My friend moved into Weston Mount Lodge approximately four years ago. And the quality of care he has and is receiving is excellent. My friend, at times, can express lots challenging behaviour but I have to say, all the staff manage this so well with compassion, understanding and kindness for which
I thank everyone so much. They had a new manager this year who has worked so hard to bring in lots of extra training, team building and of course, great activities. Especially the Christmas party which I was lucky to join in with. It's really obvious how hard everyone had worked to make it such a success. The home itself is spotless and very welcoming to other professionals and visitors. The food is also excellent and all dietary needs met. It's a home I will recommend to anyone who wants your family or friend who move there to feel valued and loved. A big thank you to you all.

My relative recently moved into Western Mount Nursing Home from a hospital setting, and I couldn't be more pleased with the care they are receiving. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly feels like a home away from home. The food is delicious
and home-cooked, far exceeding the quality of what we experienced in the hospital. It's comforting to know my relative is enjoying nutritious and tasty meals. The management team goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly and that all the residents' needs are met. They have been a tremendous support during a challenging time, and I am incredibly grateful for their dedication. Thank you, Western Mount, for being there when we had nowhere else to turn. Your exceptional care and compassion have made all the difference.

It is not a good place at all, not clean or safe for residents and a generally run down and poorly managed home where no care goes into the actual care. We were lucky to get our family member out of here but many aren't so lucky.

Reply from Kay Mcilwee, Manager at Western Mount Lodge

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for your feedback. At Western Mount Lodge, we take all comments seriously and are committed to delivering the highest standards of care. However, we were both shocked and disappointed by the content of your review, as it does not align with the reality of the interactions we had with your family during the resident's stay.

1.   No Prior Concerns: At no point during the resident's time with us did your family raise any concerns or complaints regarding the care provided. If there had been issues, we would have addressed them immediately, as we always do.

2.   Positive Feedback: On several occasions, your family expressed gratitude for the care provided. We were regularly reassured by your positive comments during visits, which greatly encouraged our staff.

3.   When the decision was made to transfer the resident to another care home to be closer to his wife, it was an emotional moment for everyone. The resident was visibly upset, and our manager offered comfort and support during this difficult time. We also recall the resident's daughter-in-law warmly thanking our manager for the care provided during his stay.

Given these facts, your review does not reflect our experiences, and frankly, we find it misleading. If you would like to discuss this further, we are open to a direct and constructive conversation.
Sincerely,
Kay Mcilwee

I can't say enough great things about this home. The home itself is beautiful, a very lovely and traditional environment. The staff are the most delightful people. When you enter the home you can feel the warmth of it. My great-grandad does loads of different activities. He claims he's the best at bingo.
But overall just a lovely home.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.126)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.126) out of 10 for Western Mount Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.043 for Western Mount Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (7 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.043

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.083 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Western Mount Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
