My mum became a resident in 2021, the staff were friendly, helpful and very caring. All of her needs were really well catered for, nothing was too much trouble. She was treated with great dignity and compassion throughout her stay. The staff have all of the families thanks for their care.

My husband has been a resident since February 2021. The care he receives is excellent, he is treated with great respect and compassion. The staff are caring and treat him with dignity. The room he is in is clean and comfortable, the meals are nourishing and there are drinks available throughout the
day. Overall, the home is spotlessly clean. I always get a warm welcome and I am able to ring the home when I can't visit. The management of the home is excellent. Overall, the care is great value for money.

My mum is currently on her 3rd week of respite in Ashbourne House. My first thoughts on arrival with mum were, how clean and tidy it was and smelt so fresh. We were given a warm welcome and mum was just in time for her dinner, which smelt amazing. Mum always looks clean and tidy, has different clothing
every day, earrings in and her hair always looks nice. The staff are so caring and friendly, I visit daily as I am only 10 minutes away, each visit I notice how well everyone is taken care of and treated with respect and dignity.

Asbourne is a hidden gem with lovely views from the windows.
All the staff are fantastic they are so nice and helpful when you need to ask them something and the residents told me how nice and homely it is. It has such a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
The food is nice and if there is something they fancy
ie an omelette and it's not on the menu then they will cook it for them, today they were having lollies or icecream this afternoon because it was warm so that was my cue to leave her chatting to the lady she was sat with.
Mum had been there for a week now and the transformation is amazing, she looks a lot better dressed smart hair nice and she even has her earrings in again which was lovely to see her looking a lot better after being in hospital. All Mum's needs are met and she is happy with the care she is receiving. I don't feel guilty leaving as I know Mum is in safe hands. 10/10 guys, thank you for what you are doing for our mum.
I have put don't know for activities yet I've not asked.

My mother was in Ashbourne Care Home for a year. During that time she was very well looked after. She was always clean and tidy whenever I visited. The staff were so friendly, caring and helpful. I was quite happy for Mum to be there, and Mum seemed to be quite satisfied too.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.045)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.045) out of 10 for Ashbourne Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.964 for Ashbourne Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.964

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.081 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.581

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
