Situated in a tranquil rural setting, High Peak has stunning period features and beautiful, large gardens overlooking the countryside. But it’s the dedication of the long-serving team that make it special. It feels like a warm, family home the moment you walk through the door.

The home’s latest CQC report (March 2023), with a Good in every single area inspected, is testament to the devotion of the team, who provide residential, nursing, palliative and respite care.

Part of not-for-profit leading care provider Sanctuary Care, the team share Sanctuary Care’s vision of Enriching Lives. This is based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security.

The team are passionate about their residents having a very active role to play in how High Peak is run, from welcoming new residents to sharing feedback on everything from the activities to the menu.

With the home's chef crowned winner of Sanctuary Care's MasterChef 2023, mealtimes are a highlight of the day, with delicious home cooked meals and freshly-baked cakes and treats every day for afternoon tea.

Activities are a huge part of life in the home. There is a hair salon for pampering, games afternoons, trips out into the community and music and movement, as well as gardening.

There is a spacious lounge for activities and spending time with loved ones, who are welcome to visit High Peak at any time, as well as a relaxing sun terrace.

Can't speak highly enough of the care that our grandma receives at High Peak, she is so settled and all the staff are wonderful and love her so much, an absolutely amazing place for her to be, thanks so much for looking after her so well.

So my grandma has been a resident of High Peak since October last year, she is so well looked after we can't fault them. She is 102 in a couple of weeks and wow they are pulling the stops to make sure it is special for her. The lady who looks after the social side of stuff is just amazing and has gone
above and beyond to ensure this happens. The staff take an active interest in my grandma which is so lovely to see and although she doesn't know why she's there (still independent and thinks she's lazy) it is heartwarming for us as her family.

A very friendly atmosphere. Staff who obviously enjoy working there and are willing to answer any queries. My husband is very deaf and this does create communication problems at times but these can be overcome with patience. I think everyone is looked after very well and it is a joy to visit.

I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough. For the 3.5 years that my mum was a resident. The love, care and kindness shown to her were exceptional. She was always treated as part of the family because that is what High Peak is, just looking at the length of service of the staff where 10 years
is a 'newcomer' is such a good indication of the home and its ethos. Definitely 10/10 all around.

Mum has recently been discharged from hospital, but still has complex care needs. The staff manage her needs very well whilst also being super kind, friendly, and caring. There's a really nice atmosphere and they provide a wide range of activities, there's a lot of laughter here.

I am a resident and will say the nursing staff are excellent.
Regarding food, some meals leave a lot to be desired and made always hot. I know some people may have to be careful if it is hot, can hurt you, can always leave it cood till you can eat it.

All thre staff are very professional and caring to Mum and to us. Nothing is too much trouble. The care manager was amazing in getting Mum admitted into High Peak Residential & Nursing Home from hospital. The chefs reform Mum's food to represent "real" food as Mum has difficulty in swallowing. during
our last care meeting some of the questions related to when Mum passes away ie. what did we want her to wear to be buried and what readings at her funeral. We were unprepared for this and was very distressing. This should be done by the undertakers at the appropriate time. This is our only criticism.

My mum had a fall at home and broke her arm which meant she needed a safe place to recover and regain her confidence. It's now three weeks later and Mum doesn't want to go home at the moment which speaks volumes for the staff at High Peak Nursing Home. I visit everyday and am made to feel welcome and
Mum's enjoying the food, especially the homemade soup. I feel lucky to have High Peak near to where we live.

My Mum went into High Peak towards the end of the Covid epidemic. It was a difficult time for everyone yet the staff were accommodating and compassionate throughout her stay. All the staff were wonderful from the manager and administrator through to the nurses, care workers, chefs and room support.
Whenever I thought there was something I should mention, I would ring and find out it had already been noted and anyone who needed to know was already aware. She was very well looked after and cared for.

I visit the home once a week and I am impressed with the staff. The way I am treated and, more to the point, the residents are looked after is outstanding. The condition of the home is very clean and warm. The staff are a credit to the home.

What an amazing loving home High Peak is. My mum has settled in brilliantly. The home is clean, the rooms are bright, lots of natural light and the staff go above and beyond and cannot do enough. I am so impressed. The care is fantastic.

My dad has been a resident now for two years and is approaching his 95th birthday. From the beginning of his stay, he has been cared for well and with dignity from the management, nursing staff and the team of carers. As a visitor/family member, this means so much when it comes down to trust and confidence
that your parent is experiencing. The right care and with dignity, especially so during challenging times when we are unable to visit. I would not hesitate in recommending High Peak to others.

Inspired by her children’s favourite cuisine, winner Sarah prepared a delectable chicken katsu curry with coconut rice, followed by one of the residents' most popular desserts, a rhubarb crumble cheesecake.


Sarah said: “The competition was fierce, so I am feeling very proud to have won! I’ve always loved cooking but working in a care home kitchen is a completely different experience, which brings with it unique challenges and a whole new level of satisfaction."
