Church Farm at Rusticus is the newest member of the highly respected Church Farm Care Group of nursing homes, a small family-run business.

Situated in beautiful woodlands just outside Cotgrave village. Like all homes in the Church Farm Care Group, Rusticus follows the principles that the person living at the home always comes first, ensuring well-being and happiness is a priority.

All staff are highly trained and the specialist nurses provide 24-hour care.

Church Farm at Rusticus provides residential care, nursing care, dementia care, respite care, and rehabilitation to help those who have been living in hospital adapt to living back at home, helping people to gain confidence and independence.

Church Farm at Rusticus now has its own cinema, café and hairdressers and Hickling Lodge the newest addition to Rusticus.

Bright and spacious, the 30 new bedrooms of Hickling Lodge all have light and airy ensuite bedrooms with access to private gardens off each bedroom. Finished to the highest specification and individually designed in a Modern British colourful style.

Each room is generously sized with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding bird-filled woodland gardens, and aviary and every bedroom has their own private patio garden or balcony too.

Every room has a high specification electric controlled wooden nursing profile bed, a fantastic piece of equipment which is designed for comfort and they’re designed to reduce the amount of pressure on the body, helping to reduce and prevent everyday aches and pains.

Bathrooms are very spacious and all have walk-in shower wet rooms. The spa baths are also available, there are assisted sitting and reclining baths in each house, for an accessible and relaxing bathing experience.

It took a couple of days to settle in, but I soon got used to everything. Most of the servicer users were great company. I made a lot of friends and had loads of laughs. Best wishes to all.

The staff are very caring and happy to help in any way you might need them.
The complex and bedrooms are immaculate, clean and tidy, and plenty of room.
The manager gave us full attention and explained their programme with my sister.

The care my father received from certain carers was great but overall the experience has not been anywhere near what anyone would expect. Communication is poor and the turnover of staff is unbelievable. If you want continuation in a loved one's care with dementia then unfortunately this is not the
place. Feel bad having to say this because certain carers are excellent but cannot be named. Thanks to those to whom I’m talking about.

Having had in the past two operations for replacement knees, the treatment for the hip repair was out of this world. With help of staff and physios, recovery was quicker than I expected.

Awful experience. The first night I got a call at 2.45 am from an out-of-hours doctor who couldn't get in contact with the home but also couldn't tell me why he was needed. We tried the whole night to get through and finally, someone rang at 7 am to let me know my Grandad had fallen within hours of
being there. I was told he had cut his head but was OK because he had been put to bed and gone to sleep. Now I'm not medically trained but even I wouldn't let someone with a head injury sleep. We went to visit the next day and my Grandad begged us to bring him home as he hated it there. Also while visiting we saw a few issues/problems happen and we're less than impressed at the staff's handling of it. There was only one lady who seemed to be doing anything while three others just stood about not looking like they knew what to do. Today we've had a call, my Grandad has fallen again and he has only been there a few days and the same as before, I've tried for hours to get through to them to check on him, and no one answered.

We care deeply about our residents and their safety, we can assure you that appropriate care was given to your family member by a trained nurse following their falls. We acknowledge and accept there were some issues adjusting to a new telephone system which had only been in place one week. Following training with the team we hope this has now been resolved. Once again we are deeply sorry that our communications fell short of both yours and our standards.

My husband was a resident in Church Farm at Risticus and my family and I felt that he was treated well, although we could only manage to visit two-three times a week. (He was in Rusticus from June 15th - August 3rd).
Our only problem was gaining entry at weekends and later in the day but we understand
that shortage of staff was the problem.
I believe that my husband thanked the staff for his care before he died.

My husband has been at Church Farm since 24th March 2021. At first, I felt he was, quite naturally, unsettled, but over the weeks he has become calmer and more settled. The staff have been very kind and caring towards my husband, and indeed to me, and he seems to respond very well to them. I visit a
couple of times a week and he is always "clean and tidy"! It was his birthday recently and I was able to spend a bit more time with him for cake and cards and presents etc. which was great. All in all, I think everything is going extremely well.
The only "non-excellent" comment I would make is that sometimes there appears to be clothing in his wardrobe and drawers which are not his. I understand that sorting the laundry and distributing it must be a mammoth task, and I do hope you don't mind my mentioning this. As my husband was in the RAF his clothes, wardrobe and drawers at home were always immaculate...it just made me think of this...sorry.

My husband’s illness is such that living at home is not an option. Fortunately, Church Farm is providing all the care and compassion my husband needs. He is kept spotlessly clean and very well fed. Staff appear well trained to deal gently and calmly with his often challenging behaviour. I am kept well
informed of any incidents that occur as a result of my husband’s illness and am supported in a professional and consoling manner. I have nothing but praise for Church Farm at Rusticus.

I can honestly say I was nervous with Mum going into care, the staff have been excellent in my mum's transition. It has been difficult with her becoming a resident during the pandemic but I have been well informed and am happy that her needs are met. I am contacted with concerns and staff discuss issues
such as diet or if Mum is unwell I have always been contacted.
It is difficult to answer the questions on food and drink and activities, but from visiting I am informed on the above and the extras like afternoon tea, birthday celebrations and Queens birthday etc. that enable me to mark it as excellent. Whilst visiting I can smell the meals cooking and it always smells great.
Mum is always saying she loves the carers which gives me confidence she is in the best place, a loving home.
There is building work at the moment for a new unit and social hub which is exciting, there will be more for the residents which include a hairdressers, cafe and cinema.

Staff at Church Farm at Rusticus are very helpful and caring, not just for the service user but myself too, very friendly staff always with a smile on their faces.
Good communication and all questions answered or staff have asked seniors for more information.
Even better when we asked if my wife was
able to see our dog and we were able to bring her in, now the staff want her as a mascot as they love our dog.

Mum has been at Church Farm at Rusticus for almost a year, having moved from another home. She often seemed agitated and unsettled at the previous home but we put that down to the dementia. Although Mum has moved during Covid and we’ve not been able to have normal visits, we can see that she is far
more settled and substantially less agitated. The environment is lovely, very clean and calm with friendly, helpful staff who do seem to genuinely care for their residents. What struck me most on my first visit into the home was there was no ‘institution smell’ that you often get in schools, hospitals or care homes. Communication is really good, emails advising of services, changes and updates. Calls to advise of incidents, changes in medication and reviews that may have happened - you never feel out of touch which is especially important for me as I live 60 miles away and only get in to see Mum every few weeks.

The whole team at Church Farm at Rusticus provide wonderful and nurturing care for Mum. Mum has very advanced dementia and was moved to Rusticus in December 2020 after her last care home were unable to continue to manage her challenging behaviours. Church Farm at Rusticus are just amazing with her and
Mum settled very quickly. I love following the active social media pages where I get a glimpse of the fun and varied activities that are available within the home. I can not recommend Rusticus highly enough.

My mother had a 5 week stay at Church Farm. This was during lockdown so a particularly difficult time for everyone. The staff were fantastic and their care and kindness to Mum was second to none. They sent me photos of Mum and regularly read her letters the family had emailed. I was given daily reports
on her progress and nothing was too much trouble.

Although the location was difficult for me to access as a non-driver, I quickly became impressed with the staff, facilities and care provided at Rusticus. My husband's stay occurred at a very difficult time and I was extremely upset on my last visit before the home was closed to visitors. After the
separation the staff were very supportive and several carers developed a close relationship with my husband and showed great interest in his life and needs.

Diane Watson

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2023

We are delighted to welcome Diane Watson as our new Home Manager here at Rusticus. She is highly qualified - a trained nurse who also has a clinical training qualification, and brings with her a wealth of clinical and managerial experience having experience in working across both the NHS and private sector. Diane comes to Rusticus having managed a small group of homes as Senior Manager, and has already made a great impact at Rusticus. She is very visible and available around the home every day. "I feel I have been very privileged in my career to have met, worked with and cared for so many patients, residents and team members." she adds "Rusticus has such a lovely reputation and is set in stunning grounds with incredible buildings and facilities, I was drawn to Church Farm Care's values that people matter, and the importance they place on people's wellbeing, for both family members and staff."


Outside of work, Diane loves to spend time reading, walking, cycling, swimming, socialising and cooking.
