Whilst visiting a family friend, the reception staff were very welcoming and the activities coordinator was very friendly. I noticed the staff were very attentive and caring and whilst I was sitting, I had a look through some photographs of the residents taking part in activities and I am amazed at
how much is on offer. It is very comforting to know that such an effort is being made. Thank you.

Would not recommend this home, Mamma was in for 9 months and we had several complaints that either weren't taken seriously or weren't dealt with properly. Found the home to be dirty and the staff and management to be rude.

The improvements that have been made to there service is excellent. People are well cared for, staff super friendly and manager works hard all the time, even covering weekends.
She is amazing and dedicated to the residents and staff team.
It is sad when I see poor reviews from people that are malicious
as this service is outstanding. Well done to all of you. You make a real difference to people's lives.

I have been visiting Lowmoor Nursing Home on a weekly basis for the last 2 years and find the home clean, homely and the staff very caring and friendly. The manager seems friendly and is always willing to talk through any problems concerning my brother-in-law. There is always some sort of activity going
on, birthday party, afternoon tea, pancake day, Halloween etc. Anything to celebrate and they will do it. The residents love to join in the celebrations and those who are able, have a little dance. They even bring a singer in to entertain them. In my opinion, Lowmoor is a nice friendly home and I feel the residents are well cared for.

This care home is a lovely home through and through. Always made to feel welcome upon entering. It is always clean and my relative always looked presentable. The staff are a lovely bunch and are always there with anything you need. Not only do they care about the residents but also the family members.
The manager's door is always open to answer any questions given to her.

After my aunt being moved from three previous care homes and then to two different hospitals, we were determined to find the right home for her. After recommendations from both staff and a resident's wife, we visited Lowmoor. We were instantly impressed with both the management and the care team. We
knew straight away this was going to be the right place. The facilities were very impressive, there's even a bar, shop and potting shed. The residents all looked clean, tidy and well looked after. My auntie arrived via patient transport and by the time we arrived (within a couple of hours) she'd been given a bath, had a meal and shown around the whole home. Her room was newly decorated with brand new curtains, bedding and a basket full of treats and toiletries. She was made very welcome. She has now been there over 5 months and I cannot say a bad word against the place. She is very challenging at times but the staff are very supportive and treat her with dignity and manage her very well.

This care home has undergone lots of changes since my father moved in.
Whilst it suffered from poor management in the recent past, the current regime and staff appear to have improved it greatly, both in appearance and quality of care.
Hopefully, this will continue and improve further.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.247)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.247) out of 10 for Lowmoor Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.409 for Lowmoor Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 115 Ratings = 4.409

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.838 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lowmoor Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.938

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
