The facilities at Valley Lodge Nursing Home include three lounges, the main lounge having a television and French doors to the courtyard garden, the snug little Haddon lounge where residents meet for a catch up, and the upstairs lounge with beautiful views of Derbyshire Peak District.

The home also boasts a craft room with a programme of entertainment run by an onsite activities coordinator. Everything from live entertainment, to painting, to pamper days, are all on offer regularly. Also with regular visits to the onsite hairdressing salon you will be looking your best, and with regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, physiotherapist and GP when required, you can feel very well looked after.

The Extra Care Unit, designed with dementia in mind, offers purpose-built en-suite accommodation. This area of the home offers round the clock care in this secure and safe environment.

Everything from menu boards with pictures to help residents recognise what's for dinner, to a clock that indicates whether it is day or night to help residents get a good night's sleep, makes sure residents get the best care.

This home also caters for nursing needs, with a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day. All equipment is on hand to ensure you have everything you need to be well cared for.

There is always something happening at this care home - activities are varied and entertaining. Staff are very caring and always treat the residents with respect. My old friend seems very happy there despite living on a fairly isolated farm all her life.

Moving mum here was a difficult decision but I have not regretted the move at any point. I love the family atmosphere. The staff are all involved and approachable. Due to my parents' Alzheimers, she needs lots of stimulation, to see her face light up when the dogs come to greet her is a joy. Thank you.

I have only been once to visit a friend and was only there for 1 hour and stayed in my friend's room. But was greeted at the main reception by a very pleasant lady who took me up to my friends' room. All the staff on the way up were very nice and helpful. Everywhere looked very well kept, neat and tidy
and clean and my friend had a nice room, it was quite small but adequate. My friend is very happy there.

Valley Lodge is an inspirational place. The staff are kindness itself and are 100% engaged with the users. The activities are exceptionally good.
The one flaw is the new pre-prepped food, which is a very poor substitute for home food. The high level of fees cannot justify poor food.

Mum has been in Valley Lodge, Matlock, just three weeks and is settling well and happy. We as a family are very impressed with Valley Lodge, the staff have all been so friendly, efficient, helpful and happy smiley faces. They are all brilliant with Mum. She's also enjoying all the lovely food. The home
is always warm, comfortable, welcoming and the refurbishment is great, and it has a lovely private garden. From the first time we visited to look around, we knew it was the right place and for Mom to return to Matlock close to family.

My mother was a Valley Lodge resident for seven and a half years. From the very first time we visited to see what Valley Lodge was like back in January 2016, when they showed us round without an appointment (we just turned up one evening), I have been hugely impressed with everything. Even though my
mother was totally blind when she came to Valley Lodge, she was brilliantly cared for. All her other faculties were A1 until she was 101. The staff are the best and most important part of Valley Lodge; the nurse, manager, friendly staff and everyone. Valley Lodge keeps staff for far longer than other homes; often for more than 20 years! That tells you something. We were always hugely impressed by the cleanliness of the place and recently the communications between residents, carers and management have been revolutionised. One feels involved, even at a distance. A huge thank you to everyone at Valley Lodge from 2016 through to 2023 for keeping my mother safe, healthy (she never even contracted Covid) and cheerful throughout.

I knew Valley Lodge Nursing Home was the right place for my mum as soon as I walked through the door. She moved to live there in July this year, and has been very happy and settled ever since. On my many visits since then, I've had plenty of opportunities to see how things work, and can honestly say
the care is quite exceptional. The staff are completely devoted to the residents. The home is comfortable and warm, the food is excellent - all cooked on-site, and very varied - and there is always plenty going on. As a regular visitor, I always feel very welcome and in fact, almost feel part of the Valley Lodge family myself. It is a great relief to know my mum is happy, safe and well cared for, and I cannot thank everyone enough.

We needed emergency respite for my mother and it was urgent. After talking to the most amazing manager, she came out to visit Mum and booked her in that day. Every single member of staff has been so caring and invested in Mum. Her care is personal and unique to her needs. Another staff member has liaised
constantly with her new doctor and has kept us updated on everything. We have had a very difficult time with Mum's care needs and everyone at Valley Lodge has taken over this and we could not thank them enough for their humanity, compassion and empathy, not just for Mum, but for all of us.

My father is well cared for. He is comfortable and treated with dignity and warmth. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Dad is kept clean and tidy and checked on regularly. This was the best nursing home option we looked at and we have been very pleased with our decision.

The manager was very helpful in getting a room for my mum when she was discharged from hospital. She is currently 102 years old and is not able to take part in activities but is looked after. She occasionally has to wait to be taken to the toilet, I think this is when the staff are tied up elsewhere.

Since my mum moved to the care home after her fall, we feel she has been well looked after.

My Grandad was only under the care at Valley Lodge for a week, but I can't fault them one little bit. The care staff was lovely and so supportive and always had Grandad's best interests. All Covid rules and regulations were adhered to. Would recommend Valley Lodge to any family and friends. Thank you

I am Rebecca and am delighted to be the manager of Valley Lodge.

I am a registered nurse and like nothing more than getting stuck into care.

I believe that one of my main roles as a manger is to invest in the staff so that they are confident and competent in their role. By doing this, the staff are then able to deliver outstanding care to our residents.

I also believe that we are here to live every day to the full and so this is the ethos of the home.

When I am not at work I have 3 fabulous daughters and 3 dogs (plus assortment of other animals!) who I love to walk in the local woodland.
