Woodleigh Care Home offers both long and short term care services to residents in an environment which is friendly and homely.

Staff provide round the clock care to residents and always have a fully qualified nurse on duty as well as trained care assistants.

The home has both single and companion rooms on offer for residents, which have been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. Friends and family are welcome any time into the home and overnight accommodation can be provided for those on longer visits.

We found Woodleigh in our darkest hour, the manager saw beyond the complications and difficulties we faced and embraced us, not just my husband, all of us including the four legged members of my husband's life. Woodleigh is a place of great care, laughter, acceptance and love.
Those who staff this
home, make it just that....a home, they see beyond the condition and find the person.
Lead by kind and, I'm my opinion, inspirational management, the nursing proved up to date but with old values, keeping the resident in the centre of care, support staff work hard but never at the expense of the residents, so kind.
The food is lovely and never too much trouble, the laundry cared for the residents clothes carefully and the home is kept clean and fresh....then there is the star of Woodleigh..Oscar the cat who does his rounds bringing smiles to all.
Is Woodleigh perfect..thank goodness no!...homes are just that....a home.

Dad passed at Woodleigh on 10/10/24, 10 months after expected. Dad was fast-tracked by the NHS with mixed dementia and repeated aspirations and so we had to choose a final home for the most independent of men. For us Woodleigh was an obvious fit, an inspired choice. Dad quickly accepted Woodleigh as
his home and residents and staff as family and friends. My dad was a demanding man and knew a swear word or two, if he didn't get his way. At his best and worst, everyone was considerate and respectful of Dad, and even enjoyed banter with him. The wonderful chefs restored Dad's appetite and extended his life. And on the night he passed. He had a carer with him talking to him about things they'd previously discussed, when he could answer. It was touchingly beautiful to see the relationship staff built with Dad. The best decision for Dad was Woodleigh and I'm sure my dad would agree. We can't thank and appreciate all the staff enough for those extra months we had with Dad.

My mother was a long-term resident at Woodleigh, spanning over nine years by the time of her death. This included the very difficult period during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst she struggled to settle initially and took time to build new friendships, as soon as she knew which other residents and staff
she felt she could trust, then she became an active resident and made many friends. The staff treated her well, knew her needs and respected them. Sadly, time caught up with her eventually and she required increased levels of care. The staff treated her with dignity and were always available when family members needed them. The change of ownership latterly appeared to change the persona of the home, with a much more business-like approach adopted. Although I appreciate that this was also a more difficult time for the home financially, due to their increased costs, fees did latterly feel so much higher though.

Friendly and welcoming environment. My Dad has settled in very easily. All staff are friendly and approachable. Lots of activities and interaction with residents. Good responsive management.

Everyone is very welcoming and cannot do enough to make my visit comfortable and most of all they are looking after my husband 100%. Everywhere is clean and they always make me and my husband a drink.

I cannot thank the management and staff at Woodleigh Christian Care Home enough. My sister went in on palliative/end-of-life care and her needs are complex. They manage her needs excellently and the care and compassion they show are amazing. They're like a family and they make friends and family feel
a part of it too. Their door is always open to talk, help and support family too, nothing is too much trouble. Their care, friendliness, support, understanding and patience are second to none.
My sister is happier and more settled than she was in her own home and for us as her family gives us total peace of mind that she is safe and very well cared for. I was also amazed at the activities they do for the residents and everyone joins in, including celebrating birthdays, with beautiful birthday cakes and making it special for them. The food is amazing! I would not hesitate to recommend Woodleigh to anyone. I am eternally grateful for what they have done and continue to do every day.

My sister has very complex palliative care needs which the staff at Woodleigh manage brilliantly. To know that she is safe and well cared for is such a relief to our family. Visiting Woodleigh is always a nice experience as everyone is so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The staff always make
time if we need to talk and give us support if we need it. My sister is so much more settled and comfortable as she feels safer at Woodleigh than she did at home. Her appetite is much better as the food is good, especially the puddings! All in all it is an amazing home and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My mother was a resident at Woodleigh for just short of four years. In 2020 we were told by the hospital that she was approaching end of life. On the many occasions when she was really poorly, the love and care she received by all the staff at Woodleigh gave us as a family a lot more time with her!
Also I would like to say myself and my sister were always made very welcome at the home, we were always listened to on any issues of concern and any problem however small was addressed. On the day of my mother's passing, the staff were amazing which made it so much easier for us to deal with our grief. I take this last opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every member of staff.

My sister is undergoing End-Of-Life care and is physically very incapacitated. She has complex physical, mental and emotional needs. Prior to arrival at Woodleigh Care Home my sister and her immediate family had reached a crisis point due to the intensity of my sister's symptoms and the extreme difficulty
in providing 24-hour care. The family cares deeply for my sister and has been dedicated to her support but the situation was unrelenting and unmanageable. From the moment my sister arrived at Woodleigh both she and my family have been made hugely welcome. It has been obvious that the management and staff fully understand all aspects of my sister's needs and those of her family. She has received the highest standards of care medically, physically and emotionally. She has a quality of life much higher than she could experience outside the home. We are supremely grateful to everyone at Woodleigh for their wonderfully dedicated, human and skilful approach to looking after my sister.

My parent has been at Woodleigh for 3 years and despite regular contact with the home regarding issues things have really not improved overall or consistently. As relatives, we've received multiple distressed calls. My parent resorts to telephoning the home when the care bell is not answered. At times
that number is not answered. The fees at £1550 a week now, up 13% this year and up twice last year, for residential care, are astronomical. The facilities are not impressive and are not in good order. On a recent visit, the garden was a shambles - a shame as it could be a great asset but in 3 years I have never seen it being well used other than by staff who are usually smoking in a shelter there at some point in any visit I make with my parent to the garden. Last visit their shelter was the only spot where access was not hampered by neglected cut branches and windfall debris. I wheeled my parent onto the moss lawn and we looked wistfully around at the mess in the drifting cigarette smoke.

Since the home has been taken over by Welford Healthcare it has changed radically, and not for the better. Meals have become unreliable and sometimes inedible, and times varied not so convenient. More regulations being applied is not always necessary making life difficult for carers and residents. Christian
aspects of the home have been reduced to a very minor part of the package. Broken window latches mean a window can't be opened or closed properly and cause draughts. This hasn't been fixed for months. The beds are 'terribly' uncomfortable. There is often a long delay in responding to a patient bell.

We were apprehensive of our family member being admitted to a care home for assessment because he was always such an independent man. We could not have been happier with the way the manager and her team helped settle him in. They understood his challenging needs and settled him into the home amazingly
well.
The accommodation is clean, tidy and the staff are attentive. The food was amazing too. The team went out of their way to help our family member feel at home whilst he was there. We couldn't have wished for more.
We particularly liked the entertainment and social activities that are put on for the residents. There were always plenty of things happening to keep everyone occupied.
Being new to residential care, I would be more than happy to recommend Woodleigh Christian Care Home in the future.

I've been visiting my late partner's friend as she is at Woodleigh for some therapy after injuring herself. I was met at the door on my first visit by a lovely young carer who introduced herself, showed me to the day room and offered me drinks and snacks. When I went into the day room a lady was in
there making drinks and having a laugh with the other residents, she was helping with taking a man to the toilet and when they came back this lady was dancing with the man. I was astonished to discover she was the manager after she answered the phone and said she was the manager. She speaks to her staff in a pleasant way and it's clear she cares. I always imagined people in charge of such establishments were in an office all day, but not this one! The staff were lovely on each visit, the food at teatime looked delicious and I was offered a meal which was kind of them. The activity girls are fun and bouncy, the residents were smiling and laughing. Lovely home!

It was hard to accept that Grandpa needed full-time care, but we simply couldn't manage his needs at home. It wasn't fair on Grandpa. We were told by a local hospital that Grandpa was going to be sent to this care home in Mansfield; initially, we were annoyed as we live 20 miles away. I'm so glad that
Woodleigh accepted my grandpa because his life was enriched, he was loved and cared for, and we all felt at home. I'm so glad we got to spend the quality time that we did. It's an older home but has beautiful character. The staff are caring, and the management team go out of their way to make sure everything is right, not just for Grandpa but for us as a family. We were kept informed the whole time. Speaking to other people that live in the home, I can tell they are happy, and we could not have asked for better care. From the manager to the cleaning staff, everyone is lovely. The food is fresh and smells amazing; there are plenty of options to choose from. Thank you!

My nanna came to stay at your home after being discharged from hospital. As soon as she arrived she was made to feel welcomed and cared for. She was only with you for a short time but I do know from all that I witnessed that she was clean, cared for and loved. Thank you for making my nanna's final days

Woodleigh Care Home, wow absolutely amazing. When my grandma was in and out of hospital she would need to have respite before going home. She had been to a few and didn't like them for different reasons but when she was in Woodleigh she absolutely loved it. The staff are so great and give the most amazing
care to their residents. The staff even helped me with sorting out home care for when she was going home. Mama always told me never let her go into a care home and she would rather walk in the Sutton res before going in a care home. We lost my mama in November and she even mentioned about letting her go there full time. Unfortunately, we lost her before I could get this organised. Such a shame but the care home I couldn't fault at all. Mama had a hairdresser come in and do her hair and she was able to socialise with different people she loved it. Thanks, Woodleigh you're the best.

My husband moved to Woodleigh Christian Care Home in September 2021 after his care package at home ended suddenly. As a family, we were very anxious about this, as we had always imagined caring for my husband at home.
From our very first visit to Woodleigh, we have been so pleased to find a small,
welcoming home where residents are treated as part of the Woodleigh family. The home has a friendly, caring atmosphere, decorated to feel like a home from home.
We have been so pleased by the activities which take place to entertain the residents. For example, my husband (who is in a wheelchair) was taken out for a trip to a dementia cinema with two other residents in the local town. If you look on the Facebook page you will see all the varied activities which take place to bring smiles to the residents.
The meals are good. A nurse is always on duty, a caring chaplain regularly visits and the staff and manager are friendly and approachable. Thank you, Woodleigh for caring for my husband.

I feel that here at Woodleigh we put emphasis on each resident as an individual, promoting their choices and enabling them to maintain links with the wider community. There is a wide activities programme and all staff work together to encourage people to continue their long-term hobbies and take up new ones.


I believe the only way to achieve the very best care, is to have a well-trained and dedicated staff team, all of whom possess all the core values and beliefs that I and the company feel are essential to be a part of the Woodleigh Care Home.
