A home rich in cultural diversity, Sherwood Forest provides residential, dementia, nursing care and palliative care.

The team, many of whom have been with the home for over 10 years, also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is being well cared for.

There are so many faiths and cultures in the home, with a team who speak several Asian languages, as well as English.

The residents enjoy home-cooked meals, with a variety of Asian and English dishes, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to homemade curries and daal dishes. And there are freshly baked cakes and treats every day for afternoon tea. The chef likes to spend time with the residents to get their feedback, which helps to shape the menu. And there is a special menu for special occasions, from Diwali to traditional afternoon tea.

There are lots of activities to enjoy, from baking and pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages, to crafts, music and visits from well-behaved dogs. And the enclosed garden is a lovely space to enjoy the warmer weather.

The local community is embraced into life in the home, from visiting school children to musical entertainers.

There is a conservatory and welcoming lounges to relax in and spend time enjoying activities or relaxing with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And the home has a private family and friends Facebook page, where members can see what the residents have been enjoying doing.

The home also has a hair salon, for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

My wife has received excellent care from all the staff of the nursing home. She went into the home in July, suffering from severe dementia. It's hard to let someone who you've loved and cherished go into care, but any doubts I had were soon eradicated because the home is now an extended family.
She
is dancing and joining in with the activities of the home. I can recommend Sherwood Forest to anyone who is looking for care for their relatives because of the friendly professional care that my wife has received since she entered the home five months ago!

I have found everything about this home to be really good. All the staff are very friendly and won't for nothing. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff will always find something for people to do during the day and have entertainment on a regular basis.

Our mum has been at Sherwood Forest for nearly three years now. The staff are always pleasant and cannot do enough for you when you visit. They all appear friendly and caring when dealing with Mum, which can be very challenging at times. The food is excellent, and the activities have much improved with
new staff and since Covid restrictions have reduced.

Very good care from an excellent manager and a fantastic team.
Care, happiness and well-being are paramount at Sherwood, and whenever information and updates are received from staff, they are done in a positive way - clearly, nothing is too much to ask of the team to enable a very high level of care
to be received by my father.
It is easy to arrange visits and take my father out, and the staff are more than willing to make both situations very easy and beneficial for me and my father and others that visit.

My husband has lived at Sherwood Forest home since February this year. He is very well cared for; the nursing staff always contact me if there is a concern, no matter how small. Care staff are friendly and cheerful towards residents and visitors. My husband is settled in the home and appears contented
when I visit.

My husband moved here from the hospital, and he settled very quickly, much to my surprise. The staff seem to know my husband and cater for his needs very well and with care. He enjoys his meals and always says how good the food is. Unfortunately, he has had a couple of infections (not Covid), but he
had received prompt medical care.

We have used Sherwood sanctuary for just a few months and find the service and care very good. The staff seem very caring, and we, as a family, are always informed of any problems or upsets. My husband seems quite relaxed and settled at Sherwood, and I hope this continues.

My grandmother came to this care home in June 2021. It has taken some time for her to settle in, and at times, we have felt as though my grandmother has been difficult to deal with as she often rings the buzzer. Most staff have commented on this and how she shouts out loud for a staff member to help
her. This is part of her dementia, and we feel more patients and understanding is needed with her.

The staff are very good, and my dad seems settled. He has his moments due to his dementia, but overall, I am pleased with the home, and if there are any problems with Dad, the home always lets the family aware, so, yes, we are pleased.
