I feel privileged that my stepdad was a patient at Wyncourt Nursing Home for 15 months until he died recently. As a doctor, I regularly get to see and experience the care provided at nursing homes. I have never experienced a higher standard of care. From the welcome and getting to understand who he
was and what was important to him, the staff embraced my mum and family as well. The carers were exceptional. Patient, kind, cheerful and always professional. They provided person-centred care (a wine spritzer at 10 am!), they listened to my mum and supported her. Attending a St Patrick's Day celebration, I was overwhelmed and humbled at seeing carers from all ages and backgrounds singing and dancing with their patients, providing joy. The management and nursing leadership were excellent. The very few issues that were raised were addressed immediately. His last days and hours were beautifully managed and they gave him the peaceful death that we had all hoped for with Mum by his side.

What a truly amazing place this is! When Mum was diagnosed with a terminal condition last year we knew she would need full nursing care in her final few months and as a family we chose here. Wyncourt provided this so professionally that we never worried for her welfare in there. They made time to interact,
do activities, maintain dignity but provide humour and love too and its true, everyone does become part of the Wyncourt family! She had a very nice room overlooking the lovely garden but also her own comfortable chair in the pretty garden room too and was made very welcome from day one as were we and any family and friends who popped in. Thank you so much to everyone there and anyone considering here- please go and visit and see for yourselves how wonderful it is!

We became part of The Wyncourt family in April this year. My mother-in-law was admitted from hospital following a diagnosis of terminal cancer.
The care and compassion given by everyone in the home from management, carers, nurses, the chef and cleaners was amazing.
We were also well cared for, always
offered drinks and reassurance.
Her end-of-life care was well-planned and carried out with the utmost respect and dignity. The staff are so caring and compassionate, it gave the family great comfort at a very sad time.

My nana has spent the last 4 months in Wyncourt. They treated her and all our family like we were part of their family. The care was incredible.
My nana enjoyed day trips out that really made her final few weeks of life, enjoyable and full of quality time. The food is amazing, the chef always went
the extra mile.
Wyncourt honestly could not do anymore to support their residents and their families.

At 95 Mum found it difficult to leave her home after nearly 70 years. She arrived at Wyncourt scared of the future. However, the staff soon put her at ease and she became part of 'the family'. The home's open house policy combined with the staff's excellent communication meant that both she and her
family and also visitors felt at home. She gained a new lease on life being encouraged to and entering into the spirit of various entertainments and interacting with the staff. The attention to her care and needs was excellent. The home was kept spotless and her clothing was regularly laundered. The quality and choice of food was of a high standard, and well presented. We knew that Mum was in a place where she was respected, cared for and loved; she was at home in every sense of the word. The ethos continued to the difficult days at the end of life. We cannot thank everyone enough for making her and us belong.

Wyncourt is always a pleasure to visit, the staff are what sets this place apart. Everyone goes out of their way to meet the needs of each resident and to make them feel loved. They also show the same level of care and support to family members, which is something to be cherished. My 96-year-old dad
was very happy here and loved being out in the beautiful garden, the staff fixed bird feeders outside his bedroom window so he could still take an interest in the things he loved. One day there would be ducklings running around and photos of Dad holding them, another day he was out on the road cheering on the Marathon runners. These are all very treasured memories and I feel so privileged that Dad spent his last few months in such an empowering, positive and happy place.

Moving my father to Wyncourt was one of the most heartbreaking decisions of my life but it turned out to be one of the best. Wyncourt excelled at meeting dad's multiple care needs promptly and with tenderness. It was a relief to see him having 24-hour care that he needed with staff that listened and
cared. It was very difficult to 'hand over' dad's care after caring for him at home for so long, but the staff showed patience and understanding that I needed to know what was happening,
The environment is welcoming, uplifting and 'open'. Dad was given so much choice, delicious food, clothes beautifully laundered, everything spotlessly clean. Dad was treated with respect and as an individual and all staff made an effort to understand him particularly as he had communication difficulties. Wyncourt is well-staffed and the team are professional and well-trained. Dad was kept very comfortable and we believe in the best place he could be. We can't thank everyone enough.

My mum lived there for 7 years and 4 months and could not have been in a better place. The staff loved and cared for her with dignity, not only that they also made me and my family feel at ease. This nursing home not only cared but included my mum in the activities, taking her to shopping malls, garden

Wyncourt is a very special place and this is tangible the moment you enter it. There is an all-pervading feeling of positivity and respect for both residents and their families that made us feel included from the outset. All of the staff from cleaners to carers and nurses work hard to create this happy
place where dignity is preserved and spirits are supported. The chef delivers lovely home-cooked foods and actually comes to speak to the residents about what they like, nothing is too much trouble and there is a regular programme of events that entertain and include. Since entering in December, my husband has had a couple of health incidents and nursing staff have been quick to respond, so I have confidence he is in good hands. Leaving a loved one in a care home is extremely difficult but I know he is being well looked after and this is so very important.

When you enter Wyncourt the first thing you see is a statement on the wall that says “Welcome to the Wyncourt Family”. This is no empty promise but is an indication of the overriding philosophy of the nursing home.
What makes Wyncourt special are all the staff, whether nurses, carers, catering, or
domestic, all of whom are truly dedicated to looking after the residents and their relatives as if part of a family. I witnessed many instances of unexpected kindness, such as staff coming in on their days off to bring something in from the shops or to take a resident out.
Unfortunately, my wife’s stay in Wyncourt was too short – firstly because she had to wait for a place to become available and eventually because the development of her medical conditions meant she required specialist care. This, however, enabled me to assess Wyncourt against other nursing homes, and that comparison is extremely favourable towards Wyncourt.

Everyone at Wyncourt Nursing Home showed such professionalism, kindness, compassion, respect, dignity and patience to our dearest Mum. They became like a second family to us. All members of staff were so caring in understanding Mum’s needs. The medical team provided outstanding 24-hour care ensuring
Mum was kept very comfortable and pain-free. The chef prepares truly wonderful home-cooked food and caters for all specific dietary requirements, he would endeavour to cook some of Mum’s favourite meals. Every member of staff took such pride in their roles and nothing was too much trouble. We were very impressed that throughout the home there was a very high standard of cleanliness. We couldn’t have chosen a more caring and special home for our Mum to spend her final days, and as a family, we have taken great comfort from this and feel truly blessed. Wyncourt is a home filled with love, care and kindness that simply cannot be measured and a place where your family is treated as one of their own.

My dad spent the last 5 years of his life at Wyncourt, before passing away in June. Prior to that, he had spent about 18 months in a rather 'corporate' care home, in the south of England. When he arrived, the lively environment and attention to his needs had an immediate and very positive impact on
his quality of life - he no longer sat in his room most days (as was the case in the previous care home), but spent a lot of time in the resident's lounge, chatting, reading the paper. At the first Christmas party, the staff got him up and dancing with his zimmer frame!
The staff went through a really tough time during Covid, and we were very grateful for their commitment and perseverance in supporting Dad through those times.
My brother and I were fortunate to spend the last week or so with Dad at Wyncourt. Witnessing the kind and committed people who work at Wyncourt 'in action' was a true privilege - it restored my faith in humanity. Thank you.

Wyncourt Nursing Home is a unique and special nursing home. I have seen many care homes in my job, of varying quality, which made me nervous when trying to find a home for my parents. I looked at many homes but struggled to find somewhere I trusted with their care. Then I found Wyncourt. A family-run
home with a wonderful and very skilled team. We experienced a very high standard of care which was tailored and personal. They worked hard to accommodate both my parents who had very different needs and presented very different challenges. The team navigated through any issues with ease and professionalism, enabling my parents to share a very special last year together. The care and compassion were also extended to our family, making us very welcome and supporting us through the difficult end-of-life stage. The whole team went above and beyond. It has been a privilege to be part of the Wyncourt family. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us all. It truly is a care home like no other.

Mum moved to Wyncourt after an eight-week stay in the hospital, during covid, where she had been moved seven times to different wards. Before this, she had been living independently but starting to need extra help. The deterioration of her mental capacity and mobility during these eight weeks was profound,
so on local search and recommendation, she was transferred to Wyncourt. From the very start we were shown nothing but help and kindness and even though Christmas 2021 was fast approaching, they managed to squeeze her into a lovely downstairs room with garden views and an ensuite. Mum has been there a year now and has remained in the same room which has helped her familiarity. The owner, manager and the team have shown nothing but care, respect and kindness to both Mum, my brother and myself and this has continued without exception to the extent that they even rang me after a long drive home, to check I was ok after a particularly upsetting visit with my confused mother. I would recommend it to anyone.

We chose Wyncourt Nursing Home for both my father-in-law and my mother because a dear friend of mine highly recommended it.
We were not disappointed.
Both our parents received excellent care and attention and to quote them - if you can't be in your own home then Wyncourt Nursing Home was the best
place to be.
The staff are so kind and compassionate, understanding each of our parents' individual needs.
Both of our parents had a great sense of humour which was nurtured throughout their stay.
Towards the end of their life, the staff were attentive, going above and beyond to ensure their last moments were as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

My mother was transferred to Wyncourt after spending 3 months in hospital following a terminal cancer diagnosis. The transfer from the hospital to Wyncourt was very smooth causing minimum distress to my mother and this was due to the excellent communications between the hospital discharge team and the
highly experienced and professional staff at Wyncourt. During her time at Wyncourt, I found that every single member of staff, irrespective of their role, demonstrated the utmost compassion, care and enthusiasm day in and day out. The care my mother received was excellent. The staff always treated my mother with respect, kindness and patience and it was clear they genuinely cared about all the residents. They took the time to do their best to get to know my mother's personal likes and dislikes and then accommodate them and during her final days, I found the staff to be a massive support to me in what was a very emotional and upsetting time. I cannot thank them enough.

My mum had been at Wyncourt Nursing Home for almost two years before she passed away in August. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a few years ago and could sometimes be very aggressive when having personal care. During that 2 years, I have nothing but praise for the staff at Wyncourt.
I know that the staff really cared and thought a lot of Mum and did everything they could to make her comfortable and looked after at all times. I am so incredibly grateful to every single member of staff for all they did for her.
My dad had been a resident at Wyncourt, 10 years ago, and was remembered, as was my mum who visited him then, by some of the staff who worked there then and the owners. Mum at that time had said if I ever need to go in a home, put my name down here! What more can I say? I know she loved them and they loved her. The staff are wonderful.
Wyncourt is always immaculately clean and very well run. I have only good words to say.

My dad spent three months in Wyncourt Nursing Home with complex health needs including dementia, Parkinson's and significant mobility issues. Despite this, he was sociable, enjoyed people and company and so needed lots of social care and attention as well as medical and hygiene care. The Wyncourt team
nailed it on all fronts: he settled in, felt part of the Wyncourt family quickly, relating well to carers and nurses. His medical needs were well catered for and his end-of-life care could not have been better from our point of view: it was compassionate and caring and medically on point.
I can't recommend the home highly enough - we feel lucky we were able to get him in there.

I'm Laura Duncalf, the Activities & Well-Being Manager at Wyncourt, and I've been part of this amazing community for over 14 incredible years. I've had my fair share of experiences in different nursing homes, but Wyncourt holds a special place in my heart – I couldn't imagine working anywhere else.


What sets Wyncourt apart for me is the strong sense of family values that permeate through the entire place. It genuinely feels like we're one big family, and that extends to our residents. To me, they're not just residents; they're my adopted grandparents. The care we provide is rooted in treating them with the utmost dignity and respect, and that's something you can feel in every aspect of our community.


As the Activities & Well-Being Manager, my role involves ensuring the day-to-day stimulation of our residents, whether it's through group activities or one-on-one interactions. I also get the privilege of planning exciting events like BBQs, Christmas Parties, and Fundraisers. Our residents enjoy trips out too – shopping, museums, garden centres, you name it. Laughter and smiles are just a part of our daily routine, and it's incredible to see the positive impact it has on everyone.


In my opinion, Wyncourt is the best around, and I'm proud to be a part of this family. The joy we bring to our residents' lives is what makes every day special.
