Being as I have not been able to visit my partner indoor for over a year I, therefore, have to write a limited review. I have had window visits once a week though there were periods when these did not happen. Facetime was instigated as well. Observing my partner through the window and was able to see
that he was well cared for, clean and suitably dressed. His appearance gave me no cause for concern, which is a credit to the carers. At times he became frustrated and upset and as he has speech difficulties, his understanding of the whole situation was questionable. Other times he was very happy to see me.
One negative that I do have regarding the 'window visits' is that we were supervised throughout our visit which I found objectionable as we were not able to have any private or personal conversations. This apparently was the rule. I feel that every resident should have been assessed individually as to whether the visits should be supervised.

Mum is very happy here. The staff have worked hard and kept things going over a difficult period without a manager or administrators. Now, there is a new manager and administrator things should run well - both seem very committed, which should resume when the new coordinator starts. She enjoys the food,
her room is comfortable as are the other areas in the home, the lounge and the dining room. Mum has settled in well and feels at home. It is a very homely environment.

I have visited the home a few times, to visit an old neighbour. The staff have always been warm and welcoming. Food always looks nice and well presented. Activity coordinator has just started and seems really enthusiastic. Rooms are lovely and homely. It is always clean and never noticed any smells.

Hulton Care Home have cared for my mum for just over a year. The staff are always friendly and helpful and have mum's best interest at heart. She tells me she feels safe and well cared for. Her room is always clean and the bed is changed regularly. She enjoys the food and is impressed with the new menu.
Any concerns we have are dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Visited my relative a few times over the last few months. The home has always been welcoming, clean and the care team are fabulous and dedicated. Recent new manager seems to want to move the home forward. I would wholeheartedly recommend this home.

My very elderly mother has needed residential care for the past six months.

She likes the homely feeling of the home and praises the staff and service.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful.

My brother is a 'nil by mouth' resident. I visit five days a week for 20 - 30 minutes at lunchtime. Due to my visits at lunchtime, I am not present for the activities that take place.
I don't have any dealings with his financial accounts.

When my mum was in here they looked after her as though she was their parent. The staff are exceptional, hard-working and I wouldn't have put my mum anywhere else. It's an excellent home.

Mum was advised after eleven weeks in the hospital to have a six-week respite care break. My husband and I had to view a few places but Hulton Care appeared far superior to others and fortunately mum was able to go to Hulton Care. After four weeks there she said she wanted to become a full-time resident.
The care she receives has certainly helped my mum, even her own doctor has commented on how much better she looks now. We are impressed with the carers/staff. She is treated well with dignity and compassion. Thank you.

I have been here for at least 5 maybe 6 months while I recovered from heart-failure, and so far I have been treated perfectly well, even though I admit I have not always been the model patient I could have been, they still put up with me, for which I am grateful.

My mum has now been a resident at this home for 3 years.
This was a very difficult decision for myself and my sister.
The staff at this home are amazing! They are all very caring and considerate.
We couldn't ask for any better care for our mum.

My uncle has been in the home for 14 months and during that time he has received excellent care from the staff as they go over and above the expected requirements. Entering the home, there is a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

I went to several care home in the area looking for a suitable place for my elderly mother, with my niece. This for us was by far the best we were greeted warmly and shown around. All facilities were shown to us and also what the rooms were like, we had a lot of questions and concerns and all of these
were answered as well as other information. It is very clean all carers are friendly, efficient and attentive. This making it a lot less stressful when placing my mother into care.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.564)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.564) out of 10 for Hulton Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.664 for Hulton Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.664

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hulton Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
