Meadowcroft is a specialist care home in Sutton-in-Ashfield which supports people living with complex mental health needs, who may also display behaviours of concern.

Meadowcroft has a Nurse-led team that cares for some of the most complex and acute individuals, who would often be in a hospital setting if not placed in the home, enabling them to stay in the community and reducing hospital and secure facility admission.

The specialist nursing home provides person-centred care and rehabilitation which focuses on building everyday living skills, maximising independence and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

Meadowcroft has an in-house team of Registered Nurses, trained Health Care Assistants and Life Skills Facilitators who take a collaborative approach to encourage self-development, self-confidence and improved emotional wellbeing, to support people on their pathway to rehabilitation and recovery.

The home has a strong focus on supporting and empowering people to build essential community links and strategies that support re-integration into the wider community.

Colleagues complete Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support (EPBS) training that’s been certificated by Bild ACT, and are supported by a central team of Behaviour Support Specialists, which enables them to support people that have been deemed to have behaviours that are considered ‘too complex’ for mainstream nursing and care services.

Meadowcroft has 20 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across two units. The home also has communal dining and living spaces, as well as an activities hub, sensory room and large accessible garden.

The home also has an OneCare service which includes two dual occupancy houses, one male-only and one female-only, over the road from the main care home. It’s ideal for adults living with complex needs, and whose needs require that they live alone or in a low stimulus environment.

Exceptional care and wonderful staff. Recent illness for my relative meant that the staff and management were there for them 24 hours and we cannot thank them enough. Positive, calm and caring. Amazing!

When my friend first came in he was in a bad way. Your staff have done a fantastic job at getting him mobile, a little more self-sufficient and so much happier. This doesn't happen unless you have a fantastic team and it shows. I was worried about him initially but the staff here has given me no doubts
whatsoever that he is in the right place. During my first visits, my friend couldn't stand on his own, couldn't hold a conversation and was a shell of his former self, now I can see a glimmer of the person he used to be return.

Things need getting on top of from time to time, but the manager and staff are all willing to help to put things right. Most of the time I can sleep contented knowing my brother is getting well looked after.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.325) out of 10 for Meadowcroft is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.783 for Meadowcroft is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.783

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.542 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowcroft is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
