Mum moved to Cherrytrees Care Home following a 5-week stay in hospital. She settled in really well and despite the difficult circumstances of no visiting the staff kept us up to date with Mum's progress.
Once we were allowed to visit, the measures put in place to ensure safety were very good. Mum
appeared settled and contented and was always smartly dressed in her own clothes. The staff were very kind and friendly and made the effort to talk to me to find out Mum's likes and dislikes. They made videos of her activity within the home and it was reassuring to see her eating well and getting on with her knitting.
Sadly, Mum has since passed away but we know that during her final weeks she was happy and active.
The staff members were excellent and I would certainly recommend Cherrytrees.

I was more than happy with the kind, caring service given to my dad. He was not very happy with his life near the end but they helped to get through a hard time for him. l would like to thank all the management and staff and have no problem recommending Cherrytrees Care Home.

Our relative was well cared for by all the staff and was happy to be there. The staff treated him with compassion and dignity and he responded well to the stimulation provided by the activities, joining in with virtually everything, and always opting to spend his days in the communal rooms rather than
in his own room.

My mum was only in the care home a short time. During that short time she made friends of the nursing staff and carers and was very comfortable and treated with the utmost care. Thank you for making my mum's last few months as happy as could be.

My father went here after a seven-week hospital stay. His clothes and personal belongings were taken there two days before he arrived and it was promised they would all be set out in his room ready for him. He couldn't walk or stand without assistance.
Unfortunately, my dad was only there a month
and he was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with Covid-19. He passed away six days later.
When we went to retrieve my dad's belongings they were still packed up the exact same way I had packed them. Nothing had been set up for him and a bag of dirty clothes, only four items of these belonged to my dad, the rest belonged to another resident. I sent off a CQC report and the promises from the home that he would be taken care of as no visits were allowed with the Covid-19 pandemic. If I had known his belongings would have just been put in his room and left I would never have let him go there. The response to my complaint was unbelievable. I wouldn't ever recommend this home to anyone.

Reply from Darren Bisby, Care Manager at Cherrytrees Care Home

I am deeply sorry you feel this way and you have had a negative experience when your father was admitted to our home.
New admissions to our care home had strict guidelines to abide, including no visitors and new admissions were to be isolated for a period of 14 days under Covid 19 policies.
We are sorry you did not respond to the home’s complaint escalation procedure offered to you as detailed in my letter to you.
The home had to endure very difficult times in supporting everybody during the outbreak of the coronavirus. During these unprecedented times the home went through situations the home had never come across before. The home has gained a better understanding of the pandemic and have now become more prepared in dealing in such horrible situations.
The home is implemented more robust procedures in dealing with this situation has become a learning curve to improve our services, we thank you for raising your concerns.
I’m very sorry for your loss.

My dad was a resident of Cherrytrees nursing home for nearly twelve months, we are more than happy with the care my dad received while he was there.
The staff were first class in every aspect of care, the home has a very welcoming and homely feel with many activities for the residents. My dad seemed
settled there after having to move him from a previous home. We noticed a definite change in him, and we will always be grateful for the care and attention given to my dad, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, many thanks to the Manager and the staff at Cherrytrees.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.767)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.767) out of 10 for Cherrytrees Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.867 for Cherrytrees Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.867

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cherrytrees Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
