Newlands care home is registered for nursing and residential residents. The home is 30 bedded and is staffed by nurses 24 hours a day. All rooms are ensuite.

Newlands has a garden for residents to enjoy at the back of the home and a full activities programme with an activity coordinator. Activities are tailored to suit the residents' own interests. There is CCTV in communal areas for additional reassurance.

The home is registered with the Beth din and caters for the Jewish community. The home also caters for non-Jewish residents.

The home has a friendly atmosphere and is staffed by qualified nurses and carers to ensure that the residents receive the highest quality care. The home is currently making improvements to the environment, and residents are involved in choosing the colour schemes and décor of each area.

  • Admission Criteria
    • The home manager liaises with the local authorities and CHC teams when receiving referrals for potential residents being admitted into the Home. Manager and clinical lead arrange to meet face to face to assess whether we are able to meet the needs of the people planning to come in to Newlands. This enables a more accurate assessment and provide face to face contact so that the person feels at ease and has a friendly face should they be accepted for a placement. The home ensures that all information regarding the person is sent- ei medication and individual abilities , medical background discharge summaries for smooth transition . Newlands operates an open door policy and visitors can come at any time. We do promote a protective meal time however we do acknowledge visitors may need to come at these times and and we encourage families to assist residents to eat and drink- providing them with a meal also if they wish.

The staff are some of the most amazing caring people I've ever met. They go above and beyond to make my mother-in-law feel happy andl comfortable in the home. Since she's been here, her health and wellbeing have improved massively.

Newlands Care Home is a very friendly and homely place to live. I have witnessed the care given to my friend over the last two years and it has been excellent. The staff go above and beyond making sure everyone is looked after. I visit my friend regularly and she is always well-presented and happy,
her room is always clean and clothes well laundered. The staff provide activities daily and include every resident. Christmas 2024 was celebrated with a party and New Year's Day was equally enjoyed by each resident, visitor and staff. Residents here are all treated the same regardless of their abilities and I know from experience that visitors are welcomed at any time. I am always notified of any changes in her condition and am encouraged to play a part in her wellbeing.

Staff absolutely amazing.
If anything needed it's done straight away.
All family and friends of my sister have been welcome it's like one big family.
Staff are very helpful with understanding her needs.

Regarding my mother's care and the other residents' is always first class. It's as if they can't do enough because of my mother's eating habits, she doesn't always eat what they serve but that's not the fault of the kitchen, she still eats enough. I have no problems with the service my mum gets.

Newlands Care Home. Is a very friendly care home. All the staff from cooks, carers, nurses, office staff are fantastic, caring, lovely people. My mother has been in Newlands Care Home for over 3 years. She came here from the hospital and all the staff have gone out of their way to give my mam fantastic

My elderly mother has been with Newlands for over 12 months now and I cannot express enough how well the wonderful friendly staff look after her, they are always there for her, she can be quite nasty at times due to her condition, but it doesn't deter her carers, I can only hope that if the time comes
similar for me, my family will find a place as wonderful as this for me, I am always welcome to visit and the staff come forward to inform me if they have any concerns about my mum, they are and always have been very supportive and helpful, her room and all other areas are very clean. When we were looking for a place for her to stay, we were advised not to give a thought to any that smelt of urine, or overly had a smell of bleach, this Care Home had neither, just smelt clean and always has every single time I visit, which is at least 2 times a week. Thanks!

We went to look around a few care homes, and then we came to see Newlands. We felt really anxious at first, but as soon as we walked in the home, we felt at ease the atmosphere was really warm and welcoming and the manager was lovely and friendly. We also met the activities co-ordinator who is also
lovely and does a lot of activities with the residents. The food is really nice and you can even have lunch and sit with your loved ones. Our family is really happy with the care my Dad is receiving, and we feel happy to leave my Dad knowing he is getting looked after. The staff have been amazing with my Dad and he has settled in really well.

I feel confident that my relative is well cared for at Newlands in all respects. All the staff are caring, courteous and friendly and welcome visitors warmly. Staff at every level are supportive of resident's families. I sometimes think that communication of some issues within the home could be widely
circulated to families. However, when I have a query or concern it is always addressed as quickly as possible, and feedback is given.

From the first day Mum and Dad arrived at Newlands Care Home all the staff made them feel very much at home. The care and support everyone gave was heartwarming and genuine. Nothing was too much trouble. Even when they were rushed off their feet, they always made time to make my husband and myself a
lovely cup of tea with a biscuit. Sadly, my dad passed after a few short weeks of being there, and all the staff gave Mum extra tlc and support, which really helped Mum. Mum joined in with the entertainment and music, and I have a lovely video of Mum dancing with a member of the staff. The care manager and Assistant Care Manager were very understanding and reassuring whenever I rang with any questions about Mum during the first few weeks after Dad passed.
Unfortunately Mum had to be transferred to another care home due to family circumstances, but if that hadn't been the case, Mum would definitely have stayed.

Since my uncle was admitted for initially respite but now is a permanent resident, he has received nothing but excellent care. The staff are pleasant, caring and informative. My uncle is always clean and presentable each time I visit, I have never seen him looking so clean, and his mood has lifted since
being at Newlands. The care home is full of love, and the communal area is always busy with residents socialising. My family and I are really happy with the service and care our uncle receives.

My sister resides at Newlands and I am happy she is safe here. staff are approachable and nothing seems to ever be a trouble for them. I can go home at night and I am happy and able to sleep knowing that she is cared for and loved. I would certainly recommend this home and have already done so.

I can't fault Newlands for the care of my sister. All the staff are friendly and caring and helpful towards my sister. All her needs are being met, the room is kept lovely and clean, the meals are well cooked and a brilliant choice of menu. There are plenty of activities on offer if anyone wishes to
join in. Everybody is very friendly and it gives us peace of mind my sister is being well looked after.

Coming from Australia and seeing the home for the first time, I was unsure what I was going to see, I have to admit I was in for a big surprise, the home is extremely well run and the staff are very caring, the food was very nice and I had lunch there also. All in all, I'm very happy with Mum's care
and I can go back to the land of Oz knowing Mum will be well cared for. There are many activities for the residents and everyone is happy. Kind regards.

My brother was taken to Newlands from hospital after suffering from various problems including Covid. The care and attention he received brought him back to life. He was treated by all members of staff with loving care and he improved due to this to the point where we were able to take him home.

My family has been associated with Newlands for over 10 years. Initially they looked after my mother, and now my sister lives there.
In one word - superb! The staff, from the cleaners through to the carers, nurses, kitchen staff and management are all gentle and caring, and that is after all the most
important thing when your loved one is in their hands.
Some of the categories below have not received the 'excellent' mark, purely because this is a very small home, and does not have the physical facilities of larger establishments. But in terms of looking after the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of my loved one, I couldn't think of a better facility in this area.
The current management are continually striving to improve and innovate, and the end results are happy and contented residents, as well as we, the families, are assured that our loved ones are receiving the best possible care in a clean and safe environment.

The very dear Mum of my twin brother and I lived at Newlands for the last 5-years of her life. She was looked after with utterly dedicated care by all the members of staff, who I would only describe as 'salt of the earth'. When visiting Mum, it was always impossible to not notice how emotionally demanding
the work of a carer is, and yet everyone working at Newlands treated our mother as if she were the most precious heart and soul of their very own family. I can only give my utmost love and thanks to all of you who lifted the spirit of dear Mum in the jewelled twilight years of her life. Bless you, all.

I Started work at Newlands in 2003, I had never worked in the Care sector before, so I started with a position on the catering side and worked up to head of the catering department. Due to a shoulder injury, I left that position after many years and came onto the clerical side working alongside the home manager in the day-to-day running of the home. It was the best career change 19 years ago I could have made as I have a great passion and respect for the elderly. I have gained a whole wealth of knowledge in the care sector since I started in 2003. I love being able to interact with both residents and families.
