The staff have been so helpful under very difficult circumstances. Some have gone above and beyond and helped us as a family deal with the hospitals and discharge process which can be difficult. I felt the staff cared for my dad and did their best for him. They talked to the family and gave us their
time to discuss any concerns. Thank you.

Fantastic care for my mum, she smiles and laughs every day. When I ask for anything extra the staff help out as soon as possible. My mum has been very happy for 3 years at Cedar Court, 97 years old now and happy.

From our first meeting with the deputy manager, we were very happy for my mum to be admitted as a resident.
Mum has been shown kindness and received professional care from day one. Needless to say, my mum is very happy, relaxed and content.
A very nice touch is that she has been asked every day what
would she like for breakfast, the staff have been very happy to help fulfil her requests.
Food is good quality and varied, bed is comfortable, nursing staff are looking after my mum's clinical needs.
All the staff are friendly, have a caring attitude and are working along with the mum's limitations at this time, as she is mainly confined to her bed. Hopefully, when she is more mobile she will be able to enjoy activities with the other residents.

From the moment I walked into Cedar Court, I knew this was where my dad would live out his days and receive palliative care. I was welcomed by management who met with me and my friend that day, who helped make a difficult decision easier. All staff showed respect, care and compassion for not only my
dad but for all our family too and work so hard as a team. There were many highs and lows for us all during this time. We shared love, laughter and many tears whilst making special memories with dad and staff. After 11 weeks, dad passed away 3rd September 2024. Throughout our loss the home continued to support us. We are not only lost without spending each day with dad but we miss seeing the staff too. They all worked endlessly to keep dad happy and comfortable with dignity. We thank all the nurses for keeping him as pain free as possible and helping us to understand what was happening with him. Dad loved you all and so do we. THANK YOU to all staff at Cedar Court who cared for my dad.

Really pleased with every aspect of the home, staff always listen and know a lot about each resident. The home is kept clean and has modern decor. Our uncle is really happy here. Never had a problem with any aspect at all, so pleased. The food is also enjoyed, dining area has plenty of room, so each
resident has plenty of space. Really like there’s so much to get involved in, whether it’s keeping fit, board games, reading, or if you don’t want to, either go in the TV lounge, which is really kept so nice, or stay in your own room.

My father has been looked after really well. He looks healthy and content. He came in originally for respite care but stayed because of Covid-19.

Recently, Cedar Court allowed us outside visits to see loved ones - the first time since March when lockdown commenced. I would like to say a big thank you to the manager and the staff at Cedar Court for a well organised visit where I felt safe as well as relaxed. All procedures were implemented to
the right standard, whilst also leaving a nice and relaxed atmosphere in the gardens. Once again, thank you Cedar Court!

My father is a reablement resident at Cedar Court Care Home, he has been there for several weeks now, and with the current circumstances, I have not been able to visit him. I had a phone call on Monday from the Manager to update me on how my father is doing and the precautions the home are taking to
protect him and other residents from the Coronavirus.
I felt the call and information in the call were very good, and I felt reassured by the Manager, who was very kind, empathic and caring during the call.
Cedar Court staff are doing a great job, the Manager has said they have no coronavirus outbreaks in the home. Great work.

My mother is a resident in the nursing area of Cedar Court. She has been a resident for a while but I want to particularly say how grateful I am for the care given to her and the other residents during the current crisis. The manager and her staff I know will do everything in their power to protect
the vulnerable residents in their care. Under normal circumstances they care for the residents well, my mum is looked after well, she is happy, well-fed and kept safe by the staff but during this difficult time, they have been outstanding doing everything in their power to look after our most precious relatives. Thank you.

I found the staff to be very uncaring and callous. For instance, I asked for a chair to be moved in the lounge so that I could sit next to my dad and no one was willing to help. In the end, another visitor helped me. I am disabled and yet all the disabled spaces in the car park were taken and none of
them were displaying a disabled badge. This meant that it was a struggle to visit my dad. My dad had complained of chronic diarrhoea for two weeks. On arriving home we discovered that he had been given laxatives that he did not need. Despite mentioning it to the staff, nothing was done. I understand that many residents were also suffering from diarrhoea. When I came to take him home, the staff member on duty made an excuse and did not help us. This meant that we had to struggle with my dad's belongings - myself with a walking stick, bags etc. and my dad with a walking frame. It took a few journeys to get his things to the car. There were no towels or a light bulb in the room for two days. The TV was not working in the room.

Thank you for your comments regarding the care provided to your father whilst staying at Cedar Court. In relation to your concerns regarding the parking, we are aware of this and working with the neighbouring gym to prevent this. Meetings have also been held between the management team and our carer colleagues regarding the experience and level of care provided to your father. Please be assured that we strive to ensure our residents are cared for in a comfortable environment with a good choice of food available to them at all times.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.740)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.740) out of 10 for Cedar Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.759 for Cedar Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.759

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.981 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.481

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
