My Mum passed away recently having been in your care for 16 months. As a family, we were extremely pleased with the standard of care Mum received. In the first few months, her speech improved due to the number of people she came across each day. Her appetite improved and she began to gain weight. In
short, she was thriving, something she had not been doing in her own home.
During my visits, I was impressed by the range of staff calling into her room for various checks and monitoring. Staff were always cheerful and helpful. Mum would relay to me information from staff, indicating they had spent time with her and chatted about their families and daily lives.
It was comforting for us to hear that staff had sat with her in her final hours as the family travelled to be with her. Everyone we dealt with on the day she passed away seemed genuinely saddened at her passing and were sensitive when dealing with Mum's grieving family. I have nothing but gratitude for the team at Carrington Court.

I have spent the weekend with my Nan and I have to say how fantastic, supportive and helpful the staff were. Nothing was ever too much trouble, from day staff to night staff. We didn't want to leave Nan in case she passed away, all staff kept nipping into her room to see if we were ok. We much appreciated
it.

All the staff at Carrington Court, including the cleaners and utility staff, were always very caring, helpful and compassionate when dealing with my mother and ourselves.
The home itself was always very clean, tidy and very welcoming. Plenty of activities for residents, could not fault the home and
would recommend it to anyone looking for a home to look after their loved ones.

Second to none!
I cannot put into words how I feel about Carrington Court.
The service they give my mum is absolutely outstanding.
The staff have given me extra time with my mum that I thought I wouldn't have.
(Mum had given up before Carrington Court).
One of the activities staff is absolutely
wonderful and the new manager is like a breath of fresh air.
I will be forever grateful.

Dad was welcomed and helped to settle into his new environment.
He was a reluctant resident at first and not the easiest to look after, but the staff have won his trust and deal really well with his condition.
Could not recommend the home enough from kitchen, cleaners, handyman, carers and nurses
all excellent and I trust them to look after him.

My mum has been in a few residential homes before going to Carrington Court. I would recommend it due to the level of care and compassion she has received and continues to receive on a daily basis. The staff are friendly, always willing to help and mum has settled in so well.
The activities are especially

My mother had a brief stay in this nursing home. The staff were very obliging and tried to make my mum as comfortable as possible. If, in future years, I am in need of a nursing home, I would be quite happy to stay here.

The staff here are always extremely welcoming and helpful and know exactly where my auntie is when we visit. The carer who runs the activities always has brilliant things going on and includes all the service users at a level that suits their physical and mental capacity. Any activity on the board is
ALWAYS happening! Nursing and admin staff have very quickly provided my sister and I with any information we have needed be it medical appointments etc or letters we have needed re power of attorney. My auntie is very happy here, thriving and well cared for. Plus her brother who visits most days is included in any outings and given his meals with her when he visits. An excellent nursing home!

Dad had been in Carrington Court for almost three years when he died in December. During that time, dad's care was excellent. The staff are dedicated and work tirelessly for the residents. They loved and cared for my dad as though he was their own family and they became part of our family too as we
visited and cared for dad. We can never thank them enough for what they did for dad and for us.

My aunt moved into Carrington Court in September 2016. I am extremely happy with the care she gets. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and I am impressed by the fact that as soon as I walk through the door they know who I have come to visit and can tell me exactly where she is. Nothing is too
much trouble. My aunt is much happier now and is more mobile and thoroughly enjoys the activities that are provided.

Up to July this year we couldn't fault it but since the manager left the atmosphere has changed a few staff have been very lax. One trained senior nurse is at times very unapproachable and has an attitude about her when patients or family ask for tablets she says "I'll go now" but can still be waiting.

With regards to your concerns about management in the home, the new Home Manager has a wealth of experience managing HC-One homes. We understand how difficult it is for Residents, relatives and staff to accept change, particularly when a member of staff has been with the company for a long time, but we hope you will give the new manager time to settle in, get to know and support her to develop and enhance the excellent service provided to Residents at Carrington Court. She has already spoken to staff about your concerns who have reflected on how better we all approach issues raised by families.
At HC-One we have a catering team to ensure that Residents have a choice of highly nutritious menus to meet their individual dietary needs. Safety and security are paramount and we have vigorous inspections to ensure we maintain high standards. If there are any specific concerns the manager will be happy to discuss them with relatives individually, as she has an open door policy.

My Dad lived at Carrington Court Care Home for 3 and a half years. He was loved and cherished by all staff at the home. He passed away in his room on the 4/1/17. The staff were wonderful and we as a family could not have asked for more. Your company are very lucky to have such dedicated, professional

I came here for respite while my wife was ill, she sadly passed away and the staff have been sympathetic and caring. I have enjoyed Christmas here and I have managed to go out for a meal with staff also went home for Christmas with my family. I never thought I could be happy and enjoy myself again but

Introducing Rebecca Asprey
Home Manager at Carrington Court, Wigan


“I believe that kind care is about recognising the small details
that are important to someone and building a relationship that
enables you to support them through difficult times.”


As a Registered Nurse, Rebecca has
gained over 15 years’ experience in
providing care and support for older
people to enrich their lives. She is a
knowledgeable and committed leader
who is passionate about delivering the
highest possible standards in care and
quality of life for Residents.


Rebecca joined Carrington Court as
Home Manager as she closely shares
HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the
kindest care for each and every Resident.
She uses her experience to motivate her
team to deliver care and support in a way
that Residents gain the most benefit, in a
warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events
and activities with nearby organisations
and is always quick to welcome the local
community to Carrington Court.
When asked what she enjoys most about
her role, Rebecca remarked:


“I really enjoy the staff development side
of my role - seeing potential in someone,
recognising their skills and increasing
their confidence so they can fulfil their
potential.”
