Arbour Court do not tell me anything about what is going on regarding my loved one's health and welfare. My experience is that medication can be forgotten to be, or just not, re-ordered when it runs out which resulted in a really bad reaction in my loved one. My loved one has assessments or might need
extra care, perhaps because of bed sores, or have other things, like injections, opticians visits or something similar and I am not informed. A carer told me that they are not allowed to change pads at less than six hourly intervals when I asked somebody if they could put a fresh pad on. When I have asked for help for my loved one on more than one occasion, I was told there is no one available. I will say, though, that there are carers who are really lovely, dedicated and excellent in doing a really difficult job. By the same token, there are one or two less than helpful. The building was purpose built and, I think it is very suitable. The food, again, is excellent.

Mum settled into Arbour Court from the moment she arrived. She is very content and happy there.
The staff are very caring, polite and respectful towards residents and their relatives. They deal with everything calmly and seem to have endless patience.
The atmosphere at Arbour Court is welcoming. The
staff are always friendly and they have a good rapport with the residents and relatives.
It is reassuring to be able to entrust Mum's care to people who genuinely seem to care for each resident and who are stoically committed to their work.

My Stepfather, who had dementia, was admitted from hospital. Sadly he deteriorated quickly due to his illness. Although he was only at Arbour Court for six days his 'End of Life' care was outstanding with care for my Stepfather and consideration for the family. At every stage, we were kept informed.

Mum had a one week period of respite.
We found all of the staff very polite and respectful, showing a high degree of care and kindness.

My friend was admitted from hospital on 9 February. She has vascular dementia and is very frail. I have found the staff to be caring, helpful and knowledgeable. As a result, her physical health has improved although she is largely bedbound. Communication is good and visiting arrangements very flexible.

Care by the staff for my mother throughout her 33 months stay was first rate. The nursing and care staff were always efficient, caring and kind to my mother and to family, whatever pressure of work they were under. The staff always made time for relatives and were at all times compassionate as well
as professional. They were also open and honest about mums condition and treatment and prospects. Having visited other dementia care facilities locally. I would say Arbour Court.

Since the day my dad went into Arbour Court he has been looked after impeccably, both in cleanliness and clothing. His skin has never been so good, no more sores or ulcers.
The staff tend to his needs and are always polite and caring with him. They take the time to talk to him even though he does not
always respond.
This home always smells nice and is clean.

Due to the deterioration of mums dementia, it was an emotional decision to move mum into a care home, however, mum has now been resident at Arbour Court for over 12 months and is extremely happy there. Everyone at Arbour Court is warm and friendly generating a very positive and peaceful atmosphere and
the genuine care they give is excellent. Everyone is treated with such kindness and respect and they consistently ensure mum and all residents are given the help and support they need 24 hours a day. After looking at many other care homes I can honestly say this is the best.

After reviewing about 30 homes in 2010, my son chose this home after 2 others had been tried and found wanting. They have looked after my wife (with Alzheimer's) superbly well, both on private money and now on state funding. There was no shortfall fee and all the staff are very helpful and caring and
I have even learned some Tagalog with their help.
We consider this the best in the area.

My husband wasn't with you long, but the time he spent with you was quality. The staff couldn't have been more caring. "Everything" about Barchester Arbour Court Care Home was first class, I just wish he'd been there longer. They evoke kindness itself to me and I never felt alone. Their quiet, calm
way of dealing with things was an inspiration. We as a family couldn't fault the care they provided. I would recommend Barchester Arbour Court Care Home to anyone who loves their family and wants complete all round caring.

My father fell seriously ill some time ago and though staff in the hospital were kind and caring the way hospitals work meant he was moved around a lot growing confused and weak. Finally he was found to be too ill to return home but not able to benefit fro. further time on a ward. Thank goodness for
Arbour Court. From his first day, over a year ago, he has known nothing but kindness, compassion and respect. His room is wonderfully personal and the whole place is well equipped to meet a range of needs. The food is fresh and the menu varied. It is not "home" but it is as close as we could wish. We are always made welcome and we have no doubt that this will continue.

My husband is walking for England, when he first went in the home but the staff made sure he ate food walking about in there. They have always been wonderful people to look after him and keep him going. Unforunately because he fell over when walking he has now been in bed for 3 1/2 years because his
body has deteriorated but unfortunately this is what happens in life. The new doctor who came to the practice 2 3/4 years ago is wonderful and comes to the care home to see all the residents individually.

I haven't rated all option categories excellent solely due to the financial constraints Arbour Court have to work within, I'm in no doubt with sufficient resources staff and management would ensure all residents receive excellent care 24/7 365 days a year with excellent facilities and activities. I'm
very impressed by the obvious dedication and commitment of staff and management to provide the highest level of care they can and how warm, welcoming and inclusive they are with residents and relatives. I'm confident my Dad is in the best possible, affordable alternative to his own home his condition necessitates. He settled in quickly, appears comfortable and content when we visit 2/3 times a week, hasn't once mentioned 'going home' or attempted to leave with us in the 4 months he's lived there.

I have worked for the NHS and Care Home sector for almost 12 years as a Registered General Nurse, Nurse Manager, Deputy Manager and Clinical Lead.


The Care Home sector for me is the most rewarding and satisfying and I feel it’s where I belong and thebe.

I have many years of experience in administration and accounts and achieved the qualifications in NVQ Levels two and three in business and administration.
