Lakeside Nursing and Residential Home is sat within 4 acres of mature gardens accessed via a tree lined driveway, Lakeside welcomes you with a grand entrance. Overlooking the beautiful Worthington Lake in Standish, the home provides specialist nursing care and high quality residential care support in some of the most beautiful surroundings in the area.

The home is situated a short five minute journey from the M6 and M61 motorways providing ideal access to Wigan, Bolton and the Lancashire and Greater Manchester areas. The home provides luxury hotel accommodation standards with high levels of care with specialist equipment for high dependency requirements;

During these difficult times, the home has performed brilliantly. They have managed to hold onto top quality staff who know the residents really well which must be a big plus point.
My mother has coped very well due to the consideration given to her mental health by the staff.
The menu is varied and
really enjoyed by residents. As for the activities team who go to extreme lengths to uplift the residents, they must be premier league. Many thanks.

Given my mother-in-law is very well cared for and even though chair bound she has not had any issues with pressure sores etc. Her speech and communications have improved since entering Lakeside and though with Alzheimer's her memory has worsened she is content and can have a laugh with the carers who
are exceptional.

I want to say a massive thank you to the staff at Lakeside for all their kindness and excellent care of my dad, who found himself in desperate need of convalescent help for six weeks after a stay in hospital with pneumonia. Dad came out of hospital just too weak and confused to be able to manage at
home, but with the attention of the staff and their unfailing vigilance and dedication, he was able to get on his feet again and return to his own home. They made Christmas a special time for him too, where Covid at my own home, prevented him from visiting us. Thanks Lakeside. I only hope there is somewhere like you for me to go when the time comes!

My mum stayed for seven months and within two months I could see a huge change from the day she arrived to the day she left. I cannot praise the staff enough. Nothing was too much trouble and the activities are amazing I would definitely recommend this care home.

Lakeside has been fantastic for my dad and the rest of the family. The staff are extremely person-centred and listen to the needs and wishes of residents and family. The staff feel like family and have made the transition from moving my dad from home to nursing care much easier with their holistic skills
underpinned by best practice and quality assured care!

My father went in for nursing/respite care after a short stay in hospital - advanced cancer. He died in there three weeks later. He said that he did not feel safe and the staff was not responsive. He had three falls, no action was taken to prevent this (no mats with alarms/staff slow to respond). The
staff didn't understand his basic needs - i.e. needed to go to the toilet quickly but the staff was very slow to attend to him. This resulted in him falling or having accidents (when he couldn't get out of bed). He was not treated with dignity or respect. He was even told to just "go in his pants" as they thought he had a colostomy bag. He was left in his bed for hours when he wanted to sit in his chair and vice versa, the staff seemed too busy to help, some were reprimanded by nurses for helping when they had other duties. We were told we were not able to visit in the lockdown as he was not at the end of life, we feel this was because we complained about the care we saw, he died two days later.

Millennium Care, take complaints and feedback extremely seriously. We are devastated by the loss of any of our residents.
The resident was receiving end of life care. There was one instance where the family were not contacted when the resident fell, we recognise this as unacceptable, apologised and have put in measures to stop this reoccurring. It was advised by the local hospital that the resident should be readmitted due to the serious decline of his health. The family and resident refused readmission wanting him to remain in our care. Lakeside does not provide one to one care, the home is busy and with the pandemic this was exasperated.
A local doctor and several nurses visited the resident and all were complimentary of the care he was receiving. We take complaints seriously and they are all are externally assessed. The care professionals proved the complaints to be unfounded and were happy with the action taken.
This dates back to Nov 20', social care was in an unprecedented crisis.

What can I say, this place is incredible. My nana was adamant about never ever wanting to go into a nursing home. However, rather distressingly, the home she loved for over 60 years was no longer an option for her. After being placed in 3 different care homes, we became upset about her rapid deterioration
both mentally and physically and moved her into Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home 8 days ago. Her transformation since then has been nothing short of miraculous. Lakeside has given my nana a new lease on life, and they have given us our nana back. After a year spent largely in isolation in her home, my nana is now busier than ever. Either being taken on walks, baking, doing puzzles or participating in any number of events that the amazing staff have planned. Thank you Lakeside, and thank you to the incredible staff for taking care of my nana, and for giving us peace of mind knowing that our loved one is happy and healthy!

Great place, staff very kind and helpful. My Dad's health is significantly improved since he came here. The home went to great lengths to keep us in touch even through the stringent lockdown. Lots of activities going on for those who want them, and lovely grounds to walk in. Great that Dad can have
his dog to visit, and can take her for a walk.

The staff at Lakeside have treated my father with the utmost respect and dignity, and I would wholeheartedly

I am delighted how well my mum has settled into Lakeside. She was welcomed by the kind and caring staff, which meant a lot as I could not help her to move into her room due to Covid restrictions. She has been encouraged to talk about her interest in art and having some of her paintings hung in the home
has given her a sense of pride. A great deal of imagination and creativity must go into the numerous activities organised at Lakeside which means there is something for residents to join in with each day if they so wish. The meals are always delicious and additional treats, such as tea parties, thoroughly enjoyed. It is a relief to know that Mum is safe, happy and well cared for.

My auntie has been a resident for 10 months and in that time, the management and staff have been simply brilliant.
My auntie has found old friends and made new friendships which she thoroughly enjoys. The home has a fantastic activity coordinator who along with the management team are always putting
on various themed parties, outings, bingo etc.
It was a big decision for my auntie to move into Lakeside, but it really was the right choice.

Lakeside care home is the most amazing place!
My mum has been there since November 2018.
When she was admitted from hospital she was in bed the whole time and crippled with arthritic pain.
Now she is out of bed and walking with a zimmer frame and also joining in the fabulous activities they have
most days. She has made friends and had a new lease of life all thanks to the amazing and dedicated staff. The home is in the most beautiful grounds and she often sits outside in the sunshine. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.

Very satisfied with how accommodating the staff were and how helpful everyone was. The home is set in a stunning location with marvellous views and surroundings. Everything was above and beyond my expectations would definitely recommend.
My sister is extremely well looked after and can’t think of
a better place to be, nothing is too much trouble and the staff attend to her every need without hesitation. In her words it’s a ‘5 star hotel’

On arrival I found the staff and carers to be welcoming and accommodating. My auntie is being well looked after, she is healthy and happy. The facilities are outstanding and my auntie is very content to reside there. The grounds are stunning with plenty of outdoor space to sit and relax. The personal
care and time the carers invest is amazing to see, nothing is too much trouble. My auntie describes it as a 5 star hotel.

Good quality care, in a friendly environment. We recently had to deal with a room move, during Covid-19 which managed to include the family in the decision making process around room suitability and supporting our family member through the uncertainty of a room move, when we couldn't be there. Good
management means that issues around visiting during Covid-19 was well managed, safe and available.

Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home is an extended family to me. To know that my gran is cared for, loved and treated with the utmost respect and dignity is so comforting. The staff are fabulous and with an amazing leader manager and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The management of family
visits to Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home was second to none and I will be forever grateful to them for working so hard to keep families connected.
