My Mum was brought to Blyth Country House Care Home approximately 1 1/2 weeks ago and has received wonderful care form all the staff during that time. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers/nurses/admin staff. From regular cups of tea to friendly chats and nursing care. Mum will be 94 on the 1st
January 2020 and I feel relieved to know she is in very good hands now.

Mum was relocated here after her previous home stopped providing nursing care. The team were fantastic, supporting us through the transition. Mum is well settled and so much brighter. It's fabulous to see her so animated and trying to communicate. Everyone here is so friendly, considerate and caring.
They spend time with mum which is great.

I didn't want my father in a care home but his needs were great and he needed to be somewhere that had 24 hour care - nursing care. Having looked at a few, Blyth Country House Care Home came out on top, with its countryside location, friendly and attentive staff, homecooked food and cleanliness. My
father liked to watch the farm machinery come and go from his window and liked the company of the friendly staff. He always said, "nothing was too much trouble".

Entering a family member in this case my father is never easy. I have always been able to care for first mother, my uncle and lastly my father. Unfortunately, my father's health is more complex and challenging. The first few days were difficult for dad to accept but the staff when dealing with any care
or distress dad showed great compassion. After nearly three weeks dad seems to have settled in very well and receives excellent care!

Dad was not in the best of health when he arrived at Blyth Country House but the care team have been very understanding and have encouraged him to move about and eat meals and he has gained weight. Before he came to Blyth he was bedridden and he now goes out daily in the wheelchair to experience the
country environment which he is used to living around at home.

Very happy with all care.
The first time away from home, he was sat 22 hours on his own but now I know he is safe, especially at night and is being fed. I wasn't sure his carers at his home were feeding him or arriving when they should have.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.333)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.333) out of 10 for Blyth Country House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.000 for Blyth Country House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blyth Country House Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
