The experienced care team include registered nurses and provide round the clock professional support, tailored to the needs of each resident. Beckside was also one of the first care homes to achieve the Gold Standards Framework, a special award recognising excellent palliative care.

To enhance residents’ wellbeing, there is a dedicated activities coordinator, who organises a wide-ranging programme of outings and activities to enable them to pursue their preferred interests and hobbies.

The Senior Cook and her team are proud to provide delicious, traditional home-cooked meals catering for every taste and occasion.

    Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

Andrea

Andrea Brooks

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1995

Andrea began her career with the Trust in September 1995 as a relief carer working in the residential and nursing unit gaining invaluable experience working with the nursing team. Andrea went on to be promoted to the role of Senior Carer and at that time achieved her NVQ Level 2. Andrea then went on to become a Care Leader and achieved her NVQ Level 3. Andrea later became a Home Manager and achieved her QCF Diploma Level 5.


Andrea loves coming to work and has an excellent bond with her team and the residents. Andrea has an open door policy and welcomes in anyone who would like to meet with her.


One of the fond memories is meeting the Duke of Gloucester which was an amazing day and the residents and families loved it!


Andrea loves meeting new people and enjoys the fact that she is helping and supporting others.


Andrea has lots of hobbies, enjoys being a mother, keeping fit and being very sociable.


Claire

Claire Ashmore

Job Title: Care Leader

Joined: 1992

Claire started working for OSJCT in August 1992, firstly working as a kitchen assistant but after a few months she decided she would like to work as a Carer. Claire started in care as a relief carer and after a few years she
progressed to Care Leader and achieved her Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care to become a Care Leader.


Claire knows that some days can be challenging, rewarding and never the same but that is what she loves about her job, no two days are the same. For Claire, it feels great when you can overcome a challenge and you can make a difference in your resident's life. She find's it very interesting talking to the residents and listening to their life stories and what they have achieved in their lives.


Over the years Claire has had a lot of fun doing many fund raising and sponsored activities for Beckside from a tandem skydive, sponsored walks and dressing up in a variety of costumes to entertain the residents with shows organised at the home !


When she is not working Claire loves to travel abroad and experience the different cultures and foods of the countries she is visiting. Claire also likes to relax doing jigsaw puzzles or reading a good book.


Lindsay

Lindsay Pybus

Job Title: Activities Co-Ordinator

Lindsay started at Beckside as a Carer, most of the staff and residents have nicknamed her ‘Lindsay Lips’ because of the bright red lipstick she wears.


Lindsay is a vibrant bubbly member of the Beckside family and when the opportunity arose for Lindsay to assist within the Activities Co-ordinator’s role, this seemed like the ideal opportunity for Lindsay who has a great rapport with our residents. She loves to sing around the home, which brings a smile to everyone’s face. Lindsay has great ideas for different activities, from a sports day between residents and staff, a social club within the home to arts and crafts, games and many more. Lindsay encourages all residents to participate in the activities but is also considerate and mindful if they decline.


Lindsay is married with 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Lindsay spends a lot of her time with family but also enjoys walking her two beloved dogs


Sue

Sue Gill

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2011

Sue is the Head Housekeeper at Beckside and has worked in the care industry for seven years , five of which have been at Beckside where she achieved her NVQ 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.


Sue's day is varied and she works hard with her team to ensure that the day to day running and cleaning of the home is adhered too, the most exciting part for her is when visitors say positive things about the home.


After many years of working as a Sales Manager both in fitness and footwear, Sue decided she wanted to take on another challenge so trained and went to study as a Therapeutic Counsellor where she gained her Diploma, along side other qualifications linked with counselling.


Sue also has qualifications including the Care Activities Organiser Certificate and a Level 3 in an End of Life Course.


When Sue is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, eating out and playing with her four grandchildren.


A little unknown fact about Sue is that she used to be an ear model!


Brigette

Brigette Barraclough

Job Title: Activities Co-Ordinator

Joined: 2017

Brigette enjoys the caring aspect of her role and applied for a job at Boultham Park House first as a carer, after caring for a family member for 20 years until they passed. In 2016, while there she also assisted the Activities Co-ordinator at the home. In 2017 Brigette started at Beckside in her role as Activities Co-ordinator.
Brigette enjoys interacting with the residents, and reads the news headlines once a week, which the residents love, she organises lots of entertainment, from singers, boat trips to birds of prey! Brigette also likes to spend one to one time with the residents who cannot participate in the group activities.


Brigette is married and loves to take her dog for walks and likes her holidays abroad.
