Spencer Grove has recently been rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC – February 2020. The home provides unique facilities with the very best in comfort and care in a stimulating environment. Spencer Grove provides nursing and residential care and offers both long-term and short-term (respite) care.

All bedrooms offer en-suite facilities (some including wet room shower) and can be furnished to suit the needs of the residents. Spencer Grove also has residential 'Care Suites' - offering all the benefits of residential care but contained within a beautifully appointed apartment, most with stunning, elevated views of the surrounding landscape.

For those with a love of the great outdoors the beautiful south-facing rooftop gardens provide stunning views across the Derbyshire countryside and offer a wonderful place to relax.

But the heart of Spencer Grove is its people. Staff receive extensive training so that they can deliver the best service to residents. Many have NVQ Level 2 diplomas in health and social care and also receive specialist training in end-of-life and dementia care.

Their activity co-ordinators work alongside residents to design a varied programme of activities including armchair exercise classes, painting and crafts and pampering days. Spencer Grove Care Home has an onsite hair salon and twice-weekly visits from a local hairdresser. The home also has a chiropodist who visits every eight weeks.

My husband went to Spencer Grove for end-of-life care. All the staff could not have done more to make his last weeks any better. I would highly recommend Spencer Grove and would like to take the opportunity to express my thanks for all the help and support given not only to my husband but also to us

My dad came to Spencer Grove for his end-of-life care. Both staff and management were so helpful and caring throughout and after Dad passed. I can't thank you enough for making Dad's last days so comfortable.

My mum came to Spencer Grove for palliative care. This time was both difficult and precious. The care, love and compassion was remarkable. The wonderful staff helped guide us through and my Mum was very happy and content and full of gratitude. We were able to go home each night and know Mum was safe
and loved. My dad was looked after with equal care. Thank you to all, our Spencer Grove family.

Spencer Grove was amazing. The way the home operated was superb. The staff were excellent and professional at all times. They took a weight off my shoulders and I could visit at any time.
During Mum's end-of-life care, they looked after her superbly and this helped me immensely to get through this
difficult time. Nothing was too much for them.
Would highly recommend it from the experience I had with my mum there.

We, as a family, cannot thank the carers, nurses, management, catering staff, and cleaners enough for the care you give to my mum. It’s always nice, clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Always get a warm welcome when we visit. It’s a lovely home. The residents are very well looked after. One of the nicest
homes I have been in.

My mum was only with the Spencer Grove team for a very short while. They all seemed very friendly and caring. It did feel a little isolated as she spent a lot of her time in her room as she was so ill. Maybe this was my fears, maybe having someone with her a lot did happen when I wasn't there. The compassion
on Mum's passing was beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to be a family at the end.

My brother and I have nothing but praise for the quality of care provided here. Spencer Grove was, in every sense, a lifeline, primarily for our mum but also for us. Knowing that she has round-the-clock care is such a huge relief. Staff here are welcoming and approachable, and we are kept informed of
all issues regarding Mum's health and well-being. Mum, at 97, has her ups and downs, but she has benefitted so much from being in the company of others and from the activities and entertainment provided. All staff are gems; the skill, patience, kindness and compassion with which they care for residents is wonderful to see. They help to make coming to Spencer Grove a joy.

We were lucky to find space for our elderly mother at Spencer Grove. The care was exemplary, and our mother was treated very kindly by all the staff in the 12 months she was there. We visited daily, and knowing our mother was safe there was a huge relief to us.

I visit at least once a week, with other family members visiting on other days. The welcome we received was lovely, warm and genuine. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, providing updates on Mum's requirements, moods, needs, etc. Mum herself is now well-settled into her home and is in a routine
and enjoys food, events, gardening, etc.

The care staff at Spencer Grove Care Home are fantastic. They treat their residents with both dignity and respect. In addition, they work closely with other agencies to ensure that the care the residents receive is of a high standard and make efforts to build connections with relatives. Senior carers
should be given credit for their knowledge of every resident and the professional manner in which they conduct themselves.

My mother is a resident of Spencer Grove Care Home for the last five months. I have always found the staff very professional and caring and only pleased to answer any concerns I may have, which have been minimal. They keep me informed about my mother's well-being. The activities are varied, and everyone
is encouraged to take part. The food is excellent, and my mother says that no matter what time of day or night, she can get a cup of tea. Keep up the good work - very pleased with all her care.

Since arriving at Spencer Grove, my father has improved with his mobility and general well-being. He even praises the staff for looking after him. Says they all talk to him. He has good days and bad days, and the staff care for him depending on his needs at the time. I have witnessed the care given
to other people, which have no mobility whatsoever; they are treated with dignity and compassion. Very dedicated staff. The entertainment team are excellent, making everyone smile.

Every member of the staff and team, whatever their role, was lovely, kind and caring. They looked after our mum with respect and dignity. Always making us welcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Our loved one was always smiling and relaxed. We, as a family, felt all her needs were met, and this

My grandmother suffered a terrible fall that affected her physically and cognitively, which meant she was no longer able to live at home and needed 24/7 care. This was a huge shock and a choice that the family did not want to have to make. We began looking for care homes, and straight away, we knew
Spencer Grove was the one. They have not disappointed. All of the staff have been kind and caring, and have really welcomed my grandmother into the home and made her feel comfortable and settled. The Covid pandemic has been an awfully upsetting time and put a huge strain on families and care homes, but finally, the home is open as normal, which is fantastic! We have been waiting so long for this! The staff have been welcoming and makes all visitors feel comfortable and at home. The staff make a real effort to entertain the residents and keep them smiling!

Mum had a bad fall at home in August 2020, fortunately, the carer found her and called the ambulance; she went to the hospital where they told us she had a massive break in her leg, an open fracture of her ankle and another stroke! She already had Dementia and other medical problems, so we were very
worried about her and realised she would have to be looked after 24/7. My sister had already looked at nursing homes, knowing it would be inevitable in the future. She contacted the manager, and she said they could accommodate her. It was heartbreaking for me, my sister and my brother as it was lockdown, and we couldn't go with her, and she was in isolation not knowing where she was? It has been a very hard time for everyone, residents, relatives, and all the care workers. I must say, we are very grateful for everything that Spencer Grove has done to make my mum's day-to-day life as happy as possible. She is looked after very well, and it has made a massive difference in our lives.

Samantha began her career at the Milford Care group as a kitchen assistant when she was just 13. In 2018, Milford Care invested in Samantha’s future with the company by sponsoring her to follow her dream of becoming a Nurse Associate. After 3000 hours of placement and exams to become a registered nurse, Samatha passed with flying colours and continued her career in the care home.


After becoming a nurse, Samantha decided to put herself forward for the role of Spencer Grove Home Manager. With her high levels of commitment, charisma, and unwavering positivity, Samantha achieved the role. Combined with her leadership experience, management skills, and 13 years of learning Milford Care inside out, it became apparent she was the perfect fit.
