Bankwood care home is a warm and welcoming environment offering residential and nursing care. Set in the scenic Amber Valley in Derbyshire, the home offers stunning valley views which can be enjoyed from the landscaped garden and patio area.

Inside the home, residents benefit from a TV lounge, a quiet lounge, a conservatory and a dedicated activities room with cinema facilities. In the hair salon, residents can enjoy a manicure, reflexology, sensory aromatherapy and music.

Bankwood also features lovely dining areas where residents can enjoy meals under the professional care of the catering team. Working hard to make mealtimes enjoyable, they design a varied menu to suit residents' tastes and requirements and are happy to cater for loved ones when they visit too.

I was sent to Bankwood care home with not much hope of surviving long, from the Royal Derby Hospital. I am now at the end of this month returning to my own home, able to walk, eat, drink and have a good standard of life with the care and attention. I have received from the nurses and carers at Bankwood.
I feel I have been given a second chance from all the help given at Bankwood. I hope to be able to enjoy my family for a few years more. I can honestly say my time at Bankwood. has been genuinely very enjoyable.

My brother died last week, after living at Bankwood for the last three years. He has been suffering from Parkinson's disease and towards the end needed lots of nursing care. The care he was given was fantastic the staff were thoughtful, very supportive and always treated him with dignity.

With great thanks to the lady that organised and transported my husband and another resident to the Bridge Inn for lunch. It was a wonderful lunchtime and we met up with a number of good friends, moments that are very precious. Thanks to her and all the other staff at Bankwood who look after my husband.

An excellent nursing/care home- well managed despite rather logistically difficult lay out of building. Very well trained staff who treat residents with empathy and dignity- "teamwork" very evident- striking variety of activities in which residents are encouraged to participate. The home reflects a
highly organised management and nursing team.

I had an extremely pleasant day out at Trentham Gardens with some of the residents, staff and relatives. The trip was very well organised and co-ordinated and it was lovely to see everyone enjoy themselves so much.

Today we experienced a well organised and interesting visit to Trentham Gardens. The coach was excellent and coped well with my wife who is confined to her wheelchair. It was comfortable journey and well supported by the caring thoughtful staff without them it would not be possible. Thank you!!

Izzie Hamza

Job Title: Home Manager

“I believe that kind care means finding compassion and understanding for someone’s situation, whilst maintaining your own boundaries and respecting your own needs.”
As a Registered Nurse, Izzie has gained over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Bankwood for a number of years, Izzie closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Bankwood.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Izzie remarked: “I just love being able to share my life and experiences with other people.”
