Very caring nursing and care staff and management. I was impressed that my mother always look well cared for - the staff facilitated phone communication every day despite the challenges of lockdown. Restricted visiting was supported when government restrictions allowed. Mum was supported with care and
compassion in the difficult last weeks of her life. I too felt supported by some lovely staff.

My dad went into Victoria Park Care Home on an end of life plan. Even though he, unfortunately, wasn't a resident for very long, the staff were very friendly, professional and supportive. Keeping me updated each day on his progress. They nursed my dad with dignity, respect and excellent care, right
up until the end.

My aunty has made the transition to nursing care recently and has found it difficult. The staff have made the transition much easier, they are very welcoming to visitors and the care and support is fantastic. I know my Aunty is in safe hands and this puts the families mind at rest at a difficult time.

My mother recently passed away after spending 2 and a half years at the home. At all times, she had excellent care from all the staff and I would like to thank each and every one of them.

My mum needed short term care due to a broken leg. Everyone at the home has been lovely and caring.
Mum was upset on the first day but was soon put at ease and settled quite quickly.

Job Title: Home Manager

Introducing Shini Jose, Home Manager at Victoria Park, Ilkeston


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“To me, kind care means being willing to put the needs of others first and treating them with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect.”


As a registered nurse with continuing health care assessor experience, Shini has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.


Talking about her decision to work in the care sector, Shini said:


“I love caring, as caring for others is incredibly rewarding and I can positively influence the lives of other people”.


As Home Manager for Victoria Park, Shini closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Shini remarked:


“I like making connections with people and I enjoy being part of the team, and I like being able to make a positive influence and help make people feel happy and safe. I get called "Smiley" instead of Shini, as people seem to always remember my smiley face rather than my name!”


Outside of work, Shini enjoys reading and is trained in Indian classical dances.
