Magna Care Home is a recently-refurbished home conveniently located in the centre of Wigston in Leicestershire.

Providing quality dementia care to older people, the home has been carefully designed with ultimate comfort in mind. The two sitting rooms offer the perfect spot to relax and spend time with other residents meanwhile meals prepared by the catering team can be enjoyed in either of the two spacious dining rooms. The team work hard to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable for residents, providing a variety of meals, catering for dietary requirements and welcoming visitors at any time.

Learning about the preferences of each individual resident, the team encourage everyone to take an active part in life at Magna Care Home. Whether they want to be fully involved in the enriching activities programme or join in as and when they wish, residents benefit from an engaging lifestyle that offers plenty of things to look forward to.

Community is also an integral part of life at Magna Care Home. The team is dedicated to supporting residents to build strong relationships in the Wigston neighbourhood, and regularly organise events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

My auntie has been a resident at the care home for at least five years. And every time I go the home it always looks and smells clean. The staff are really lovely, very welcoming and get you cups of tea/coffee.
Every time I've been, the food is exceptional, nothing seems too much trouble for the staff
and when the home holds an event, you are invited to join in. I would definitely recommend one of my family to be a resident at the home.

So much thanks to the amazing team here. I am able to support the care given to my mum alongside the staff. In order to ensure that this happens, I am made to feel welcome 24/7 and when I have felt the need to stay overnight in my Mum's room I have been provided with bedding and a mattress. The staff
are an absolute asset at Magna. What a warm, caring and welcoming team. So many thanks for everything you do.

Mum is very well looked after, always dressed nicely and clean and tidy. Loves her meals and we are extremely pleased with the care she receives. Staff always very welcoming and friendly. We would not be able to cope without this lovely home.

My dad is receiving excellent care at Magna Care Home. He is kept warm, clean and comfortable. The food is a very good standard with a varied menu each day. My dad loves his cooked breakfasts. The staff are all very helpful and kind and treat my dad with the dignity he deserves. Magna Care Home have
an excellent activities programme for all residents to join in if they wish. I would not wish for my dad to be anywhere else, he is happy and content. A big thank you to all members of staff and management for everything you do.

Staff are friendly, helpful, considerate and caring. They cannot do enough to help. The atmosphere is very homely and comfortable. I feel that part of the reason for this is that the ground floor, which is what I am reviewing, is not too big or impersonal. It is small enough to warrant these comments

My mother has been at Magna Care Home for about a year. I have always found staff friendly and helpful. Mum always looks dressed well and well cared for.
Throughout the recent COVID situation even when we couldn't visit, we were well informed about Mum's wellbeing, always kept up to date with any changes
eg: medication. I feel Mum is in the best place she could be.

As a retired NHS Paramedic, I have experienced over my 25 years of service many care homes of all sizes and standards when attending or returning a resident. I chose Magna Care Home for my wife as her husband of 32 years and Attorney because I believe the relationship between residents and staff was
one of the best I had witnessed on more than one occasion. Clean rooms and corridors are fine and of course, expected, but too often at some other care homes, some staff treat residents as a nuisance or secondary to staff needs. This is not evident at Magna Care Home. When visiting my wife, I am never disappointed with the warm attention both I and my wife receive.

Having Power of Attorney of my friends Health and Welfare, it was essential I was sure her place of accommodation was the best for all her needs. It has proved all I could have wished for at Magna Care Home. There are interesting displays of kindness on view for all the see, which give reassurance.
I get a feeling of a dedicated team together ensuring top-quality care. Care and kindness are given individually and in group surroundings. I am delighted to hear my friend gives her own thanks to carers and is regarded as "a lovely lady". The activities are stimulating, well thought through with evidence of happiness and have a good time. I am very grateful my friend's health has remained stable, which at 92-years, is heartwarming.

An amazing safe, caring and supportive place for my mum to live in. The staff and residents are very kind and the atmosphere is so homely. During covid lockdown, the staff have been so supportive with phone calls and video calls with mum, and are always reachable and helpful to us all and listen to

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me is being friendly, generous, considerate and kind-natured to Residents and their loved ones at all times.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Chipo has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who has progressed in her career to Home Manager level, after qualifying as a registered nurse in 2000.


Chipo closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Chipo remarked: “I love seeing that our Residents are smiling, happy and content in a homely environment.”


Chipo credits her biggest achievement to beginning her career as an overseas nurse, before becoming a Home Manager at HC-One.


Outside of work, Chipo enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as practising her faith.
