Lakeside Nursing and Residential Home is sat within 4 acres of mature gardens accessed via a tree lined driveway, Lakeside welcomes you with a grand entrance. Overlooking the beautiful Worthington Lake in Standish, the home provides specialist nursing care and high quality residential care support in some of the most beautiful surroundings in the area.

The home is situated a short five minute journey from the M6 and M61 motorways providing ideal access to Wigan, Bolton and the Lancashire and Greater Manchester areas. The home provides luxury hotel accommodation standards with high levels of care with specialist equipment for high dependency requirements;

On the whole, Lakeside is a very good care home providing excellent needs for my father who has been there a long time. The pandemic really hit hard as not seeing him was terrible, the pod was a godsend, but a few mix-ups with visiting was a nightmare and hopefully, the issue is resolved now. The management
and staff are an amazing bunch of people, who if I have a problem, they will act on it. Thank you, everyone!

My mum was admitted to Lakeside from hospital following a stroke in January. Her admission to Lakeside was when visiting was not allowed due to the pandemic. During this time the staff communicated with me as required and eventually restrictions eased and I was allowed to see her. I trained and worked
as a nurse in the seventies and my last position was as a senior lecturer in nursing within a university. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the staff and believed the nursing care provided was of the highest quality. This is a well managed and well organised care home.

My Aunt could not have been better cared for. The care provided was excellent medically and mentally, with excellent nursing care and a brilliant entertainment program. Unfortunately, Covid took her, but we were very happy that she passed away amongst her friends at Lakeside.

I have been a resident here for the past 18 months and have been treated with the utmost respect, nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask and you will recieve immediate attention. The staff are fantastic, the home is fantastic overall, I can't complain. The activities are a godsend, keeps
us etremely busy and creates friendships. The Rawsthorne Retreat is named after me and provides you with the opportunity to keep in touch with friends and family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to any other person. The location of the home is excellent with great views of the surrounding lakes, especially from my room.

Lakeside is not just a carehome but a family. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been excellent in caring for loved ones. The mental, as well as physical well being of the residents, has been their top priority. Regular Facebook posts and videos, along with their ‘state of the art’ visitation
pod, have kept families truly up to date with what is going on at the home. A truly professional and well-organised home. I would like to thank all Lakeside staff for the compassionate care that they gave, along with the dignity and respect shown to my Aunt as she was failing and eventually passed away on the 30th of December 2020. She managed to enjoy her 94th birthday and Christmas; we couldn’t have chosen anyone better than to be in the care of her Lakeside family.

Dad's been a resident for just under 12 months. In that time, his mental and physical health appear to have improved immensely. Although it's been a horrendous and strange year, he seems to have settled well. Surprisingly, he joins in, and enjoys the daily activities and has a good amount of freedom.
I'm happy with Dad's care and would happily recommend Lakeside.

I am thrilled with the continuing excellent care that my partner receives at Lakeside. Over the festive period, the whole staff have gone far beyond the call of duty by providing some excellent activities and stimulation for all the residents. They had Christmas lights switch-on in the grounds where
families were allowed to decorate their cars and drive around a few times much to the delight of residents. They had an evening trip to view the Christmas lights in the local area. Many relevant activities including carol concerts, games, baking and a Christmas party. The owners have invested in building a lodge where we can safely visit our relatives during this pandemic. What a difference this means to everyone concerned. The efforts from the Manager and all her staff are to be applauded as they constantly go the extra mile for their residents. I am so fortunate to have my partner receiving this level of care. Thank you to everyone at Lakeside. You are an amazing team.

My mother-in-law has been a resident for nearly three years. My father-in-law still remained at his home. We decided to place him for respite for a month, he settled in so much that he is now a full-time resident and he loves it.

At 91 Mum had become too frail to live on her own at home. She was lonely and scared. The decision to move into care has been very difficult for her and us. We had heard only good reports about Lakeside. We organised respite initially. The warmth of the welcome from all staff on the first day helped
to calm any worries. The care and attention Mum has received so far has been wonderful. She has been encouraged to join in activities, when well enough. Mum likes her room, is enjoying the food and says everyone is lovely. As her needs are increasing, we are kept informed regularly. We are more than happy. Thank you.

It has been a difficult year for Lakeside's residents, staff, relatives and friends and the retreat visiting cabin, in my opinion, has been a godsend and I greatly appreciate it.
In these difficult times, it has been a relief to know that my father is being well looked after. I have been able to video-link
him every week and visit him in the retreat cabin. I'm impressed at all the activities the residents are able to access throughout the week. I feel it is so important for them to engage and interact like this, especially when they are unable to see their family and friends.

My sister and I have always been impressed with the quality of care and the management of Lakeside. Mum has been a resident for over a year now and the staff treat her with the utmost respect despite her challenging needs. They have nursed her back from being close to end of life to good health. Staff
always ensure that Mum's best interests are at the heart of how they care for her and use all their powers to get her to enjoy her days. Activities are excellent and varied, evidenced by the joy and stimulation they bring to all the residents. Lakeside is extremely well managed, recently refurbished it is a pleasure to be in the environment, catering is first class and residents afforded dignity in whatever stage of care they are. Happy to recommend Lakeside to prospective residents and their families.

The moment my sister and I went to view Lakeside, we knew this was the best home for our mum. My beautiful Mum moved into Lakeside in May 2019, she was on end of life and bedridden. The management and staff were so caring, nothing was ever too much for them. Visitors were always welcome, and you were
always greeted with a smile. Over time my mum was up and able to join in with whichever activities were going on, she went out on day trips and was often taken to her beloved bingo. Sadly Mum recently gained her wings, every member of staff spoke so fondly of Mum, and I knew Mum was extremely happy there. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for our Mum to spend her last months. Thank you to the management and staff, you made Mum smile on so many occasions. Without a doubt, I would recommend Lakeside to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones. I cannot praise the management and staff enough.

My father went to Lakeside in March 2019, having just received the very shocking and traumatic news that his cancer was terminal and that he had been put on end of life care. The prognosis was that he had at best 3 months left to live, which proved to be the case. I cannot thank the manager and her
wonderful team enough for the way in which they cared for my father for his last few months. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff and when he felt that there was no reason to carry on living, they lifted his flagging spirits in whatever way they could. When musicians came to the home to play for the residents, they made sure that my father was not left out and he had his own violin recitals, which he enjoyed immensely. While he was battling with the cancer and the attendant pain, they managed to keep him pain-free most of the time and comfortable. I think that the way in which he was cared for was exceptional and exemplary in such very difficult circumstances. Thank you so much.

My frail Dad was discharged from hospital into the care of Lakeside. I am delighted with the kind, professional staff, wonderful facilities and activities available. My dad is treated as an individual, he is not a drinker but the pleasure he had in enjoying a lager was lovely and I was offered a shandy.
The food is excellent too. My Dad apparently enjoyed golf from his wheelchair. I live in France and I have total peace of mind that my dad is happy and well cared for. The home has a wonderful atmosphere that can be sensed as you step through the door. Incredibly he has only been a resident 3 days but the staff know him so well, I would love to be a resident myself. Thank you so much. I really appreciate Team Lakeside ...very much appreciate all your hard work and the love, respect you show to residents and family.
