The staff at Pinxton Manor have been brilliant in caring for my Dad over the last 18 months, we couldn't have asked for more in any way.
In his last days they were so caring and professional, both to him and us as a family
At the very end of his life they were with us at every step.
Through my
dad's illness we saw various care homes and in Pinxton Manor I think we saw the best of it. To us they are a very special team of people.
As a family we can't thank the staff enough for all they did.

My gran was a resident there for 2 years until she passed in January 2022, and in that time all the staff showed such love and care for her.
I was extremely apprehensive about moving Gran into a care home, but all my concerns were soon forgotten due to the nature in which every single staff member
looked after her and made sure her best interests were advocated for.
The staff went above and beyond and as a family, we honestly can't convey how much this meant to us and gran.
The care is person-centred and focused on activities she enjoyed doing. Gran had advanced dementia and their training in this area really shone through.
Even after her passing, as a family, we have always been made to feel welcome at the Pinxton Manor and still visit frequently for the fayres and events.
The staff at Pinxton Manor truly are a credit to the caring profession.
Many thanks.

My wife moved into Pinxton Manor on 22 September 2022 with dementia. Her needs were urgent; she was about to be moved into a home I was not sure about the next day. Staff at Pinxton rang me to say they had a place in response to a previous enquiry. A nurse came out to asses her the next day! and she
moved into Pinxton on 22 September. It was the best move I ever made! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks to you when you visit. The care is first class, nothing is impossible and nothing is too much trouble. My wife loved it and would say: "Aren't they kind here' and 'Isn't it lovely here'. Lots of activities singing, games coffee mornings for visitors; time outside in the garden; pets.
She passed away on 22 July 2023. Her deterioration was quite sudden and dramatic. The staff were very supportive of me and my family during that awful time. Especially the nursing staff.
When I returned there to visit today and say thanks they were very sympathetic and caring.
Thank you Pinxton Manor.

Mum came to your home for respite.
She was nervous and upset when we dropped her off.
The staff reassured her and they were very kind to her.
She enjoyed all the Christmas activities and company.
Thank you for looking after Mum.

It may be unusual to write a review whilst care is ongoing but I wanted to reassure anyone looking for nursing care - just about the most difficult decision you will ever have to make. Mum has mixed dementia and a range of health issues which can make her nursing needs complex. When we conceeded that
we couldn't provide the expert care she needed, our first choice of home confirmed every nightmare you could have, and Mum rapidly went downhill. We moved Mum to Pinxton Manor about 18 months ago - the best decision we ever made. I absolutely believe she would not be with us now if we hadn't and the improvements in her health and mental well-being have been phenomenal. I can only echo the comments of others, the staff are amazing, the leadership superb and the ethos completely genuine. Every home can pay lip service to treating your loved one as you would, but to see it in action time and again is another matter and that is absolutely what you get from this amazing team.

Cannot thank the Manor enough for what they have done and continue to do for my mama and grandad (even though my grandad isn't a resident he's welcomed and looked after when he goes).
My mama's, who was fast-tracked for nursing care due to terminal comorbidities, health has improved! She is now eating
loads, enjoys having a laugh with staff and joining in with the activities. Her abilities and behaviour fluctuate so much but the staff are so kind and caring.
Upon entering the home you can tell it's a nice atmosphere, it's relaxed and homely. The staff are aware they are in the resident's home and that's apparent, it's such a friendly atmosphere.
The manager runs the home so well, it's clear the residents are the priority of her work and that she genuinely does care. All the staff are amazing - nurses, carers, activities, admin, domestic and kitchen staff. They all have therapeutic relationships with residents and their families. Could not wish for a better place to care for a loved one.

Throughout December the staff went out of their way to ensure the residents enjoyed the festive season - Christmas Fayre, Singalongs, visits from local nursery children, Pantomime, Games, Elf on a Shelf and several Christmas parties. I love to see photos of my mum happy and smiling. It's the same throughout
the year - not just for Christmas! Thank you to each and every one of the staff - priceless!

Our father was a resident at Pinxton Manor, requiring palliative end of life care. Every member of the team was absolutely fantastic, not only with the excellent care they provided to dad, but they also supported my brother and I emotionally. Staff were truly remarkable, from receiving us in reception,
the smiles and positivity from the entertainment staff and carers, to the professionalism of the medical staff and management, all showing genuine empathy for our situation and providing excellent care for our dad in his time of need. The end of life experience was almost unbelievable, both my brother and I felt so much love and support from every member of staff throughout the process, dad passed with great dignity and we were supported every step of the way. The culture of the place is what stands out, with great leadership and staff who genuinely cared for our dad like we did, we will be forever grateful.

My relative hasn’t had a good experience at this home.
He has never felt welcomed in any way at all.
He was supposed to be in there for rehabilitation, but this hasn’t happened.
He’s been made to feel that he’s a burden to staff.
Certain staff members have said that he’s too demanding because he
needs medication at certain times.
With the illnesses and conditions that he’s suffering from this home isn’t right for him.
The staff are dementia trained, and that is their only area of expertise.
It’s very upsetting to know how much hard work I’m going to have to do when my relative comes home.
One employee, a nurse, refused to administer prescribed nebulous, which he has to have to be able to get through a meal. This means he has been missing out on meals.
Therefore he’s becoming frailer.
Pinxton Manor isn’t the award winner it claims to be.

We are all shocked and saddened to hear of your experience with our home including the manager who was unaware you felt this way. As a company we always encourage relatives of loved ones to contact the home if they have any concerns and we apologise if you felt you couldn’t do this. I understand the manager has spoken to your relative residing at Pinxton Manor and feels there may have been some misunderstanding. Your review has now triggered our complaints procedure. Please be assured your comments are being fully investigated and the outcome will be shared with you. From our initial investigation we understand it has been difficult to make contact with you, which is also confirmed by the hospital and other professionals previously. I would therefore urge you to either contact the manager at Pinxton Manor, or through the home request a meeting or conversation with our Regional Manager, so we can hopefully clear up any misunderstandings or reassure you regarding your concerns and the ongoing care of your relative. Once again we are sorry your experience with Pinxton Manor has not met with your expectation.

If you are looking for the very best of person-centred care then Pinxton Manor provides it. The whole team show real skill and care in working with people with advanced dementia. From comforting my mum using a doll as a baby (Mum loved children) to providing sandwiches before her lunch when she was
disturbed about being hungry nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Pinxton Manor. The management and administration is excellent, the care staff extremely caring, the nursing staff are knowledgable and incredibly human and the place is always clean, tidy and provided great food.

Throughout Mum's time there I was kept informed about her care and included in any decisions that needed to be made. Mum was included in a host of lovely activities all appropriate for her needs. When Mum's end came she was treated with amazing dignity and respect throughout the whole period of her terminal phase. So was I, I will miss the tea, offers of food and entirely welcome hugs!

When my mum was unable to live at home after a fall. I visited Pinxton Manor due to its convenient location. I was impressed by the facilities and the friendly staff and chose it over another local home I visited. Mum settled in well and quickly became a favourite with the staff. Everyone I met genuinely
seemed to care for the residents and I enjoyed the freedom to visit Mum whenever I wanted ( although I did avoid mealtimes as suggested). After a few weeks, Mum told me "I like it here" which was a huge comfort to me. Unfortunately Mum was only a resident for a couple of months but in her last week, all the staff went out of their way to make a very sad and difficult time as easy as possible. I can't praise them enough for their support and am so pleased I chose Pinxton Manor for my mum.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.597) out of 10 for Pinxton Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.972 for Pinxton Manor is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pinxton Manor is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
