The team at Prince Alfred provide residential and respite care and are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents each and every day.

The gardens, which overlook the stunning Mystery Park, are spectacular – last year the home won an internal competition run by its not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, which challenged their staff and residents to create designs for the garden of their dreams, which were turned into reality!

The residents love growing their own produce in the raised beds, which they pick for the chefs to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of purpose and achievement. They also pick their own home-grown flowers for flower arranging activities. The residents were proud as punch to eat carrot cake with their afternoon tea recently, home-baked with carrots they had picked that day!

There are so many activities to enjoy at Prince Alfred, from barbecues with family and friends, to a recent rum punch and cocktail hour and pampering in the hair salon.

The team champion the residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. One of the residents runs his own book club at the home, while another, who is the home’s resident ambassador, runs the residents’ meetings.

The community is embraced into life at Prince Alfred. The residents loved their recent visit from Liverpool Museum’s mobile House of Memories project, where they reminisced over nostalgic pieces of the city’s history.

The home-cooked food is delicious, with two chefs who cook everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to authentic curries. And there are always home-baked cakes or biscuits every day for afternoon tea. One of the chefs recently took part in Sanctuary Care’s Masterchef contest, so watch this space!

Family and friends are welcome anytime. There is also a private Facebook page, so they can see what the residents have been enjoying doing each and every day.

My mum has been a care-home resident at Prince Alfred since March 2021.
The care she has received from all of the staff has been exemplary!
She recently had a fall, had to be checked out at hospital and was discharged the next day. Throughout this time, the manager and her staff kept me updated on
how she was.
I visited Mum the next day in the care home. All of the staff displayed genuine warmth, care and concern for her.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Prince Alfred staff make this care home the best there is. Myself and my family feel very blessed that my mum is in your care.

My dad received the best care and support from all the staff at Prince Alfred during his 2 and a half years there, they 100% supported his transition into dementia care and I cannot fault them. My dad was very happy there and I would recommend this home if any family are looking into a residential home
for their loved ones.

I have nothing but praise for Prince Alfred Care Home. My aunt moved here just over 18 months ago. She has learning difficulties. The staff made her transition into care so easy. My aunt has flourished here and loves the staff and residents alike. The staff are so friendly and they obviously love caring
for my aunt. She has a lovely room overlooking the park and has all her personal belongings there so she settled in really quickly.
We can’t thank them enough and we would highly recommend Prince Alfred Care Home to anyone looking for high-quality, friendly and responsive care in lovely surroundings. Thank you!

I couldn’t recommend Prince Alfred for the care of your loved one enough.
All the staff go above and beyond to always personalise the care of each individual resident, nothing is ever too much trouble and they treat all the residents with dignity, respect and good humour at all times.
Whenever you
visit the home there is always a lovely, warm, friendly atmosphere and staff always have lots of different events/activities on to cheer the residents up so they can do as much or as little as they want but always feel included.
I am so happy my nan is at Prince Alfred’s, it was a really hard decision to have to put her into care but it brings my mum and I tremendous comfort that she is in a care home that is second to none.
Thank you so much to all the staff who work so incredibly hard and do such an amazing job.

My father has lived at Prince Alfred for nearly eighteen months and has settled there very well. The staff are caring and know their residents very well. I recently visited for a game of Scrabble, played in the lounge and was made very welcome. The atmosphere was light and bright with banter and conversation
between residents and staff made a very pleasant afternoon.

Prince Alfred Residential Home is a well maintained, warm and welcoming home. My mum has lived there since October 2021. My mum is a resident at Prince Albert and has thrived since moving there. The staff are kind and caring and do everything they can to make the residents life's comfortable and enjoyable. The residents are treated with dignity and respect, and staff always find time for a friendly conversation or to
offer assistance. The accommodation is great with lots of thoughtful touches providing a home-from-home environment. The home is spotlessly clean throughout. The food is good and well-presented. There are also activities and socialising so residents quickly feel welcome and part of the community and days pass pleasurably. My congratulations and thanks to the manager and all of the staff for providing a truly outstanding and personal care experience which makes a huge difference to the lives of those in their care.

My mother has been in Prince Alfred for a few months now and whenever I ring to speak with her the staff are always very friendly and helpful.
I live a long way out of the area and I am planning a visit very soon but my sister lives locally hence, she is able to visit weekly and is very happy with
the care that Mum is receiving.
I am looking forward to meeting the team soon and in the meantime, it is very reassuring to know that she is being well looked after.

Mum was diagnosed with dementia in 2013. She was able to stay in her own home, for a while, but residential care became a necessity at the end of 2018.
Mum was a resident at Prince Alfred between March 2019 and June 2022, when she sadly passed away.
Although the progression of dementia was always
there in the background, moving into Prince Alfred brought Mum back to life again. She seemed to enjoy life again, and the family are convinced it was the standard of care given, in a supportive environment that was responsible for this reawakening.
Whilst they aren't the lowest cost provider, the care given and interaction with the residents is excellent.
The measures put in place throughout Covid (and to the present day) have been exemplary and proactive, ensuring the residents are protected above all else.
I wholeheartedly recommend this home if your loved one needs residential care.

Mum has been at Prince Alfred Care Home since March. This was supposed to be a short respite but due to unforeseen circumstances, she is still there.
I could not be happier with the care she is recieving.
Prince Alfred has a real family feel.
Mum has had so much support and the team could not have
been more supportive to her and myself as this was a big change for us all.
I could not recommend the home enough and that is down to the whole team and how amazing they all are always a smile and nothing is too much.
Mum always tells me how amazing the food is, they have activities and trips and she loves having her nails painted.
So thank you the team Prince Alfred for all your care and support.

We as a family are greatly disappointed in Prince Alfred. They excluded our Mother from her home without notice because she had fallen twice in two months. Our Mum is in her 90s and was left homeless by this terrible action. She was forced to spend a whole month in a hospital ward with no home to return
to. This was not an ideal situation to put a frail 90 yr old into. A little more care and thought from the care home would have saved our Mum so much distress. After all, why call it a care home if care is refused.

Disappointed. Following a fall, my grandmother was refused to be allowed to come back to her home. The manager refused the help and support from social workers, doctors, and nurses who all felt that she could go back if a low profile bed and crash mats were in place (all provided by the hospital). This
was refused.
This led to her being trapped in hospital causing a severe deterioration of her dementia over the last 5 weeks.
This was supposed to be her home. We placed our trust in management to be there for her.
She is safe now in a new home that was more than happy to provide the new bed and mats as offered by her care team.
Truly shocked and disappointed that this can happen. The management wants no one here who has any needs, anyone who might require more effort. More interested in pushing family to give her home top reviews. Well, I hope she takes this into account next time she decides to throw out a 97-year-old lady from her home for falling out of an inappropriate bed.

When I visit my mother, I book a slot and visit in a ‘pod’ in the garden. In truth, it is a lovely conservatory in the garden. It is a lovely environment in which to be able to chat with my mother and she enjoys looking out at the flowers and wildlife. I get little opportunity to see members of the
team now with not being able to go into the main building. I want to express my grateful thanks to them all for all that they have done, in very difficult circumstances, to look after not only my Mum but the other residents. Without the manager and her team showing such care and compassion and keeping routines running smoothly, lives for the residents would not have the contentment that they enjoy due to their kindness and hard work. I travel a long way to visit my mother and the team always do their best to accommodate my requests to visit. I count my blessings that my mother lives at Prince Alfred.

When we visited the home before Mum moved in, my daughter and I were very impressed with the home. Our Mum has recently moved into Prince Alfred. Mum is still a little unsettled with the move, however, the staff and management are doing everything they can to help with the transition, not only for Mum
but for us, the family.

My mum has been living at Prince Alfred Care Home now for over 2-years, and I am delighted with the standards of care she receives. All the carers are totally committed to doing their best and you can see this is more than just a job to them, they really do connect emotionally with the residents. I

This care home is the most welcoming, caring, thoughtful care home out there. They take care of everyone to their fullest potential with their kindest hearts. They are always making sure everyone is comfortable and happy. There is not a single bad word you could say about this home. It is so homely
