When Mum first came to Oakdene, she was extremely frail and frightened, and detailed as 'end of life care'. The transformation in Mum since her arrival, just over three months ago, has been astonishing. At Oakdene Mum has found a new lease of life. The staff at Oakdene are all extremely friendly, helpful,
and are clearly committed to creating and maintaining a safe, caring, and stimulating environment. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone takes the time to get to know the residents as individuals. When I've sat chatting with a number of the residents, they have each told me that they are very happy at Oakdene and never feel lonely. As the daughter of a resident, I feel very welcome and that I can talk with the carers and management alike about Mum's progress or any care needs that she may have. Community seems to be important in Oakdene and family members are encouraged and welcome to come along to enjoy the various entertainers and seasonal events.

The improvement in my mother since her arrival from hospital is amazing. She was detailed as "end of life care" last June and has improved so much. She is happy and well cared for by all of the staff. The staff are friendly and helpful whenever I visit Oakdene. The home is very well run and management
are always available to chat about my mother's care needs.

My partner had been nursed for eight weeks in bed while in hospital after having a stroke. I was unhappy with the care he was receiving, so I had him transfer to Oakdene Care Home for two weeks only. While there, he has received excellent care, privacy and dignity upheld, and the change in him has been
remarkable. I cannot thank the management and staff enough for all they have done for him and myself.

My mother was admitted for respite care following a fall and hospital visit. She was made to feel welcome as soon as she went into the home. The pre-visit was helpful and informative and we appreciate the help in getting her from her home to the care home. She has settled well and is now much better
than she was. Although initially unsure, I believe she has welcomed the respite. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

My mum came into the care of Oakdene Care Home in September 23; she never wanted to go into a home, but after a spell in the hospital, we had no choice. From the moment we came through the door, I felt at home from home for my mum. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for us. The home is cosy
and clean, and the facilities are second to none. The food looks amazing, and what my mum eats, she really enjoys. Mum has settled in very well and is happy. There is always a member of staff popping their head in to see if all is okay. On pressing for assistance, my mum always receives prompt care or help she needs. I feel very lucky that I have found a special place for my most special mum, where all the staff are so wonderful and attentive.

My mother has been in Oakdene Care Home for nearly twelve months. She has settled well because of the kindness, care and patience provided by all the staff. There is always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere which she and visiting family appreciate. The management is always accessible to address any
concerns we may have and nothing is too much trouble. I am happy and assured that she is safe and well cared for.

I can't thank the staff, manager and owner enough for the care they have given my mother - she came into their care on respite. Nothing has been too much trouble. Always a warm welcome and friendly face. She's been so happy with them, doing activities every day and giving her the reassurance that she's
needed. She's going to come home in a week, but if ever I need to call on their services again, I wouldn't hesitate, ten out of ten.

Just needed to comment on this care Home. Thank you so much, you were so caring, all staff concerned were more than helpful, nothing too much trouble, made my mother in law so comfortable and felt safe and warm in her last few weeks. The care homely, always when I visited and that was every day for
three weeks at different times, was clean, and felt very family based, activities for residents were great, everyone made very welcome. Thank you so much for all you did for our mum in her few weeks with you.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.355)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.355) out of 10 for Oakdene Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.655 for Oakdene Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.655

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakdene Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
