Accommodation at Bowerfield House is provided for residents in single rooms, some of which have en-suite facilities and a double room. Rooms are fully carpeted and are decorated to a high standard as well as being equipped with essential furniture, TV, nurse call system, smoke detectors and telephone socket.

Residents can enjoy the well-maintained garden and patio area. Parking is available for twelve vehicles.

Visitors are always welcome at Bowerfield House and there are no restrictions.

My father suffered from dementia for over four years and for the last year and a bit of his life was cared for by the staff at Bowerfield House. He was always well looked after, cared for and given every opportunity to participate as to any activity in the nursing home. He was treated with dignity at
all times with good food provided.

Pleased with mum's care.
All staff are considerate and management is approachable and helpful.
Some agency staff and nurses are not so good but to be fair, in my experience, that's not unusual.

The staff at Bowerfield; managers, nurses, carers, catering staff and admin staff were always professional and supportive to me and my father during my mums 8 year stay at the home. My mother's behaviour could be challenging and the staff always treated her with dignity and respect and I would say,
love. To the very end, they were kind to my mum and my father with Alzheimer's. Each played their part until her death 3 weeks ago.

My dad has been cared for at Bowerfield for 18 months. Everyone has been warm and friendly, generating a very positive and peaceful atmosphere. The genuine individualised care they give is appreciated. The staff have been aware of dad's particular needs in all aspects, including his “walking around”
all night.
The food is prepared on the premises and personal dietary requirements are taken into account.
Staff training needs are well supported. Specialist dementia knowledge is vital to care for dad with dignity and respect.
The establishment of the permanent team now in place has been so successful as dad responds to regular known faces, but not to strangers so well.
I have always been very involved in dad's care plan development and feel have been an integral part in continuing to support dad along his dementia journey. I am always contacted with any health concerns immediately.
Regular visits to dad give us as a real understanding of the level support given by all staff.

My mother moved here having had a failed placement and been asked to move because of her complex needs. Since being at Bowerfield, all her needs have been assessed and a care plan put in place to address them. The staff treat her with respect and compassion empowering her to be her own person and make
as many decisions for herself as she is able to. Her daily routine has been enhanced and she enjoys time with her carers.

Bowerfield is improving. The manager is working very hard to bring it back to the standard it used to be. The laundry room is excellent now. Always clean clothes ready to dress residents every day.

Bowerfield House Nursing Home has been through many ups and downs over the last 12 months. During the past week and since the departure of the deputy manager, the home has been a hive of industry with the home being thoroughly cleaned and the laundry almost back to normal. The manager of two homes is
clearly determined to improve conditions and there is evidence to this effect.

The home has deteriorated considerably within the last few months. It has been without a permanent manager for some considerable time (a new one is now in place) but each temporary peripatetic manager seems to have to leave her mark in some way ie. a considerable amount of money must have been spent
in re-decorating the main corridors within a short space of time, whereas the cleanliness of the home ie. the carpet in the main lounge needs cleaning/replacing and in my relatives room is unclean and basic needs are not being met.


Although there are many new carers they have been using agency nurses and my relative will not take her medication from an "unknown face" and consequently, I am finding tablets on the floor of her room and in her handbag. All of which have been reported to the nursing staff. The laundry service is appalling.

Wonderful care home. Always made very welcome by all the staff. My husband is well cared for and is very comfortable - he loves being here and enjoys all activities and music.
