On Thursday April 12th my friend and I visited a resident of Blundel House. From the outset we had a very positive feeling about this house. We found our friend looking well cared for, relaxed and comfortable. His face lit up when two carers came to get him up and ready to join the other residents in
the lounge. We were impressed by the care shown to our friend and, as far as we could see, all the other residents. We were well looked after, we were even fed! We are 2 of 3 people who decided to move our friend from hospital to your home and are relieved to see him settled with you. We no longer have any concerns. Thank you all for making us so welcome.

Would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who cared for my elderly mother who sadly passed away yesterday. Brilliant facility and exceptionally high standards of care. My mum was given the very best of care and even though she was only there for a short space of time, both she and my family
were made welcome. The staff ensured all her care needs were met and most of all she had her dignity right to the end.

Enormous welcome from staff, happy faces, very clean, modern cosy feel to the home, they welcomed my mum to bring along her personal things which were extremely important for mum to have her music around her, therefore she was able to bring her guitar and full sized organ to which she entertains everyone
in the dining room. Her bedroom has a lovely outlook onto the gardens through her patio door. Meals are filling, staff are always there to help my mum with motivation. Since mum has been in Stonedale Lodge she has always looked well cared for, clean laundered clothes, very regular changing of bed linen. Stimulation for my mum was important, and I found they have a regular activity co-ordinator who gets all the residents involved and generates much smiles and entertainment. All in all, I can happily say that this care home has been a godsend to my mum and to our family.

My brother-in-law was a resident at Townley wing for approximately 9 weeks.
During that time he was very well looked after.
He was always clean, freshly shaved and looked comfortable.
He enjoyed his food and considering his medical condition, seemed content.
The staff always made time to reply
to any of our questions and were there to talk
to him and give any encouragement they could.
We have only the best regard for all the people we met.

Current Review Score: 7.0 (7.016)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.0 (7.016) out of 10 for Stonedale Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.683 for Stonedale Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 3.683

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stonedale Lodge Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 180 registered maximum number of service users is 36. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 36 = 0.083

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
