The facilities at Valley Lodge Nursing Home include three lounges, the main lounge having a television and French doors to the courtyard garden, the snug little Haddon lounge where residents meet for a catch up, and the upstairs lounge with beautiful views of Derbyshire Peak District.

The home also boasts a craft room with a programme of entertainment run by an onsite activities coordinator. Everything from live entertainment, to painting, to pamper days, are all on offer regularly. Also with regular visits to the onsite hairdressing salon you will be looking your best, and with regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, physiotherapist and GP when required, you can feel very well looked after.

The Extra Care Unit, designed with dementia in mind, offers purpose-built en-suite accommodation. This area of the home offers round the clock care in this secure and safe environment.

Everything from menu boards with pictures to help residents recognise what's for dinner, to a clock that indicates whether it is day or night to help residents get a good night's sleep, makes sure residents get the best care.

This home also caters for nursing needs, with a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day. All equipment is on hand to ensure you have everything you need to be well cared for.

I am a lunch club member. I love to come. I have made many good friends, it gets me out of my home. I also come to Valley Lodge for respite care. The care is wonderful. I love to join in with all the activities on offer, the home is very clean, I am always made very welcome.

My sister moved in here about 6 weeks ago, she has settled in very well. Her room is amazing and she says she is really happy and contented here. My sister joins in with all the activities that are on offer here. She would recommend this home to anyone.

Following a very difficult period in hospital and the trauma of having to give up living independently mum arrived at Valley Lodge Nursing Home confused, upset and thoroughly fed up with life. The staff have been so kind and patient with her even when she appears not to appreciate it. She is taking
some time to settle but they are doing everything they can to make her feel comfortable. From the family's point of view we are so relieved to have found this home, we viewed many and have been impressed with the professional way it is run, range of activities, cleanliness and know mum is now safe. This lovely home is extremely good value for money.

My mother attended this Care Home for Respite Care, and I was very satisfied and happy with the level of care and help she received whilst staying in the home.
The staff were courteous and nothing was too much trouble.
I visited regularly and felt on each visit the place was clean and tidy, many activities
were carried out for residents.
Would certainly recommend - very nice feel to the place - well done!

Attend lunch club weekly, given nice welcome each week. Made friends, it is a welcome break to the isolation of living alone. The club provides good value for the money. Look forward to the club and often asked about it. Missed the club when it was not available for a month.

Enjoy coming to lunch club, I have made many friends always look forward to Wednesday lunch club as we have lots to talk about and we get little trips out, food is always good, don't want to go home.

Staff very caring couldn't do more. Activity staff conscientious, though it would be good if more stimulating activities were available, though I realise the limitations of some residents may not allow this. The food is good. Home kept exceptionally clean. Communication between management and staff
seems very poor. I wish more care were taken with the positioning of mum in her wheelchair she never seems to have her bottom right back

I visit Valley Lodge Nursing Home on a monthly basis for the last two years. I walk around watching the staff and how they interact with the residents. I monitor their training needs, policy and procedure. I talk with the staff and I have got to know some of the residents and I can tell by their facial
expressions how they are feeling. I love watching the residents expressions when the girls sit and talk to them. They always take time with their memory boxes. It is a pleasure to see and I love the staff and the way they treat each resident as an individual.

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

I am Rebecca and am delighted to be the manager of Valley Lodge.

I am a registered nurse and like nothing more than getting stuck into care.

I believe that one of my main roles as a manger is to invest in the staff so that they are confident and competent in their role. By doing this, the staff are then able to deliver outstanding care to our residents.

I also believe that we are here to live every day to the full and so this is the ethos of the home.

When I am not at work I have 3 fabulous daughters and 3 dogs (plus assortment of other animals!) who I love to walk in the local woodland.
