Red Rose Care Community is a truly charming, home-from-home purpose-built Care Home located in Farndon, which is South-West of the historic market town of Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire. Red Rose employs a dedicated team who are experienced in many forms of provision, which include long-term residential care, short and long-term respite, dementia care and palliative care.

As part of the Red Homes family, Red Rose embodies its founders’ ethos of delivering exceptional, personalised, quality care to their residents and support to their families. The consistency of care is led by the manager Diane Watson, Deputy Karen Borland and the Heads of Department who all work closely with the local surgery, and community teams to provide this care and support.

Staff are well-qualified and experienced in the challenges of mental health, adhering to care packages that suit each individual user, with needs fully assessed prior to admission. The home offers inclusive, purposeful, and exciting lifestyle and activity choices including music, dancing, gardening and crafts. The activities co-ordinator creates a rich timetable for the week, whilst the cook prepares nutritious meals and snacks, tailored to individual residents' dietary requirements.

Mum went to Red Rose for the last 3 months of her life. She was looked after with care and kindness. We would highly recommend Red Rose and all their staff. The home is very clean, with lovely rooms and friendly staff. We were made very welcome when visiting mum and saw for ourselves the care that everyone
had for the residents. We as a family cannot thank all the staff at Red Rose enough.

My mum recently passed away but the care she received from all the staff at Red Rose Care Home in Farndon was truly amazing they work so hard to make sure all the residents and my mum are cared for with dignity and kindness the cleanliness of the home is marvellous I will be forever thankful for the
care she received.

Always greeted with a smile when we arrive, the staff are brilliant with my nana keeping her calm and supported with activities. The home is always clean. Love catching up with what they do with the monthly news letter and updates on Facebook.

My mum moved into the home on the dementia care part of the building at Farndon back in 2021. My mum has Alzheimer's disease and with her being a strong character, we thought the transition to residential care would be a struggle for her and the care team. She very quickly settled in, and found her
singing voice and her wicked sense of humour too.


She still resides there, she is settled and thinks of the staff as family.


I have to commend the staff and management. Everyone involved with the care of my mum, are switched on, engaged, empathetic and passionate. They truly care for her and are very supportive of the family.


The home is spotlessly clean, and the food is well balanced and cooked on site.


There is a laundry in situ ran by a team. Mum's clothes are clean and fresh and that gives incredible peace of mind.


Mum is in the best place possible and we are incredibly blessed to have this all on our doorstep.

My father has been on a respite break for five weeks. I have nothing but praise for every aspect of his care. From being admitted to the present day nothing has been too much trouble for the staff. He had a lovely welcome and settled quickly despite a hiccup with his health. He is well looked after
and supported, the nursing team are very kind and emphatic. He alongside the other residents are treated with respect and the care is person-centred. The home is very clean, the staff appear to be happy, work as a team and the management team are very proactive and responsive. The food is home-cooked and healthy, and all his laundry needs are met with the laundry in situ.
I am extremely grateful for all the support I have received at this emotional time. A million heartbeats of love to you all.

My mother moved into Red Rose Care Community in March last year. The care since this time has been thoughtful, professional, and very friendly towards her. This was during the difficult times of the Covid pandemic. I cannot thank them enough. Her recent fall and hospitalisation has proved difficult
for her but I am sure that on her return to the home she will make great strides again.

Staff are always welcoming and friendly and treat my mother with respect. The care she receives is excellent and many of the staff go the extra mile. I am happy that my mother is in such a good nursing home and that she is well cared for.

Once my father-in-law settled into Red Rose, he was treated by the teams of carers as a family member. His requirements and wishes were acted with kindness and professionalism, and the monitoring of his health was discretely accomplished. The building and surrounds are bright and clean, and whenever
it is possible, all residents are encouraged to use all facilities and interact, if they wish. There is never any pressure placed on the residents. Red Rose is like a quality hotel, food and accommodation, very good, with the addition of a superb team of carers.

Just a big thank you to all the staff at Red Rose Newark. My mum, aged 95 years, enjoyed a very healthy life with no major issues. Unfortunately, she had to go into a nursing home for the last two weeks of her life because of a stroke. I can honestly say all the staff we met were fantastic, caring,
friendly and helpful and in my opinion, we definitely chose the right home. I already have and will recommend Red Rose to anyone. Thank you.

An old gentleman of 91 years of age, who I have known for almost 50 years was admitted in August 2019, I have visited two or three times a week until the current worldwide Coronavirus epidemic. On each and every occasion, I have always found the staff most caring and very helpful, a first-class caring
service, what else could one wish for. Excellent in every respect.

My wife stayed in Red Rose Care Community for one week's respite care in early March 2020.
She received good care, care staff marvelous in a nice clean environment.

My mother has been at Red Rose since September. The staff are all lovely and really seem to care about her - nothing is too much trouble. She is well looked after and well-fed and joins in with all the activities each day. The home is comfortable and spotless with a lovely dining room. There is always

The home is still judged "inadequate" by the CQC. However over the last year, we have come a long way, no agency staff, the home is being refurbished and a complete overhaul of management has resulted in an "open door policy" where residents and relatives are being listened to. There are still some
issues causing concern but staff and management are working hard to address them. Overall the atmosphere in the home has completely changed for the better.

Joined: 2024

Joanne started at Red Roofs Care Home, Newark in 2011 as a carer. Since then, her dedication and passion have seen her continually take on more responsibility becoming Deputy Manager at Red Roofs in 2016 and she has now moved to become the Home Manager at Red Rose Care Community in Farndon.


With a passion for learning and helping people, Joanne is a calming influence and offers strong leadership to support both residents and staff in bringing the best out in our community. You will often find her talking to residents to find new ways to help with different activities, extra facilities or events. For Joanne, it is important that every person gets the very best care.
