Ideally located on the edge of Oldham and recently benefitting from a refurbishment programme, Avalon Park offers personalised residential and residential dementia care in a home from home environment.

Residents benefit from a range of comfortable areas where they can socialise and relax, including a number of dining spaces that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. The delightful tea room is also a firm favourite with residents and their loved ones.

The team across the home, from Care Assistants to Wellbeing Coordinators and Chefs, is dedicated to promoting and enhancing resident wellbeing. The catering team creates delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors, whilst the care team at Avalon Park creates a varied activities programme to suit the interests and capabilities of each resident.

I have found the improvement over the time that the new manager took over to be quite dramatic. The home is now clean - brighter and happier and the staff appear happier and more caring. I am delighted at the improvement.

My Mum came to Avalon Park Care Home after being in a respite home. We immediately felt we were welcomed and Mum has settled in very, very well. This is very much down to the staff who have been all excellent. As a family, this decision was an extremely hard one to make and it makes us all feel so much
better that we know Mum is being really well looked after. The food is really nice and Mum is putting the weight back on that she lost whilst in respite.

My Mother-in-law has resided at Avalon Park for 20 months, the last 12 months with a new manager and a very supportive and caring team and the home has improved enormously. My Mother-in-law is safe and comfortable and is being well looked after. Since engaging an activities co-ordinator, lovely activities
are provided, eventually with outings. Entertainment is put on singers etc. there are also pampering days. Regular meetings are held with any issues raised being dealt with. We as relatives are always invited to join the residents to enjoy a meal with them. The hairdresser visits on a weekly basis. Avalon Park is a caring and friendly home with dedicated staff and management.

I find Avalon Park to be a very clean and a nice place to visit.
All the staff are very polite and nice to talk to.
The management are very pleased to help you of you need it.

Really pleased with the way things have improved since my mum arrived in August. Our main concern was mum enjoys trips out and there were none in place but now if has been introduced. The staff are always friendly and helpful and great you with a smile. Every time I visit, there is always tea, coffee
and biscuits available for residents and plenty of activities for them to join in with. Overall a good experience.

My nan has lived in Avalon Park for years and they have been very supportive of her living with dementia. My nan was very unwell a few months ago and even had pressure sores. With the home;s help, she is now walking again, eating again and the sore has healed.

My mother was admitted to Avalon Park Care Home in August 2016 after having two broken hips. I chose the home because it was bright and modern and had no funny smells, I didn't think I would ever see my mother walk again but she is! All the staff are lovely always pleasant and cheerful. My mother also
has dementia and can sometimes be a bit difficult but the staff always seem to be able to calm her down. Overall I'm pleased by the way she's settled.

My family and I chose Avalon Park Care home to place my husband in February 2014; we felt being a lovely, modern and pleasant home, it was a perfect choice. Over several months "cracks" began to appear and the standards dropped considerably, with cause for new managers to come in but to no avail, following
the appointment of the new manager this home has been completely transformed with many improvements ongoing.
Staff motivation is apparent with everyone working as a great team. My husband is very precious to me and if I can't have him at home with me, which isn't possible due to his condition, then there is nowhere I would rather him be. I have every satisfaction that this home is going from strength to strength.

The care home is clean and welcoming they provide all the support you need. My father has been in there since December 2013 and has settled really well, great atmosphere always there for support for family if needed, clean rooms all the residents get well looked after. Staff are all there for you when
needed, you know that your family are in safe hands and that they are being well looked after. You can sit back and know they are in safe hands.

Thoroughly satisfied with the progress and development of the home over the past couple of months. My granddad is happy and settled even though confronted with set backs, staff have always been supportive and twice for him whenever he needs. It's really relieving to know he's in safe hands.

My mother was so happy at Avalon Park for 21 months until her death in January 2016. She loved all the staff and they loved her too. She felt safe an cared for. Yes there were a few issues such as the cleanliness of her room but they could be addressed. The staff although overworked and I must add grossly
underpaid, always had time for residents as well as relatives. The joy and stimulation provided, especially, the activities team was amazing. The visual aesthetically pleasing corridors, lounge and gardens were the result of sheer hard work over and above what was expected of them. It was a place where even her great grandchildren would come which delighted my mother, as well as the other residents. Every event was superbly put together. It was a care home with a heart not a sterile institution, I do hope the new management do not take happiness and love out of Avalon Park and replace it with bureaucratic rules and regulations to deflate and reduce morale of both staff and residents!

I visit my mother twice a week. The staff are always friendly and caring. The girls that do the entertainment plan always seem to be working hard and provide a variety of things for residents to do. The home always appears clean.

You do not have enough staff of your own, agency staff do not care. Supervision is a problem.

We take on board the comments on this review. We do currently use agency staff alongside our own staff. We are actively recruiting into vacant posts however in the interim we must maintain safe staffing levels with the use of agency. An interim Manager is in post to provide direct leadership and management of staff and the care our staff deliver is at the centre of all we do. This is carefully monitored by our Management team on a daily basis and by our Senior Management team.

My mum came to Avalon Park in June 2015 and has settled in well. It was a very difficult decision for the family for mum to have to go into a care home as she is an independent lady but is now unable to look after herself fully, we now know it was for the best and she is cared for well. There is always
a cup of tea to hand and someone for a chat. Mum joins in with the activities at the home and has even been out for lunch.

My grandma has been at the home for a couple of months, she has settled in very nicely. The home has a nice garden where she can look at from her window or sit in when we have nice weather. Staff are caring, gran seems happy and looked after that's all you can ask for.
