After a previous home, Mum was admitted to another care home for 8 months. After careful consideration, they thought Hilltop Court would be best suited to my Mum's needs. We initially had a few settling in problems, but now our Mum is the happiest we have seen her in over 12 months. She is settled and
loves the staff. They all seem to have a very good understanding of the needs of the residents that are there.

Thank you for taking the time to review the care and services at Hilltop Court. You have perfectly explained how the happiness of a resident is totally dependent on getting to know that resident as an individual. It takes time and understanding and a little 'settling in' but our care teams are now experienced at getting to know our residents well and, if possible, speaking to families about how they can better get to know the newest resident in the home. Thank you once again for taking the time to write a review. Kind Regards

Thrilled at Mum in Law's progress at Hill Top Court, Stockport. 15/10! As an ex-Inspector in the Care sector, I visited numerous homes. At previous care homes she was confined to bed, had bed baths, carers assisted her to eat and drink. She had no interaction with other residents.
Hill Top Court
is cosy, immaculately clean, with genuinely friendly staff.
When we ring we are given a detailed explanation of how she is. and she has showers not bed baths!
She is often up, dressed and with other residents (we were told that she wouldn't ever get dressed again!). She is now able to eat sandwiches with very little aid. The Activities Coordinator is engaging her in activities. The staff treat residents and relatives with dignity. I use a wheelchair and they are always happy to help me. Staff and management are lovely, attentive and empathetic.
Her friends made a long trip to visit and were ecstatic to see how contented she is. The hospitality is great!

The carers are hard working, caring, friendly people. They care for my mums every need, nothing is too much trouble. The staff make us as a family feel welcome and answer any questions we ask. Which sometimes can be upsetting to us but we are treated with respect and answer us with respect. My mums
needs are always 1st and she is treated with dignity and respect and sense of humour. The nursing home is clean and well maintained. The food is always nicely presented and cooked to a good standard. We are kept informed about mums medication and care. All the staff are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

My husband has just completed his second month and has settled in very well. He is quite happy and relaxed which is comforting for me to know. I looked after him single handed for 5 years since his Alzheimer's diagnosis and my head tells me this is right for us both but my heart wants him home. We have
been married over 54 years but I can now have 'quality' time with him rather than the struggle it had become. The staff are wonderful and it feels like one big family where even I am included.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.476)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.476) out of 10 for Hilltop Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.676 for Hilltop Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.676

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hilltop Court Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
