Magna Care Home is a recently-refurbished home conveniently located in the centre of Wigston in Leicestershire.

Providing quality dementia care to older people, the home has been carefully designed with ultimate comfort in mind. The two sitting rooms offer the perfect spot to relax and spend time with other residents meanwhile meals prepared by the catering team can be enjoyed in either of the two spacious dining rooms. The team work hard to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable for residents, providing a variety of meals, catering for dietary requirements and welcoming visitors at any time.

Learning about the preferences of each individual resident, the team encourage everyone to take an active part in life at Magna Care Home. Whether they want to be fully involved in the enriching activities programme or join in as and when they wish, residents benefit from an engaging lifestyle that offers plenty of things to look forward to.

Community is also an integral part of life at Magna Care Home. The team is dedicated to supporting residents to build strong relationships in the Wigston neighbourhood, and regularly organise events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

I find all the workforce of Magna Care Home very dedicated to the job and the welfare of their residents. I know I can sleep at night knowing my mother is well looked after and in a very safe environment.

The team are fantastic, kind and give great care to my grandmother. Always smiles when you arrive and always willing to answer questions, give updates and help. It's great to know my grandmother is in safe caring hands.

Mum has been a resident of Magna Care Home since February 2019. We have always been pleased with the care she has received but since Covid-19 took hold in March 2020 the staff have gone above and beyond our expectations to ensure Mum is looked after both physically and mentally. As a family, it is so
hard not to have been able to visit in person but the activities girl has made sure we have weekly video calls and it really puts our minds at ease to see Mum so happy and cheerful every time. Over the last 4 months, the staff have been acting as carers, relatives and friends to the residents and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

My Father-in-law became a resident at Magna Care Home in March 2020, as a family this was a very stressful time for us as it was around the time of lockdown due to Covid and we were unable to visit the home before he moved in. My Father-in-law has dementia and can not vocalise what he is feeling or
any needs that he may have. I can not recommend Magna Care Home enough for the love and care that they have shown my Father-in-law and also to us, the family. We have had many questions and ring up on a daily basis to see how he is. The staff are always willing and happy to talk to us and let us know how he is doing, no matter the time that we ring or the questions that we may have. The facilities are amazing and the staff are always thinking up new ideas and ways to keep the residents happy and entertained. The events coordinator even arranged for us to have regular facetime catch-ups with my Father-in-law which are just amazing. We can not wait to visit him and the wonderful staff.

I would like to place on record my sincere thanks and gratitude to the management and staff who through their professionalism and vocation, gave a great deal of care and support to Dad and really made him feel loved.

Staff extremely friendly and attentive to service users needs. Users seem to be clean and adequately dressed - well looked after. Food adequate and plentiful with good menu. Staff work under stressful conditions due to users conditions. I attended an arranged entertainment 13/2/20 which was very well
attended both by users and family/friends. Well organised by entertainment lady and seemingly enjoyed by visitors and users.

On my visit to the UK to see family and friends, I visited my auntie and was feeling very sad about her situation and the knowledge of her illness. On arrival, I was extremely surprised at how welcoming and happy most of the staff were; this has an immediate effect on the residence.
Dinner time was
well thought out and planned for the ability of every resident. After lunch, activities were played and to see my auntie happy, smiling and signing was a pleasure.

Friday 13th December was the residents' Christmas party which was very well organised by the activity coordinator. The church service was good and the Christmas buffet was a lovely spread. The afternoon entertainment was really good. It was great to see so many faces on the day. The activity coordinator
also decorated the home beautifully for Christmas.

I think Magna is a lovely home for my dad. He is very happy and settled. The staff are friendly and kind to Dad. The Christmas party last week was excellent, well organised and the entertainment was good. There were lots of visitors also enjoying the party. Well done to the staff who worked hard to

Very happy with the care provided here. My dad is well looked after and treated with respect and dignity. Attended a very well organised Christmas party which everyone really enjoyed. Lovely staff, made visitors feel very welcome and part of the 'family'. My friend was very comfortable here. A lot of effort goes into the events for the residents. The staff were very good with accommodating/adjusting my friend's likes and dislikes concerning food and activities.

My uncle had been in two previous care homes but was more settled here than he was in the others. The staff were more caring and welcoming. They also kept me informed at every opportunity. Extremely caring when he passed away both to him and his family.

Mum really enjoys the singers that come in, (so do I, they are very good). Staff work very hard decorating and organising the events.
I do feel that the number of carers could be increased as some residents require 2 carers to assist which leaves the lounge short at times. Most residents need help
to go to the toilet and to be moved.

We have always found the staff very helpful and keep us well informed regarding any change my uncles health or change of medication. My only concern is both myself and his friend find him unshaven, very untidy and dirty clothing when visiting.

We moved dad here in the beginning of the summer after a stay in a different care home where he didn't settle at all. Instantly, dad moved here and was made very welcome and treated like one of the family. He started eating better and like the food and staff. We are all made to feel welcome and is like
one big family. Dad often enjoys activities organised by the team and genuinely enjoys being here. I feel very happy leaving dad here when I leave. Staff are excellent. Thank you.

The staff at Magna Care Home are all hard working and dare about all the residents in every possible way.
They are extremely professional and always on hand. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They always greet you with a smile and will answer any question you may have.

Chipo Mupunga

Job Title: Home Manager

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me is being friendly, generous, considerate and kind-natured to Residents and their loved ones at all times.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Chipo has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who has progressed in her career to Home Manager level, after qualifying as a registered nurse in 2000.


Chipo closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Chipo remarked: “I love seeing that our Residents are smiling, happy and content in a homely environment.”


Chipo credits her biggest achievement to beginning her career as an overseas nurse, before becoming a Home Manager at HC-One.


Outside of work, Chipo enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as practising her faith.
