This care home provides amazing help, support, and service to my loved one there. The staff along with the manager are exceptional in the way they treat someone very important to me. They show the compassion, care, and affection needed in a care home. I want to thank all the staff working at Carrington
Care Home. Thank you.

An excellent carer was organised for my elderly Mum. The whole process of selecting and confirming the carer placement was very smooth with lots of support before and during. The carer was very professional and made a significant difference to my mum’s mobility and demeanour. She was a lovely, warm
and caring person who was a welcome addition to the household and worked hard to win our trust. We will use again without hesitation and highly recommend.

Mum had fabulous care in Caring House from start to finish until she passed away in September 2022, the staff were very lovely but professional at the same time, she had been there for approximately seven years, and never had any issues with the wonderful staff.

From the day my mum moved in for a respite placement the staff and management have been fantastic. They are friendly and helpful and the food and care are top quality. My mum has now been resident for 2 years and is very happy. The home has been well maintained and is beautifully decorated as promised.
Top place and especially top staff.

I selected Carrington House for Dad after viewing many care-homes; it wasn't the poshest, but the staff were positive, cheerful. Happy staff make for good care!

When Dad went into hospital a carer stayed 2 hours beyond her shift ensuring Dad did not wake up alone and get frightened.

Dad was very

poorly in last few weeks, a lot of affection and care was shown by staff helping a lot at a difficult time.

Residents with memory problems, but otherwise mentally alert can at times be bored/frustrated; this is a problem for the majority if not all care homes. Some care homes have a lot of 1 to many activities, but often residents want more one to one time. There are residents who would like to do something but are not self-starters. More volunteers/buddies are needed in care homes in general.

Whenever I saw a resident who was particularly unwell, staff took extra special care of that person, with someone sitting with them for extended periods; very caring, well recommended.

The staff are very polite and helpful. Depending on who is in the kitchen, the meals can sometimes be bland and tasteless. It worries me with the amount of staff who do not stay very long. My parents just get used to someone who is nice and the next minute, they are gone. Carrington House is a nice,
clean care home and it is being refurbished - not enough toilets and sometimes they are queuing to go.
But I don't worry about my parents, they are safe.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.232)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.232) out of 10 for Carrington House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Carrington House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.482 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Carrington House Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.357

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
