At Berry Hill Park, the care team go above and beyond to make sure the home is a happy place to live for every resident. Led by a kind and experienced home manager, respect, dignity and empowerment underpins everything they do.

By getting to know each individual, the team encourage every resident to take an active part in life at the home, and there genuinely is something to suit each person's interests. From the moment of my partner's admission to Berry Hill Park have witnessed care, compassion and dedication from all staff to residents and visitors alike. The friendliness is spread throughout the building and I cannot praise them enough.

Mum was so happy at Berry Hill and loved everyone she says it is the best home she has been to.
Very friendly and caring and looked after all her needs. Being 102 in July 2018, I was the one worried for her but I can surely say I had no need to be as I'd never left mum before.

Mum only spent three weeks here but she described it as a "5-star hotel."


All the staff treated mum with kindness and consideration.


The nursing care was excellent and available on demand.


Our family were able to visit at any time which was much appreciated.

My 94 year old Mother has been resident for over 3 years and has, since June 2017, deteriorated in health, markedly having developed a rare auto-immune disorder. Personally, I have found it difficult say the least witnessing her decline and take each day on at a time. Reassuringly, the staff at the
home have, thankfully, been well and truly on the ball, detecting any nuances in her condition that have been taking place. Their support of Mum has been, when she needed it, very moving indeed and overall she could not be in better hands. I thank God each and every day that Mum is more than happy and content with the care she has been receiving at, what has become a very difficult time for her.

A spacious welcoming home in which most of the residents seemed content at meal times in the large airy dining room.
Occasional nighttime interruptions by night staff to see all was well.
I was allocated a "showroom" which I had admired on an earlier visit but I had to request a mattress for the bed
on the first evening and a TV replacement for one not working to the arrival.
Only 1 tap gave water over the hand basin - running cold and then too hot to use until much later - no plug.
Meal-times were approximate for service in the dining room but trolleys with tea/coffee/sandwiches/cakes/biscuits come to you are rooms, food very good.

I took a lot of time looking for the right place. There was an open door policy on the viewing - 'Come any time' - which showed confidence and no subterfuge. As soon as I walked in I could see the difference. The staff and residents spoke to me. The place was clean and warm and friendly. Mum was given
a corner room with en-suite. In the latter stages of dementia, she quickly settled. Wonderful food and great staff. If Mum feels like dancing, as she does most times, the staff join her. The 2-minute walk from the dining room to her room takes Mum 20 as she stops and gives every staff member a hug and a kiss. The great thing is that they return it. I could not be more relieved. I am confident it was a great fit for Mum. Everyone is so welcoming and they keep a watchful eye on all the residents. I am certain if there was a problem, and I haven't found one yet, I could raise it and it would be addressed immediately. The management and staff work hard and it shows. So great.

My father was admitted to Berry Hill Park Care Home after another spell at the hospital following a fall and night on the floor at his home. My father was not expected to live for more than a few days but because of the good, care and kindness shown to him by the staff here, he made an incredible recovery
and remains alive today. He may yet reach his 100th birthday. Thank you.

The team at Berry Hill were very efficient. It took no more than 48 hrs from enquiring, to assessing, to transporting mum into the care home. The change within 48 hrs of mum going in were noticeable. She went from sleeping all the time to eating 3 meals a day and having a conversation with you. My mum
was only there for 23 days and sadly passed away there. The nursing staff, carers, cleaners and cook went above and beyond their duties. They all helped to make mum's final days happy and comfortable. It was like being surrounded by extended family. Home from home. They respected your privacy as well as knowing when you needed their support.

There are many kind carers ar Berry Hill. One displayed particular kindness (as she always does) when she accompanied my mum in an ambulance to hospital. She reassured her and mopped her up.
When I arrived at the hospital, my mum was relaxed and reassured, despite feeling ill, evidenced by the beaming
smile she gave to the carer.
Mum has dementia so becomes disorientated in strange situations. This carer was her anchor to her normal life. Thank you for being there and for caring so much.

Happy with the care mam's getting, just kitchen coffee shop water mostly cold, milk not always there, spoons missing!

The hot water is replenished throughout the day but alternative equipment is being sourced to provide hot water continuously. Milk and teaspoons will be checked at intervals during the day so that the café area can be enjoyed by everyone.

I asked to go to Chatsworth House and the home made it possible and took me out on a trip in the mini bus. It was really lovely to go. I even had my photo taken.

My mother was a resident at Berry Hill for 5 1/2 years. She had complex care needs and built excellent relationships with the friendly, caring staff. Due to my mother's illnesses, communication was difficult but staff were able to understand her needs and developed regular chatting sessions. My mother
spent the last few years in bed but never suffered any bed sores and received an excellent level of care and support from the home. She will be missed.

Staff are generally professional, kind and helpful. Ther are a few exceptions, it would be helpful if baths/showers were booked into the diary on a regular basis, instead of having to ask every few days and this request being delayed because of 'emergencies'. Early days, so hoping minor problems can
be sorted. In general, the home is satisfactory to good. Food is excellent, especially as the cook is devoted to her job. Some maintenance issues that could be easily resolved.

We would like to thank you for raising your concerns. Our Staff aim to be professional at all times. Baths and showers are scheduled and planned to meet resident’s needs and wishes. Occasionally a bath or shower may have to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances but this is not a regular occurrence. The home has a very experienced maintenance operative and maintenance issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently once they are brought to his attention.

My wife has been in Berry Hill for a number of months and has picked up ten fold. I have my meals brought to me so I can eat with my wife and all the staff are caring and care is given to my wife with respect. I am not a well gentleman myself and the staff look after me too. They say hello and goodnight
when I leave. Lovely manager too, all the staff are angels.

I love going out on the activities. I went to Mansfield Library to see Singing In the Rain. It was really good and we enjoyed it. I always love going on the trips because it is nice to go out and it is always fun to be with the staff because they are really friendly and fun.

I really enjoy the home and all the staff are lovely and nice to me. I like to go out on trips to the garden centre to buy flowers and Christmas presents. The manager comes to see me during the week to see how I am and I enjoy my meals and my room is big and lovely.

Home Manager at Berry Hill Park care home, Mansfield


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care to me means going above and beyond to deliver person-centred care and treating our residents with love, dignity and respect. It’s sometimes the little things we do that demonstrate kind care.”


As a Registered Nurse, Tara has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents:


“I am passionate about elderly care and feel privileged to be a part of someone's life, to make a difference, and to drive high standards of care.”


Having joined HC-One in June 2024, Tara closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Tara remarked:


“My favourite thing about being a Home Manager is getting to build relationships with residents and families and supporting my team to be the best they can be.”


Tara’s name badge says, ‘I am a proud mummy’, which she says is because:


“I am very proud of all of my children; they are something that is very important to me. My biggest achievement has been raising my family, they make me happy every single day of my life.”


Outside of work, Tara enjoys spending time with her family and visiting her parents, who have recently moved to Cornwall.
