Parkhill is situated in a semi-rural location between Stalybridge Country Park and the Huddersfield narrow canal. Parkhill benefits from both beautiful country views and easy accessibility from Saddleworth, Greenfield, Delph, Uppermill, Ashton, Mossley, Stalybridge and Oldham.

Originally an impressive late Victorian private residence, Parkhill has been sympathetically extended and fully refurbished to a very high standard. The facilities available enable the home to promote independence, maintain dignity and maximise quality of life for all residents. Residents and their families have the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful garden, patio and pond area.

Parkhill is a dual registered home providing long and short-term care for residents with a wide range of needs. Carers provide 24-hour nursing care with an appointed named nurse and key worker, a varied menu and choice of home cooked meals and in house laundry service. In addition, they also provide a stimulating timetable of activities and events focused on nurturing their physical and spiritual well-being.

Parkhill continuously strives for excellence in care. All staff are qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 2 within their field of expertise.

Parkhill has always pushed the boundaries to be the best and staff continue to go the extra mile to deliver excellent care.

My grandma has been a resident at Parkhill for a few months and in that time she has been extremely well cared for. She has been treated with respect and courtesy by all the staff. Her great-grandchildren have enjoyed visiting her at the home and it is a very welcoming place. This was important to us
as we didn’t want a move to a home to mean she didn’t see her younger great-grandchildren as often. All the staff are friendly, empathetic and approachable. We could not be happier with the overall care she receives as Parkhill.

On behalf of all staff at Parkhill, may I thank you for your kind comments. We are all very conscious of the concerns of many families when considering Nursing Care for an elderly relative. There are many aspects to quality of care but few are as important as the quality of care home staff. At every level, they are the key to a happy home for residents, relatives and families. We are fortunate to have such an extended "family" at Parkhill.

Mum has been here for 17 months. The staff are caring, sensitive and go the 'extra mile'. Activities are great! The quizzes are mum's highlight. Mum's become more independent, thanks to the nurses (in partnership with the doctor) this has added to a much better standard of life. Some staff have been
there 20+ years and the care reflects this. Many thanks to one and all xx

My mother's very intensive nursing and care needs, during the day and night, are reliably delivered in a kind and caring way.
She agrees that she is happy here.
Any queries or requests I may have are responded to quickly by staff and management.
I have total confidence that my mother is safe and
well looked after and recommend Parkhill to anyone.

Mum came to Parkhill Nursing Home in September 2016 following a recommendation from a friend. I'm really happy with the care mum receives and she is treated with dignity and respect. The home is well run and all the staff are very professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending this very caring
home.

Our mum who has Alzheimer's became a resident at Parkhill in Dec 2015. After being in hospital for a long time, her previous care home sent mum there severely dehydrated and delirious then refused to have her back. We didn't think mum would come back from it. It is only due to the wonderful nursing
care mum has received at Parkhill, that mum is now doing well. It is an excellent home, mum is treated with care, compassion, respect and dignity which are very important to us and mum. All of the staff are pleasant, cheerful and interact with the residents in a kind and respectful manner. Residents are encouraged to mix in the lounge area, this a homely and cosy atmosphere. Mum's room is beautiful, lovely, light and clean to a high standard. Activities are arranged most days. Food is varied home cooked and looks lovely. The level of cleanliness is above and beyond any other homes we've visited. Security and safety is paramount here. The manager is a great support to us, as are all the staff. Many thanks.

Parkhill is a friendly home and staff are happy. Management are considerate and helpful. The home looking very 'tired' and could do with updating. More access to outside would be good.

My mother has lived at Parkhill got more than 5 years. She came to Parkhill after living in sheltered accommodation for several years. Unfortunately she had several major falls and was becoming increasingly frail and losing her confidence.
She took a while to settle in at Parkhill but she soon regained
her confidence and became stronger due to the constant care of the staff. She is comfortable with the routines and they appreciate the fact that she likes to go to her bedroom and night quite early. I like the fact that there is a low turnover of staff and the entertainment programme and Xmas activities are excellent.

My father went into the nursing home in December. The transition from hospital was really simple. The care from everyone in the home is excellent from the manager downwards. It is clean, tidy and very homely. All the carers are pleasant and upbeat. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff. Any
questions or requests are dealt with straight away. My father settled almost immediately and with it being Xmas soon after they make a great effort to make it a happy festive time. Have no complaints at all.

All we as a family wanted for our mother was for her to have the best. We feel that she was given the best by a wonderful, very friendly and caring team at Parkhill. Mum was cared for with dignity, respect and compassion. The staff were always helpful and approachable.
We as a family were treated with
the same care and compassion that Mum had received, particularly during the last very difficult days of her life, we were totally overwhelmed with what the staff did for us and will never be able to thank them enough.

On behalf of all the staff at Parkhill I would like to thank Catherine and her family for the kind comments she has made about the care we provided for her mother. We regard it as a privilege to be able look after residents and families at such an important time in their lives. The kind comments and appreciation expressed by the families of those we have cared for are an enormous incentive and encouragement to all of us at Parkhill to continue with the care we have provided for more than twenty years. There is no greater incentive for our staff than to know that our care has been so kindly appreciated. We regard ourselves as fortunate to have had the opportunity to add Catherine's mum and her family to the many residents in Tameside that have become our friends over the years.

Current Review Score: 7.0 (7.049)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.0 (7.049) out of 10 for Parkhill Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.917 for Parkhill Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (1 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 3.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.132 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkhill Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.132

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
