The Meadows in Alfreton are immensely proud to hold the Quality Premium Award from Derbyshire County Council and to have consistently achieved excellent scores in the annual NHS audit of nursing care (98.46% in the most recent audit).

The Meadows is a purpose-built care home surrounded by landscaped gardens. An inviting patio is much used by residents, particularly on a warm and sunny day.

Home-cooked meals cater for all dietary and cultural needs, and snacks and hot and cold drinks are available 24 hours a day. And of course, family and friends are welcome to join their relative for meals.

On the social front, an activities coordinator organises entertainment and in-house activities to suit all tastes, including baking and crafts, flower arranging and much more.

Above all, highly experienced nurses and carers are devoted to making residents feel both nurtured and at home.

Staff and care workers are caring and diligent towards Mum and I have no complaints at all. Thanks to all for their efforts during the covid era. I cannot comment on Mum's room as I have never seen it - covid rules.

I am delighted that my mum is here. When I visit, she is well dressed and looks cared for. Since February 2021, I have not had to worry knowing she is well looked after. During Covid, I've felt that she, and I as a visitor, are safe. I've not been in Mum's room due to Covid, but know that things have
been put up to cheer my mum.

My spouse arrived at Rose Court in the evening; we were both welcomed warmly. After settling him in, I was allowed to be with him, reassure him where he was, and he was safe. Over his last six days, he was cared for with compassion and dignity. I and my family were also looked after through a traumatic
time. I cannot emphasise how much this helped. All the staff were welcoming and professional at all times.

My parents moved into The Meadows in February 2021. I could not wish for a more caring environment for them during a very difficult period of adjustment. Since then, my father has passed away, all the staff were a great source of strength and comfort to my mother and myself. Because my mother is a resident
at The Meadows, it has allowed me to be her daughter again.

My husband passed away on 19th June 2021. He was only at Rose Court for three days, but the staff were fantastic, caring and helpful, always asking if we needed anything. They are a credit to the home. Thank you so much for looking after my husband in his last few days of his life.

Although my aunt has recently passed away, for over the last 2 years she had been a resident of The Meadows Care Home. During this time she has received excellent care from the staff. The staff have always been helpful and compassionate in their care; knowing the needs of my aunt, which has helped to
allay any concerns. All knew my aunt and when asked could readily inform me how she was, what activities she had taken part in and what she was wearing. Despite being disabled through a stroke the staff ensured she was always well dressed, her hair done and smart - always important to my aunt. With the difficulties caused by the coronavirus for the last year, the staff have also had to virtually take on the role of family for this period, which clearly has been difficult for all and which I greatly appreciate and thank them for.

My mother was living in Lavender Court up until just before Christmas. Then she was moved to Rose Court. She was looked after and cared for by great loving staff in both Lavender Court and Rose Court, which I cannot thank them enough. Nothing was too much trouble for them with the residents or visitors.
Very highly recommended.

I have had three family members cared for by the staff at the Meadows (Rose Court); they were treated with dignity and respect. They deserved compassion and understanding for the relatives. Every member of staff from carers, domestic and kitchen staff gave the upmost care in giving my loved ones a comfortable
transition into their next life.

The staff at Rose Court are absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. They were there not only for our Dad but for us as a family too. He was treated with the utmost care and dignity, for which we will be forever grateful. Unfortunately, our Dad died recently, and the staff are still there
for us. They genuinely care for the residents and their families too.

My beloved grandma was a resident at Rose Court and well, what can I say, the care was just outstanding! The compassion shown by all members of staff from nurses, carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and beyond was just amazing. They ensured my grandma's individual needs were met and were so supportive of
her family too. Sadly, we lost my grandma recently, and that same care and compassion were demonstrated with utmost dignity throughout.


Thank you to all at Rose Court for all you have done for my grandma. You made her last few months of life safe, relaxed and enjoyable for her, and we will be forever thankful.

My mother-in-law had been in the care of Lavender Court for about a year, then on to Rose Court. She soon settled into Lavender Court, where we felt she was safe and enjoying games etc. Then on to Rose Court at end of life; she was given the utmost care from both homes from all the staff. Appreciate
all they did to keep Mum comfortable; forever grateful.

Talk about kicking someone when are down! This is the only way I can express how angry I am about the way my husband has been treated.
The food is disgusting. Carers are lazy.
The icing on the cake was Friday. A seriously ill man, needing medical attention by the hospital, was fobbed off for the best
part of 10 hours.
Absolutely disgusting. I have made a report to CQC. I’m going to take legal advice for negligence.

We are sorry that you feel that your husband did not receive the care you expected during his short stay at The Meadows and we take concerns extremely seriously. We will investigate these issues thoroughly and we shall speak with you privately in due course.
It is really unfortunate that you were unable to visit the home to experience our service first-hand like other relatives before the pandemic. We receive frequent praise and plaudits for the care that they support our residents with. Our clinical staff are very experienced and work with GP’s and District Nurses regularly to ensure residents are receiving the best care.
We provide a freshly cooked menu from our experienced catering team. We have a 5* food hygiene rating and receive many positive comments. We understand not everyone has the same taste so we cater for individual needs too.
Again, we are sorry that you feel this way and will work with you to ensure your concerns are addressed.

My mum was only with The Meadows for a short time on discharge from the hospital with a broken hip and dementia. The care she received was excellent. The staff did everything they could to help her. They were so kind to both my mum and me, and you can't buy kindness.

Mum has been a full-term resident of here since March 2020. Despite the incredibly difficult conditions that all the staff are working in due to the global pandemic of the coronavirus, the staff have been excellent. They have tried everything they can to enable me to keep in contact with my mum including
Skype calls, garden visits, window visits and most recently hallway visits. The staff are caring and very professional.

My wife is my full-time carer, and I attend The Meadows every six weeks or so for a week so that she gets a break. Having used two other care homes in the past 10-years, I find The Meadows excellent in every respect and will continue to use it as long as they will have me! It is clean, friendly, well-appointed
with very caring staff. It feels like visiting an old friend when I go, so that I am comfortable, cared for and feel safe. The staff always have time for RAK's (random acts of kindness).

Since leaving school at the age of 16, I have worked in adult social care, with both the elderly and those with learning disabilities.


I started my career as a care assistant with Nottinghamshire County Council and worked my way up to a management position over a period of 15 years. During this time I completed my NVQ Level 4 in Care and Level 4 in Management and then went on to complete my Leadership and Management in Care Services Award.


I left Nottinghamshire County Council after 22 years looking for a new venture and joined the team at the Meadows as their Registered Manager in 2013.
