Dad was a resident at Barchester Marple Dale Care Home for eighteen months and I have reflected carefully on his time there (management initially sent us this review to complete after he had only been there for one month which felt too soon to give an accurate assessment).
The home itself is very well
presented in a peaceful setting and there are activities for residents, including days out. The staff were generally good and some were excellent. I didn't have much contact with the manager but the deputy manager was defensive and unhelpful when an issue was raised about Dad's care. Food, whilst generally good, was at times poor - too much chicken nuggets and chips. Admin was very efficient and helpful.
This was a corporate-run care home and as such, it met all the required governance and care standards but probably lacked a more intimate and homely care environment that you might find in smaller care facilities.

My dad was fast tracked from hospital, from the minute he arrived he has been treated with the upmost care and respect. I cannot thank all the staff for the kindness shown to him and also to me. Dad is poorly so will not see just how beautiful a place Barchester Marple Dale Care Home is. Outside everything
is maintained to a high standard, inside the lounge and bistro areas are decorated and furnished beautifully as are the corridors. I would not hesitate to recommend Marple Dale, it is 10/10 from me.

The constant care provided by Barchester Marple Dale Care Home for my mother has been exceptional. They have made her feel welcome whilst she transitioned from living a totally independent life to needing full-time care due to medical conditions.
The nursing staff have been fantastic with all her specialist
care she has required, ensuring the correct treatment and dressings have been carried out, getting her from bed-bound to being mobile again with the help of a walking frame.
My mother feels comfortable and has a good rapport with the majority of the care and management staff and has a smile on her face most of the time which tells me she is comfortable.

My brother was admitted to this care home 5 weeks ago. The home is beautiful, that's why we chose it. However, the care in this place is awful. Some careers were fine but there were a few that were incompetent. The food is absolutely horrendous. We talked to residents who order out 4 times a week because
the food is so bad. My brother had a medical emergency and the nurses did nothing but stand at the bottom of his bed and watch. We had to ask them to do something to help him. The manager is absolutely appalling. We had a few issues and she refused to speak to us. My sister went down to speak to her and she hid in her office and sent her an email saying she was busy. I would not recommend this care home to anyone. They have no compassion for the vulnerable residents they are supposed to be looking after. They have been reported to CQC and the Council by my brother's social worker.

Our home team are always available to support and well share your feedback with them about meals, however, the feedback we usually receive about food at Marple Dale is positive. We do have some younger residents who enjoy eating fast food takeaway as their preference and were very happy to support them. We understand that your brothers needs are very complex and assisted to ensure he has the care needed including in an emergency. Sadly, due to the complexity of the care required, the decision was made they were no longer able to sustain the placement. I visited my friend with many doubts, having visited many care homes but my goodness, what a wonderful experience! My friend was settled and happy after only a couple of weeks. The environment was exceptional - clean, bright, fresh and well cared for. All the staff I met were true carers - wanting the
best for the residents. They were professional, friendly but most of all, caring. Nothing was too much trouble. All the questions of a new resident were answered and dealt with immediately. I came away happy that my friend had found a home from home - with the help she needs. Thank you.

Super service from the moment we enquired regarding a possible place for an elderly friend.
Admission and open discussion with the senior administrator was first-class and continued to be so up to obtaining a place.
Highly rate the administrator and the staff. Nursing lead was also super.

My wife is very happy here now that she has settled down. The staff are very attentive to her needs and friendly. The food is not what she's used to because she is on a puree diet, but she is coping. Everyone here has gone that bit more caring for her and we are pleased with everything especially as

My mother moved to your care home in July 2021 and after settling in developed quiet serious bed sores and weight loss due to staffing care problems in Autumn 2021. After meeting with the various care authorities, my mother's care was monitored and has improved remarkably. Her bed sores have healed,
she has gained some weight and is encouraged to eat by the care staff.
We are encouraged by the progress and grateful for the dedicated staff. We would however feel that to improve mother's wellbeing, we would like to see mother take part in some more activities wherever possible for her mental health.

My mum has spent a long period of time in hospital, she desperately wanted to go home but an MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting deemed this unsafe so she reluctantly was admitted to Marple Dale Care Home until a decision could be made about her returning to her own home.
From the moment Mum arrived
at Marple Dale, the whole team treated her like a member of their own family, she tells me she feels like a queen.
The care provided is person-centred and my mum feels loved and safe, Mum has put on weight since her admission and enjoys the company of all the staff.
Mum loves her room and the food, she likes Marple Dale so much that she now wants to stay as a permanent resident.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the team for looking after my mum so well, it has really put my mind at rest knowing she is happy and receiving excellent care.

Hi, my name is Michelle, and I am the General Manager here at Marple Dale Care Centre.


Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Marple Dale Care Centre has to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life. I have worked for the Healthcare sector for approximately 25 years as a Registered General Nurse, Nurse Manager, Turnaround Manager and Registered Manager throughout the Manchester & Lancashire Area working alongside a wealth of experienced healthcare professionals.


I love my role and what I do and I am lucky to be supported by a fantastic team that demonstrates a nurturing warm and compassionate approach.
