Church Farm at Rusticus is the newest member of the highly respected Church Farm Care Group of nursing homes, a small family-run business.

Situated in beautiful woodlands just outside Cotgrave village. Like all homes in the Church Farm Care Group, Rusticus follows the principles that the person living at the home always comes first, ensuring well-being and happiness is a priority.

All staff are highly trained and the specialist nurses provide 24-hour care.

Church Farm at Rusticus provides residential care, nursing care, dementia care, respite care, and rehabilitation to help those who have been living in hospital adapt to living back at home, helping people to gain confidence and independence.

Church Farm at Rusticus now has its own cinema, café and hairdressers and Hickling Lodge the newest addition to Rusticus.

Bright and spacious, the 30 new bedrooms of Hickling Lodge all have light and airy ensuite bedrooms with access to private gardens off each bedroom. Finished to the highest specification and individually designed in a Modern British colourful style.

Each room is generously sized with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding bird-filled woodland gardens, and aviary and every bedroom has their own private patio garden or balcony too.

Every room has a high specification electric controlled wooden nursing profile bed, a fantastic piece of equipment which is designed for comfort and they’re designed to reduce the amount of pressure on the body, helping to reduce and prevent everyday aches and pains.

Bathrooms are very spacious and all have walk-in shower wet rooms. The spa baths are also available, there are assisted sitting and reclining baths in each house, for an accessible and relaxing bathing experience.

I am so impressed with all the staff supporting my mum at this difficult time. They couldn't be more caring and supportive. All the right measures have been put in place to keep people safe, and we have been kept informed. We are actively encouraged to ring/video call, and you feel as though nothing
is too much trouble.

My Mum has been a resident for several years. She is well and happy and the staff are thoughtful, caring and kind. I normally visit several times a week and I'm always welcomed into the home in a friendly and professional way. On the odd occasion, we have problems with anything, we have always been
able to resolve the problem in discussion with the staff at the home.
I'm writing this review during the coronavirus lockdown so we haven't been able to see Mum face to face for several weeks, but during that time, the staff at the home have helped us to keep in touch with her by facilitating video call sessions so we can see and talk to her, and also by reading letters that the family have sent to her. This contact has meant so much to us and to her.

My father was transferred to Church Farm at Rusticus from hospital to an assessment bed. As a family we were concerned what it would be like and how would dad settle. Our concern went straight away as the staff were so respectful and very caring to dad and ourselves, we felt that dad was safe and would
be looked after and we wouldn’t need to worry about him. We would recommend this 100%, all staff were very attentive, lovely homemade food, spotlessly clean and always listened to the patient and family. Nothing at all was too much trouble, dad couldn’t have gone anywhere better.
We wish to say a very big thank you to all staff for how you cared for our dad. Thank You.

If you had a million pounds to spend you would not get better care than on offer at Church Farm at Rusticus. The standards were incredibly high. My mother found happiness at Church Farm. With my own eyes, I have seen the kindest, sweetest people give choices, care and liberation to the residents.
The place is warm and homely, the staff are completely focused on the residents and I have never seen such calm and dedicated, hard-working people in all of my life. The food is good and the staff got to know my mother and her likes and dislikes very quickly. There was such dignity and respect every minute all day and all night. I hope all the people who need it find a place like Church Farm.

My wife died on 15th July 2019 at Rusticus. She was diagnosed with mixed vascular dementia in early January this year. From day one, my wife was treated with such love and tenderness I could not believe it. But after visiting my wife almost every day (baring sickness) for six months, that care never
wavered, always looking out for my wife's best interests and comfort.
I myself was treated as part of THEIR family and at the end with the very same dignity.
The rules in this home are woven around the patients love and care and NOT to suit ANYBODY ELSE. This home is now part of me (and my wife) and I will be seeing (visiting) them again.
As a mark of love and respect, some of the staff, including the manageress, were at my wife's funeral.

As the home is under improvement it has come on leaps and bounds. My Mam is very happy here and is cared for very well by all the staff. The new Manager, you couldn't ask for anyone any better. She is caring, someone you can approach with ease. Anything you need for your relative she sees to it straight

My husband arrived at your care home on 19/10/18 and left on 21/12/18.
In this time he was well looked after by carers, nurses.
He was given a lot of support and help with his Dementia and Parkinsons.
The team did have to shower, dress, undress and watch his movements all day, however, he did have
three falls in this time.

During the last 5 years, my husband has had one week's residential care in five different care homes in Nottingham whilst I had one week's respite awarded to me by social services.
Church Farm Rusticus surpasses all of these in every aspect.
The care and respect given to all of the residents is second
to none.
My husband is now a permanent resident and his whole demeanour has changed for the better.
He is now stabilised, settled and calm - thanks to all the staff.

Church Farm at Rusticus is undergoing major refurbishment at the moment and whilst the beautiful décor is lovely the most important thing in a care home is the staff.
The permanent members of staff here are all cheerful, kind and caring with the residents (I do not comment on agency staff).
The home
is clean (no smell of urine!) and at Christmas is a delight with all the lights and Christmas trees.
The food is acceptable considering the many dietary problems the cooks have to cope with.
I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

My Aunt has been a resident of this Care Home for several years now. We as a family have always had the highest praise for the Staff at this home, though the surroundings have been somewhat neglected in recent years, I guess due to the lack of funds?


Since the home has been taken over and is now

part of the Church Farm Group, the standards have been raised regarding areas that were always slightly lacking. The residents' rooms are kept clean and fresh, the decor is bright and welcoming, communication with family has improved and the numbers of staff seem to have increased.


The first stage of renovation is near completion, and my Mother and I were lucky enough to be given an informal tour of the new wing. WOW! It has the air of a luxury hotel. Spacious rooms with light pouring through the large windows which take advantage of the beautiful views.


I and my family would happily recommend this Care Home ..... :)

Diane Watson

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2023

We are delighted to welcome Diane Watson as our new Home Manager here at Rusticus. She is highly qualified - a trained nurse who also has a clinical training qualification, and brings with her a wealth of clinical and managerial experience having experience in working across both the NHS and private sector. Diane comes to Rusticus having managed a small group of homes as Senior Manager, and has already made a great impact at Rusticus. She is very visible and available around the home every day. "I feel I have been very privileged in my career to have met, worked with and cared for so many patients, residents and team members." she adds "Rusticus has such a lovely reputation and is set in stunning grounds with incredible buildings and facilities, I was drawn to Church Farm Care's values that people matter, and the importance they place on people's wellbeing, for both family members and staff."


Outside of work, Diane loves to spend time reading, walking, cycling, swimming, socialising and cooking.
