Bankwood care home is a warm and welcoming environment offering residential and nursing care. Set in the scenic Amber Valley in Derbyshire, the home offers stunning valley views which can be enjoyed from the landscaped garden and patio area.

Bankwood is a very good care home, my Mum is looked after in a very caring and considerate way. She is 102 now and I put her longevity down to the care she receives.

Dad had just three weeks of care at Bankwood following a week in hospital. He had an aggressive vascular dementia so had a roller coaster final three weeks, culminating in a final day when he died in his sleep.
The staff were always so thoughtful and caring towards him, listening to his needs and calming
him on his occasional agitation episodes.
We found as a family that Dad's needs couldn't have been better addressed. Following his death, the respect shown was wonderful and the staff all genuinely missed him.

My mother's stay in Bankwood at Duffield was excellent. All of the staff, from the manager, nurses and care staff were so caring and supportive. I was so impressed with the way they cared for Mum. My special thanks to the manager, who was so caring and supportive when Mum was transferred to hospital.

Over the past 4 months, I have been assisting a lady on trips out who lives at Bankwood full time. I have been made very welcome every time I have visited the home and it makes me very happy to see all the residents so comfortable and relaxed. There is always a lot of visitors around the home and plenty
of entertainment which I always think is a good sign in a care home.
One day when I was visiting, a few of the lady residents were all sitting together drinking a gin and tonic, looking very content.
The home is run very well, with a very hard working team of staff. We are always back from our trips at tea time and the home always smells lovely with the home made food.
The home has its own minibus, and I have seen it often going out on trips with residents and families.

Dad came to Bankwood in 2016, this was his chance as he felt he needed extra help getting about.
From the moment he arrived, everyone was so caring with his comfort and well-being foremost, from the laundry staff to the medics, nothing was too much trouble.
Bankwood was his home and one he loved,
sadly Pops passed away in July but the care he received in the last month of his life was second to none.
Bankwood is one big caring family for everyone, residents and relatives alike.
The manager is very hands on, welfare and comfort in the home is her number one priority.
I would recommend Bankwood to anyone looking for a care home.

At anytime staff at Bankwood are all very good and kind. As far as I can see, my wife is cared for, kept clean and well fed. When my wife is awake, they try to give my wife enough fluid.
Overall I think it's an excellent care home.

My mum only had seven months at Bankwood (March - October 2018), because unfortunately, she passed away in her sleep early last Friday. However, the best testimonial I can give is that the last seven months of her life were the best seven months she had in a long, long time.
She made new friends,
rediscovered her joy of social activities, was well nourished, and clearly benefited from the care she was given.
The home also treated family members as partners in her care and the decisions that needed to be taken.
Bankwood Care Home is a shining example of how top quality care should be delivered, and the benefits residents get from it. I’m just sorry Mum will no longer be able to benefit from their care.
I also want to thank the Social Worker that arranged Mum’s stay at the home, for she may not realise just what a positive impact her work has had.
Thank you Bankwood. You should be immensely proud of the work you do.

My nanna became a resident of Bankwood in March 2018 following a lengthy stay in hospital. From March 2018 to recently we noticed a significant improvement in her mental health and well-being. The homes care was exceptional and were fantastic with us as a family. We sadly lost my nanna yesterday and
the home were brilliant with us.
We are very appreciative of everything they have done for her and us.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Bankwood who are looking after my mother. The manager has been so helpful, considerate and kind in everything she has done in re-homing my elderly and frail mother recently. She has gone out of her way in helping my mother and family at this very stressful and
emotional time. When the family needed help and support she and the staff have been there for us. Well done everyone. You are wonderful.

Unfortunately, my dad was only at Bankwood for a few days for 'end of life care'. We could not have been treated more kindly. The staff were all caring and friendly, treating my sick dad with great respect, nothing was too much trouble. Visitors were always included on the tea round. The setting is
beautiful. I would definitely recommend this home.

My dad was in Bankwood Care Home for the last seven months due to cancer.
His care while in there was fantastic. Can't thank the staff enough for the care he got from them.
Nothing is too much trouble. Even when he was in end of life care.

I'm an old friend of one of your residents and regular visitor. I'm always impressed by the kindness and friendliness of all the staff I meet.
There was a "show" on during today's visit. Very impressive really. It's neither an easy space not an easy crowd.

Izzie Hamza

Job Title: Home Manager

“I believe that kind care means finding compassion and understanding for someone’s situation, whilst maintaining your own boundaries and respecting your own needs.”
As a Registered Nurse, Izzie has gained over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Bankwood for a number of years, Izzie closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Bankwood.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Izzie remarked: “I just love being able to share my life and experiences with other people.”
