Magna Care Home is a recently-refurbished home conveniently located in the centre of Wigston in Leicestershire.

Providing quality dementia care to older people, the home has been carefully designed with ultimate comfort in mind. The two sitting rooms offer the perfect spot to relax and spend time with other residents meanwhile meals prepared by the catering team can be enjoyed in either of the two spacious dining rooms. The team work hard to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable for residents, providing a variety of meals, catering for dietary requirements and welcoming visitors at any time.

Learning about the preferences of each individual resident, the team encourage everyone to take an active part in life at Magna Care Home. Whether they want to be fully involved in the enriching activities programme or join in as and when they wish, residents benefit from an engaging lifestyle that offers plenty of things to look forward to.

Community is also an integral part of life at Magna Care Home. The team is dedicated to supporting residents to build strong relationships in the Wigston neighbourhood, and regularly organise events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

As a family, we are happy to have Dad here, where we know he is looked after and cared for. Staff are excellent. We feel they go above and beyond for us. All staff make us feel comfortable when visiting and are ready to support our worries and concerns. Love joining in special events too.

The home is always welcoming. Staff friendly and willing to help. My Dad likes it here. They have regular entertainment - singers coming in and fetes. Food is excellent with a choice offered.

This appears to be a well run, clean and very caring facility and all staff are friendly and professional. The small touches and thoughtfulness of those who are caring for my mother is obvious and much appreciated.

My mum has settled in really well here at Magna Care Home and seems very happy here.
Everybody is very helpful if any problems it is always dealt with there. Activities are always on and join in and I have been out on trips to Costa I really enjoyed the entertainment days.

When I visit my friend I find the staff very friendly. Always willing to talk to you. Home is very clean and no nasty smells. I usually visit in an afternoon and always get offered a cup of tea and a cake.

I have found the staff are very pleasant and helpful. If you need to know anything they will do their best to answer any question. The only thing I find wrong is the odour on the first floor. Sometimes you cannot get on your car park because it is occupied by the keep fit club across the road. Also,
there are no blue badge bays as I can see.

Halloween Day was very good with a good singer who played the guitar.
My wife was waving her arms in good time to music and enjoying herself, followed up by a buffet.
All the staff had gone to a lot of trouble with their costumes and decoration of the room.

Whenever I visited, the team clearly knew each resident, talked to them and listened to them. In the case of my Dad, everyone allowed him to be in whatever world he happened to be in and interacted with him on that basis. Allowing him to feel valued.
I witnessed not just physical and medical care,
but, the mental and social elements of care too. Not just lip service to it – real proper interaction. The level of care provided to Dad was only rivalled by that given to me as relative and visitor. Knowing he was looked after and as happy as could be, was important and helped me through the night. But the actual compassion and care shown to me directly demonstrated what exemplary people are in the team. I was always made to feel welcome, time was always made if I wanted to discuss Dad or just have a chat and cup of tea. This helped make it a ‘home’ for Dad as opposed to simply a care home. Everyone’s attitude made me consider it as his home, and that lightened the load for me enormously.

I attended the open day with my daughter and friend. We had a delightful day. The choir was most enjoyable. The staff/team worked very hard to ensure that the residents and visitors were looked after. The food was nice and there were some lovely raffle prizes.
The sun was shining which was an added
bonus. A great idea and very much appreciated.

My sister is well cared for by patient, caring staff. They are kind and helpful even when she has a strange mood or is grumpy and I commend them for their patience under provocation. When we visit we are made welcome and that is what enables us to visit regularly. The home is always clean and tidy,

My sister has been a resident of Magna Care Home since 2012 and I have been to the home hundreds of times since then. I have always felt very welcome at the home. The staff are very friendly and caring. My sister has never complained about her care and has been happy whilst living there. The home is
always clean and tidy with resident's receiving excellent care. The food is appetising and varied. I do not feel you could get better care anywhere. If I should need care in the future, I would be happy to stay there.

Chipo Mupunga

Job Title: Home Manager

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me is being friendly, generous, considerate and kind-natured to Residents and their loved ones at all times.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Chipo has gained a wealth of experience in providing care to elderly people to help enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who has progressed in her career to Home Manager level, after qualifying as a registered nurse in 2000.


Chipo closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoyed most about her role, Chipo remarked: “I love seeing that our Residents are smiling, happy and content in a homely environment.”


Chipo credits her biggest achievement to beginning her career as an overseas nurse, before becoming a Home Manager at HC-One.


Outside of work, Chipo enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as practising her faith.
