My 90-year-old dad transferred to The Georgians after being extremely poorly at a hospice. All members of staff were very welcoming and appreciated Dad’s needs (even down to fizzy pop!), he made friends among the residents during the month he was there and appreciated the various activities provided
by the staff on a daily basis. When he became poorly again he was closely monitored. With the support of caring staff, he is now managing to walk a little with his frame. He has only moved care homes to be with his wife in a different care home. As a family, we can highly recommend The Georgians.

My mother was transferred to The Georgians from Residential care 4 years ago. Her vascular dementia was becoming increasingly difficult to manage. She settled in very quickly. It became very apparent to me how much time the staff spent getting to know her. They understood her and treated her with respect
and dignity. When Covid hit us all I was concerned about how my mum would react to lack of contact with me. I needn't have worried as when I could visit it was plain to see she was being well cared for.

Sadly her slow decline deeper into dementia made her very aggressive and difficult to manage. I found this very distressing to witness. The staff were amazing throughout this time. She had the best care you could wish for and whenever I visited found her beautifully clean and comfortable. This was not easy as she constantly rejected care and was quite aggressive towards the staff. She died peacefully on 27th September. I was with her at the end but she was not alone before I arrived.

I can't speak highly enough of the care my father received over the last 2 years. He was always treated with respect and his wishes were always taken into consideration. The staff always pay special attention and celebrate special occasions for the residents and provide a wide range of activities. As
relatives we were always kept informed and consulted as necessary. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this care home.

My brother is currently a resident at The Georgians and has been there for 4 weeks. I cannot fault the care he is given. All staff are really lovely and the manager is very professional and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble for the team to solve. The nursing care is excellent and the nurses
and carers really good. There are always plenty of staff on duty and call bells are answered quickly. The food is all home-cooked and lovely, it's a homely, clean environment with lots of laughter and great activities. He is taken out locally for a coffee if he wants to as it's really close to the home and there is a lovely courtyard garden. Visiting times are really flexible, we can visit whenever we are able to. We were really concerned about making the right decision about where my brother lives and we feel we have done so. Highly recommend.

I was a resident in this care home the carers and nurses did not see any senior nurses. The maintenance men were fabulous the nurses were fabulous, especially one nurses, she has time for all residents. The food was ok. The Chef and the other chefs were fabulous, and the assistant in the kitchen, but
the saying a bad workman blames tools, not, in this case, the food mainly came out of a tin. I bought a lot of my own, the carers I gave respect to them they worked very hard for all the residents. The cleaners were lovely caring ladies. The only one who I did not get on with was the Manager. I think the way she runs the home she should work in a prison as a governor or a parole officer she was hard and mean if she cannot get her own way she will spit her dummy out because she couldn't get her own way and she gave me 28 days notice. I was there a little longer but I was happy to get out from her but now I know that they cannot riffle through your belongings. My daughters who are nurses said it is wrong for my things to be locked up.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.833)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.833) out of 10 for The Georgians is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for The Georgians is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Georgians is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
