after my dad for a respite care stay. Without you, Dad would not have been able to attend our wedding and he has not stopped talking about how friendly and caring all the staff were. We really appreciate the clear
communications leading up to the day which meant we did not have to worry about whether Dad would be ok. Knowing that Dad was being looked after so well meant that all of the family could also enjoy the weekend without worrying. We genuinely can’t thank you enough and could not rate you all more highly. I stayed for one week of respite care. I have never been to a home before so I was a little uncertain. All the staff welcomed and gave great kindness. The carers coped well with my stroke condition. Overall I was delighted with my stay.

His initial assessment at home, the transport provided by the home and his first day and night have been extremely positive. The home has a genuinely warm and caring feel. This is combined with professional staff who are always on hand. As a family, we have experienced some very different care so for

My mum came here in November for respite care and has been very well cared for here. The staff are lovely and her room is beautiful. The meals in the restaurant are lovely and the care and attention to detail are exceptional. Thank you for the care of my mum.

The main negative-not enough staff. Staff too busy to respond to call bells. Bathrooms-more grab rails needed. The floor-difficult to manoeuvre around, very dangerous, very jerky and uneven.

Laura Russell

My name is Laura Russell, and I am the Home Manager here at Cubbington Mill.


I am a registered nurse and I qualified in 2009 studying at Coventry University. Since then I have spent time working as a senior nurse in a surgical ward before moving on to district nursing. I completed further studies at Birmingham University whilst district nursing and I love to learn and keep up to date with my nursing practice. It is through district nursing that I came to love nursing homes and took the plunge to go into deputising in a nursing home before progressing to management of nursing homes.


I am excited and privileged to be working for Barchester and warmly embrace the opportunities this position will give me. I have a very open approach and strive to deliver the highest quality care to the residents and their families. I look forward to welcoming you to Cubbington Mill.

Caitlin is a Registered Mental Health Nurse. As the Deputy she works closely with the home's General Manager and loves working on the Enable system, getting to know residents and showcasing my very best work.

Audrey has a wealth of knowledge and loves keeping fit and active. You will often see her on daily walks around the local area and she is always happy to stop and chat or invite you for a cup of tea in her room.

Louise is a Cubbington Mill Team Leader and trained to NVQ level 2. She assists the Nurses with the day-to-day running of the first-floor unit, including supervising and supporting care staff at all times. Louise has been caring for the residents of Cubbington Mill since 2000 and is well known amongst staff and residents alike for her big smile and bubbly personality.

Karen has worked at Cubbington Mill since the year 2000. She is trained in NVQ Level 2&3 in care. This alongside her many years of experience at Cubbington Mill means she not only delivers exceptional care to our residents but can also assist in training new carers so they can achieve the high care standards required when working for the home.

Waldemar Stezycki

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Waldemar has worked at Cubbington Mill since 2005. He is the Health & Safety Coordinator and is responsible for all aspects of the upkeep of the home. He is a "Green Leaf Champion" and in 2014, we achieved the “very good standard” award for environmental performance thanks to Waldemar’s continuous efforts to improve Cubbington Mill’s carbon footprint. Waldemar can often be found keeping our prize-winning gardens, for which we have received a gold award for the 10th consecutive year 'Leamington in Bloom'! He was also awarded Barchester's 'Maintenance Champion 2017'. When he is not decorating or busy in the gardens, he can be found driving the minibus on resident’s days out.
